Can you deposit in your bank or do you need to get them changed first?

If you are abroad you should change it there. In Romania, the pound seems to be going down day by day. Now it's 5.19 lei, but a few days ago was 5.25 lei.

Holiday left overs

Personally I would keep it  ldr given current fluidity in the currency markets unless you really need it . Take it you intend to go somewhere again ?

We just always keep them for our next holiday but some of the bigger stores accept them and have both £ & € prices on their tags.

seems a bit obvious someone ought to form the Vikings Euro Exchange club on here for people attending Rovers exchange matches

you really get allegedly "ripped off" by the post offices in Coop shops etc they give you a decent rate to buy but "dick Turpin rates" to buy back

I nominate Billystubbs tears  cos he seems to spend a lot of time there

by the way Santander allows you to receive euros via bank transfer into pounds at very reasonable rates

thinking about it if you have a santander account and know your BIC number and IBAN you might even be able to pay coins and notes in  ???? BST should know this
