Title: Number fifteen bar on High Street
Post by: Beerseller on February 08, 2018, 12:40:48 pm
We went in this place last Saturday for the first time in years and I asked my mate if he remembered what it used to be before it was number fifteen.  He said it has always been number fifteen and the lads on the bar agreed with him.

Now it may be that my memory is losing its shine and I'm happy to admit defeat.  However, I'm 10 years older than this particular mate and many more years older than the bar lads so its possible that we are both right in a way.

The problem is, I can't for the life of me think what it may have been before it was number fifteen or even how long its been number fifteen, which really doesn't help the debate at all.  Is there any one on here who can provide the information?

Looking at these photos it was John Peters furniture store and before that a cafe.

The later one looks like early to mid 60s, I think I remember the John Peters store or something similar.  I was born in 1963 and don't remember ever seeing the trolleybus wires (I'd probably not remember much pre-1970 though), when were they taken down?

May be wrong here but wasn't it a shoe shop before it was Fifteen?

I don't even know where it is in real life, I just know I always seem to end up in there right at the end of the night...

Before it was John Peters it was the Lyceum restaurant.I used to work at John Peters and Manny Cussins was managing director. He was chairman of Leeds at the time.He tried to get me to go to watch them with the offer of free tickets.I always said no thank you.

It’s always been number 15 since being a bar. If my memory serves my right I’m sure it was an over 25’s bar when it first opened... though I may be mistaken on that.

That's how they tried to market it at first, didn't last long before it became grab-a-granny central!

The f**king birds are f**king old
Their f**king hands are f**king bold
Their f**king words are f**king frank
The f**king ale is f**king w**k

Etc, etc and so forth.

Like how you linked shoes to a last Hoola.
Very clever.
