It's our 98th wedding anniversary next weekend so I'm taking the bride to Rotherham for a romantic break.
I've never been before so can anyone recommend places to visit.
I've heard Crinoline House is particularly beautiful and as we are going there by train I can't wait for the journey from Swinton to the town centre which I'm told is achingly scenic.

I had a day trip there just a few weeks ago but not that impressed to be honest.
There are quite a few places to have a drink around the town centre but unfortunately none of them would actually let me in.
No wonder they don't get too many tourists.

I took our lass on a romantic weekend to Rotherham last year. I thought it would make a change from the usual place I take her. She wasn't impressed though and said it was the most undeveloped, primitive and antiquated place she'd ever been to in England.
So much for change, it's back to Beamish this year.

Take it he his looking for a divorce then , perhaps a nice look around the glory that is Denaby on the way will grease the process somewhat .
He certainly knows how to treat a woman thoughts out Tommy Toes , by the way what was wrong with the sunny upland hills of Barnsley ?

There's an idea. Just take her down the Crags in Denaby with a bottle of Frosty Jack's and a kebab. Sorted.

Be aware of catching Tourettes there because last time I went I seemed to be having a good day out but then for some reason I suddenly lost the power of speech
For 3 days I was unable to speak except for just one word "f**k" although sometimes it came out in Capitals as "F**K and even on day three it was sometimes still there as "f ***********kkkkkkkkkkkk
It was so bad I drove round the place for 5 hours - having got lost - and being unable to ask any anyone the way out of there !
They say time is a healer but I must confess though my speech has returned I am still vulnerable to a random utterance of "f***" at any time

Got lost there a few times Big John especially where the infirmary is and for that matter the area around the ground . I used to work there and dreaded a diversion y y you have my sympathies.
* incidentally before someone pulls me up on it - I have both a reasonable understanding of what it is to live with Tourettes and find it far easier to understand than basic Dingle and a breeze when compared with " advanced " *

If you decide against Rotherham, you could always try this place. Comes highly recommended from Booking.com.

Yes Scunthorpe has appealed to me in the past and I have tried to visit but I've either ended up staying in Thorne to marvel at its wondrous market place. Then if I've managed to drag missen away from the Canal Tavern and approached the glorious city of Scunthorpe, I've always ended up taking a diversion off the M180 and visiting the Grade 1 listed shed or Glandford Monastery as it's better known as.

Linger longer in Thorne to take in The Old Vault (Micro Brewery) The Barge Inn (Happy Hour Saturday 12 till 4 - £1.50 for Real Ale) and the Windmill (always 4 Real Ales on)
Amazing what you can find in Thorne these days as well !
