Title: Best Sunday Dinner/Carvery in Donny?
Post by: mushRTID on February 11, 2018, 11:04:55 am
The breakfast thread has got me thinking, am I missing out...

Normally choose Woodfield Farm or Toby but only because they are convenient... any others to try please?

I think Newton Arms in sprotbrough is excellent.

Think if you enjoy Toby Carvery and Woodfield farm you are in for a treat.

Woodfield farm is average and gone downhill. It's a ten minute walk from home but I rarely go. That and the crazy queues.

Struggled for a good Sunday carvery.  Pastures wasn't bad I thought.

The Grove on York road was great when I went there, although that was 6 years ago, so can't say it's the same now. Seeing the amount of beef they gave me I'm sure they just cut its horns off and wiped its arse.

Green Tree in Hatfield used to be ok, not been for ages though

Not been but Kings Chamber in Thorne is supposed to be good

Housemartin pips the Kings Chambers imo (both Marstons - and similar in feel / style)

With Carveries it is dependent on your time of dining - if the stuff has been out a while and it has the lids on it can have gone over the top a bit but as this is about Sunday Lunch it should be ok

Green Tree used to be good then went off (again imo) but since being re branded as a Stonehouse it got better again.

Better check out Tripadvisor and read the best ones and the worst ones and look particularly at the dates as it may have been crap 3 years ago but everyone now is "rating it". I always check them out and often post reviews both good and bad

This is the latest "League Table" for Restaurants - and to "zero in" add a filter for English Food or Local Cuisine as it might be called !

Newton has terrible service and if you complain, despite promises never heard back from manager
