The amount Sheffield United accepted from Southend for Ben Whiteman (reported by their local paper reporter).
Safe to say our bid was the same or very similar, which puts that one to bed.

Now for Ben to live up to the illustrious career of the last player we signed for £150k.
Theo 'the stats prove he's average' Robinson.
-
Thats probably the reason why the loan extension was cancelled the day after it was agreed, and the reason why we as a club had to move fast regarding the permanent
-
Let's give credit to Ben then, he obviously wanted to finish what he started at Rovers. Today another midfiellder who had been at one L1 team has gone on loan to a different team (Jack Payne essentially ditched Oxford for Blackburn) so glad we didn't get stung like that.

That fee represents good business for us I think.

but i'm sure there is at least a 20% sell on clause plus other "strings" attached moneywise performance etc Blades manager said they had protected themselves so the initial figure MAY ?? be less
-
So what if it's 20% sell on? if he goes for say a million we'd still get a hefty fee out of it.
-
Id guess The fee and sell on was more than that, regardless still a great buy

Plus we would also put our own sell on clause in if he was sold. You would think anyway.
-
It doesn't matter if there's a sell on clause.
If we can flog him further down the line and we want X much in our coffers, we'll adjust the asking price accordingly.
He's our player now and we don't have to worry about losing him for the next three and a bit years.
-
I've got to honest and say that some of you are getting carried away..He has a lot of talent but is still far from the player some of you seem to accept he is imo..Of course I suspect next season he will play more in his natural position and then we will see what we have but like all very good young players with promise, some just don't kick on and as much as I hope we eventually sell him for millions we could just as easily end up letting him go for a free to Crawley town in a few years time...Lets hope for once weve secured a gem..
-
For the record I wasn't saying I think he'll go for a million, I was just illustrating a point.
-
Theo has played 16 games in League One this season and scored 0 (zero) goals.
Last season he played 18 games in League One and scored two goals.
In last two seasons he has played a total of 34 games in League One and scored two goals - a total of one goal every 17 games.
-
Shocking form. 16 league starts and no goals?
-
It is a sorry tale.
He has played in 16 games in League One this season and only started twice (subbed on both occasions) and the rest of the games he has been brought on around the hour mark or later.
I should add that he has been generally overlooked for the reliable and disciplined Nile Ranger.

don't forget southend signed him when he was on the touchline at a Lincoln match just before he was due to play (something like that - it's posted on here) he didn't even have a proper contract with Lincoln - it was a head turning signing at the time -
nile rangers disciplinary record is "allegedly" " as long as the nile"
-
Ranger has had his contract terminated recently as well.
