I can see Tranmere bottling it again, and the underdogs Boreham Wood winning the game and promotion to L2.
-
Boreham Wood, no reason, just something different.
-
Tranmere for me too.
-
Tranmere 100%. Can't see what Boreham Wood with their sub 1,000 gates would bring to the FL. There are too many bankrolled playthings making their way through the ranks as it is.
-
Tranmere all day long.
The thought of Boreham Wood as a Football League club is ridiculous.
Seems a crap attitude to have, as if the Football League is some elite unit we members can turn our nose up to small clubs!
Boreham Wood would be the smallest club in the EFL in the modern era surely, so in the spirit of good old British underdogs I hope they do it.

Also, on this, I don't think Boreham Wood are a "bankrolled plaything" are they? Teams like Salford and Billericay fit that description, but from what I can see Boreham Wood is just a well run club, the current owner has been there for nearly 20 years and I think his dad was in charge before that, although I'm happy to be corrected if that information is wrong.

I seem to remember some bankrolled plaything doing quite well in the 2003 Conference playoff final.......

No, agreed they're not in the sense that FGR, Fylde, Billericay etc., are but the playing staff obviously aren't being paid by gate receipts alone and there are plenty of whispers about them doing a Rushden & Diamonds insofar as creativity when it comes to rewarding players via nominal 'jobs' for spouses etc. They're not the most popular outfit in non-league circles.

Aye. Damn every tinpot little club such as Accrington Stanley and all of their like. What could they possibly bring to League football? :silly:
-
Boreham Wood for me. My Nan lived there for a lot of years and went to a few games.
-
Having been among the 9000 crowd last week at Tranmere I'd like to see them do it. They're a proper league club who, unfortunately, lost their way a few years ago under the last days of Peter Johnson's ownership.
Mark Palios has done a good job rehabilitating the club since taking over 4 years ago - a bit redolent of our own journey during the Conference days - and they're in much better shape now than when they dropped out of the League.
Go up today and I'd fancy them to get promoted again next season.
-
Bad start for the "proper Football League club", down to ten men within a few minutes.
-
Tranmere are down to ten men after 50 seconds.
Apologies for the echo.
-
1-0 up now, mind.

Have you been to Boreham Wood?
No I haven't, how many times do I need to have been to have formed an opinion that only certain clubs "deserve" to be in the Football League based on things other than football ability? How many times have you been then?
Thanks Bollinger for that, wasn't aware although it doesn't change my opinion that I'd like to see Boreham Wood do it today. Doesn't sound like something untoward or anything, it's hard to run a successful non-league club and I don't believe that certain clubs should stay crap just because they always have been.
What a start as well, a red card and a goal inside the first 5 minutes! Can see this one swinging back and forth throughout the afternoon.

Always check BW result after Kerry Dixon went there
-
It's like when it gets people's backs up saying Leeds are a Premier League club when well they aren't and aren't a Premier League club on merit, if Boreham Wood go up today it will be because they are there on merit, not because of who they are, not because of what they've achieved years ago but because they deserve to be in the Football League here and now because of what they have achieved this season.

True. Their manager has been a revelation and the owner deserves huge credit for getting behind him.

I believe in 3 up and 3 down between the National League and the EFL. It's been good for football that new teams have entered the EFL, bringing in needed change to the old order, which allowed teams finishing bottom of Div 4 to remain in the EFL, now poorly run EFL teams face the prospect of time outside the EFL and being replaced by well run and forward looking non-league sides having the prospect to progress in the EFL. I hope Boreham Wood get promoted giving them a chance in the EFL. I've been on Tranmere fans forum, there is a lot of arrogance about they deserve to be in L2, no one deserves to be in any league based on past glories, now it is on merit, some old league sides don't get it.
-
Tranmere won on the day so they deserve to be there next season. f**k all else determined it.

I agree this new playoff format is just to elongated . By the Borhamwood got to the final they look knackard and loosing to 10 men for all the game proves my point .
-
How is it too elongated? the top two sides in the playoffs only play two matches if they reach the final and the other four only play four matches, it's exactly the same - or even shorter if you're in 2nd or 3rd.
There should be two automatic spots and a playoff winner.
-
Boreham Wood played two matches before the final did they not? So same as ever.
Congrats to Tranmere, they could easily keep going next season like a few others did recently.
-
I think next season will be the first time ever with 5 Rovers in the Football League

Never mind the flattery DIII (showing your Irish connections maybe?), just make sure you ring me next time you are over to see the Glens. Would love to meet up again.
-
Will do,it could have been at a Europa League match had they not been “ upset “ by a dodgy decision today.
-
Well done to Tranmere, hope they do well next season.
I'm predicting promtions for Harrogate and Braintree tomorrow in the North/South play off finals.
-
We holidayed in Devon last summer and the Boreham Wood team shared the same hotel for their pre season tour, they were nice lads and their chairman was very ambitious, so I have been cheering them on and hoping that they would do well this season, but promotion to the league was maybe too ambitious.
But I would rather see Tranmere back
-
Boreham Wood for me. My Nan lived there for a lot of years and went to a few games.
after the war they did a job lot of reallocating east enders from bombed out London to Borehamwood that's why so many of them still have the accents
-
Braintree won 4-3 on pens to return to Nat. Prem. Well done!
