Ernie Hunt, who had a loan spell with Rovers in 1972-73 has died aged 75. He scored once in nine League appearances while with Rovers.

really weird that I was just thinking of how hopeless England were at free kicks and and thought of his goal then I see this thread obviously sad to hear the news

I happened to be staying with a mate near Coventry that weekend. We went to the game mainly to see a great Everton side. We were stood right behind that goal and I will never forget it. Very sad to hear about Ernie Hunt. R. I. P.

Possibly because the ball isn’t actually ‘kicked’ according to Law 13
