Title: Put some lights on ffs ....
Post by: Donnywolf on April 02, 2018, 12:14:02 pm
.... I must have said 10 times going to and coming back from Scunny just now

Sky as black as a Crows a**e - torrential howling rain - spray everywhere and at least 10 people thought they did not need any lights on at all. They are the type I suppose who think " I dont need any lights on cos I can see all the others no problem"

Muppetry of the highest order. Loads did have sidelights on but even that is not sufficient but better than nowt

I think the Florida Law is better and would solve this - its simple "Wipers on Lights on"

Part of it is auto lights.  They don't come on in rain. I find both my cars fail to pick up properly at times.  Nearly as annoying as auto wipers....  rubbish gimmicks.

Cars that have daytime driving lights are best.
You don’t have to remember to turn them on.

As for people who drive with just sidelights on, what a joke.
See and be seen is the adage.

Also a problem on.  They only work on the front...

Yeah mine a s**t at deciding to turn on in poor conditions. Go through Tunnel at Frenchgate and bang they come on. Go out in terrible conditions like today and they dont come on - so I have to decide for the Car !

There were also 6 Disabled spots where I went and all 6 were taken because they were closer to the door so the drivers and passengers could nip in the shop

None of the occupants looked disabled in any way and none had Blue Badges and I just wondered what would have happened to a person unfortunate enough to be "disabled" - oh yes they would have faced a much longer walk AND got soaked for their troubles.

Sorry must be a "bad mood" indeuced by no Game again

Yes they do but then again when they are coming towards you, especially when overtaking and on the wrong side of the road, they are not often going in reverse.

But if they put their lights on in the rain it'll be less clear when they're flashing at you to move out of their way when they're trying to do double the speed limit and you've got the audacity not to drive like a prick!...

Oh yeah, I didn’t think of that.

Mine too. I go through the tunnels at Frenchgate and they come on halfway through, and then don't go out for the same distance once I've left the tunnel.

Very unreliable.

Amazes me that Supermarkets seem to think there are more disabled drivers than drivers with young kids
Not condoning people parking in disabled spots in any shape or form by the way - can/do supermarkets actually police this ?

I was in the car the other day while the gaffer nipped in to Tesco.
Out of nine cars that came and parked in the mother and child spaces, seven drivers were women who didn’t have kids with them.

Probably never realised you actually have to have them with them lol

... and the Electric Charging Points are always taken by non electric Cars at Asda and elsewhere.

Saw a bloke with a Nissan Leaf recently wanting to charge up but could not. Personally I would have parked behing the three Cars which were old and crap and go in the Store

"They" would come back at some point and call the Leafs driver out and he could say - sorry mate I dare not drive much further as I am almost completely out of juice. It would teach one of them

I wouldnt mind but ffs the longest walk in Asda Donny Car Park must be what 200 yards MAX

Should use the same rules that they use in Denmark where all drivers are enforced to have their lights on at all times when driving - even in the middle of summer.  It would save plenty of accidents and the subsequent tailbacks...

Works for me !

Florida Law is good but that would be better !

Ive been stuck in the M62 mess near Goole and saw people cutting across 2 lanes to go a different route which was amazingly dangerous and I imaging illegal - people driving on the Hard Shoulder - people leaving by those roads which are NOT legal exits - and Lorries in the outside lane (third lane) so its every facet of driving where we fail

I am not perfect and it took me 3 and a half hours to get to Goole from Thorne a journey that is usually gone in 15 minutes - but I would not consider breaking the law like people have been doing today

You're allowed to drive in the hard shoulder in certain sections of motorway. No idea if that part of the M62 allows that as I've not been out Goole way in yonks, but it isn't illegal 100% of the time.

Agreed - but near Goole its not a "Smart Motorway" so they were breaking the law - but heigh ho at least they didnt have to wait like the rest of us and better still they did not get caught !

We were stuck on the M62 from 1.30 until we got off at Howden at 7.45!

Then, when we got to Eastoft, which is 10 minutes from Crowle, there was a 10 mile diversion due to road resurfacing!

Finally got home at (.15

What a day!

Once got stuck on the M18 coming from Sheffield just before the A1 turn off, was about 500 yards behind a fatal accident, in rush hour, the Motorway was packed and I tell ya it's some scary shit everyone slamming brakes on at those speeds, I was overtaking a HGV at the time, with a HGV in front of me, one behind and the outside lane full. I was ready for ramming the car in the outside lane to get out of the way. Thank f**k the HGV driver behind had his wits about him. This was in the days before they decided to put the concrete barrier in the central reservation, we had to wait six hours before they cut a hole in the steel barrier to turn us around

Last night I was letting another car have right of way when this maniac comes flying between us. The gaps too small so he takes my wing mirror, wing and front bumper off. Then turns his lights off and speeds away. What a nightmare.

It's as if people think it costs money to turn your lights on. In less it's good visibility then mine are on.

Actually, Red wizard, It does indeed cost money to turn your lights on.  The energy they take has to be produced by the alternator, and engine power is what drives the alternator.  Engine power takes fuel.  Nothing comes totally free.

I wouldn't think it will add up to much over a year. Wear and tear on your bulbs and probably hardly noticeable in fuel. Roof rack and Windows open or tyre pressure make a big difference to your mpg.

I already refuse to have the heating or air conditioning on unless absolutely necessary.
