You do realise there are the likes of Sunderland and Portsmouth and of course Peterborough who are never shy to flash the cash in this division don't you?

Sunderland and Charlton have massive budgets compared to us. We can't compete with them. No reason we can't compete with the other teams though.

We are aiming for the top six we are not hoping to get their.
So let’s see how it pans out this season every body deserves a chance.
I always remember DF saying how players asking for a lot more in wages League 1 than 2 year ago when we got promoted back. GM is saying the same thing about clubs spending a lot of money. That does not have to be about budgets depends how they show the money is paid.

Not being funny, some of our fans have a similar attitude to Blunts/Weeds fans - thinking we’re bigger and better than we are right now. That’s not exactly a bad thing, but you’ve always got to come back to realism and look at the facts.
The fact is we are always going to struggle financially due to the poor crowds we draw, our immediate local area has at least 5 bigger teams bringing in at least double, treble or quadruple the amount of fans we do. I think people expect our owners to near bankrupt themselves in order to put on a serious challenge which in turn would make absolutely no sense whatsoever. The only way to compete for survival is to bring in out of contract injury prone experience, or unproven potential younger players - both type of players are naturally a gamble but for every n’th player we bring in, we’ll capture a diamond and they’ll either do us proud if we can compete in keeping them (Marquis) or eventually sell on for a decent and modest profit (Sharp) - that’s just sound business sense. There’s realistically no other option (apart from bringing in decent experience in an ‘experiment’ type situation, but we’ve already tried that and agree in a consensus that it failed - both on and off the pitch!). Add to that the crippling effects of money in to the game from the Premier league etc... and that has only worsened today’s game for all teams playing lower down the ladder.
Let’s face facts we ARE playing at our level, league 1 is where we should be. If we get lucky and can challenge for the championship then great, but at best we would be fluctuating between the two leagues long term.
I for one just want to see us a decent team playing decent football. What happened to our ‘pub team having a laugh’ mentality. That is who we are and I’m more than happy with that.
People on here need to stop talking budget b*llocks for a moment and watch their Phoenix: Rise from the ashes DVD and just thank the stars that we have managed to get where we are today.

Why do we draw bad crowds!!! Because the board won't have a go at it😣 the crowds will come when we have a team that's doing well in a higher division . Just look where Bournemouth are now!!! Putting bids in for 27 million 😲 and we are a bigger club then them,makes you mad that someone is missing a great opportunity with the potential at this club.🤔
