Title: Youth Players
Post by: The Red Baron on April 22, 2018, 09:26:52 am
Next season we will have five first year professionals. In addition to Danny Amos, Morgan James, Jacob Fletcher, Cody Prior and James Morris have been offered professional contracts. All have appeared in the Checkatrade Trophy and Fletcher came on as a sub in one League match.

Kane Bingley, James Leverton, Lewis Scattergood, Keegan Townrow and Matthew Overton have been released.

A lot more than usual! None have really done too badly at all in the appearances they've made and would be nice to see them get a few minutes in the remaining games.

If we'd won yesterday I think there would have been an opportunity for some of them to feature. Certainly I would rather see James or Fletcher given a chance than Kongolo.

Just hope they can all kick on and have a great career with the rovers. Nothing better than watching one of our own.

Same, as soon as we're guaranteed safety we need to be giving time to the fringe players such as May, Ben Khemis to see if they're up to anything and then give game time to youngsters to help in their progression. No point playing players who wont be here next year.

Another thing I picked up from Kieran Scarff's article is that next season we'll have a development squad of nine players. We knew Louis Jones and Will Longbottom were contracted for next season but it seems Reece Fielding and Tyler Walker are also being kept on.

Reckon that Robbie Miller could be coming in too, sounds like he's impressed.

I'd like to see Reece fielding and Tyler walker get a shot next year. They've done well out on loan and could both do a job in my opinion
