Afternoon everyone. Big test with the visit of the Shrews, can we bounce back after Saturday? We need to take our chances when we get them.
-
Should of been a pen to shews luck there
-
Looked like a definite penno
-
Looked like a definite penno
Not according to the ref though.....
-
Apparently not!
-
Shropshire Star live commentry
18' I cannot believe Town have not been given a pen there. Stunned. Whalley wiped out after riding a couple of tackles. The most blatant spot-kick I've seen in a while. Good attack
-
All quiet then..?..... how we playing?
-
Just noticed the ref - an old mate of mine from my RAF days - I used to play footy with Daz...
-
Feels like Shrewsbury coming back into it. We’re finding it hard to create chances. We’re not bad, but a little disjointed. Not really flowing
-
We started well but seem have run out of ideas, it was a pen for them but not long before they handballs in the box and the ref gave us nothing. Copps very quiet, Andrew and Marquis not in the game.

I wouldn't have gone that far. I'd put in the "I've seen them given".
-
vid below of the Shrews pen :woohoo:
-
Absolute Blatant penalty from my seat.
Whiteman and mason the only two playing well at minute.
Rowe has been limping all half.
-
Disjointed is the word I would use.. I think the ref is having a shocker, a couple of free kicks given to them in dangerous areas, where the tackles looked good, and one where their player literally fell over Kane’s leg..
I didn’t think it was a penalty to them, but that could be due to the angle I have got, from the east stand about 8 yards in from the south goal line..
What was Marquis doing early on when almost clean through, backheeling to no one when he could have gone on to shoot?
-
Blatant pen. We look v poor defending any attack from shrews and slow and predictable up front. On top of that massive ques in South stand for food and one without any food on sale at all. So much for looking forward to my first game this season. Nothing's changed from last season.........
Here's hoping for better 2nd half

On the contrary we have looked dangerous going forward, at times, especially in the first 25 mins..
-

He went chasing after Ben complaining like mad then had a moan at Grant about Ben when it was him that messed up really need to step up and score first
-
BBC stats look impressive, we're hanging onto a play off spot, we paid the ref handsomely, all good!
-
I think white man might have shouted for a back heel. That’s what the commentators suggested?
-
I think he shouted 'jellied eel'
-
One old un off and a slightly younger one on....
-
Haha, poor Mark
-
They’re looking more and more likely to score
-
We’ve been poor the last 15 mins only one side likely to score at present and it isn’t us

Level pegging on the stats front now......
-
McCann being outwitted or just our boys not being "ruthless" enough?
-

Neither, Shrewsbury are playing quite well..
-
Not a bad game this, pretty even teams.
-
Set up for a strong finish!
-
6943 in attendance - not bad for a midweek game...
-
Ooooooooooooooooooooooh
-
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
-
Cantona?
-
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
Up In San Diego
-
Huh?!
-
Up in Brizzle... and time for a beer... anyone?
-
It’s getting worse playing the ball across field in front of the defence it’s as though we are trying to let them score and what’s happened to the let’s shoot we are still trying to walk it in
-
Huh?!
Newbies! ;)
-
So the fannying about in front of goal has returned... great...
-
Anderson to score....
-

No, I wouldn’t say that..
-
BRR, I always liked the "Give me an E!"
-
Not good enough to score, not bad enough to concede.
-
Marquis was very close with that glancing header..
-
How did Wilkes get MOM?
-
Still playing...?
-
Fair result.. clean sheet and another point.. 7 from 4 games is a decent haul so far..
-
BRR, I always liked the "Give me an E!"
The "Up in...." was from the formative days of The Lucky Pint on Yahoo Groups.
-
And down in San Diego.... Slam in the Lamb, Dave in Peeeeeeebles
-
To much trying to walk it in and not enough letting fly
-
How far out do you expect th to let fly from?
-
I should resurrect the lamb and the lucky pint in future I think!!!
-
How did Wilkes get MOM?
Cos he was our best player?
-
That game sums up how much RUGBY LEAGUE is better than football.
What is the point of the 10 min practice at shooting in on goal if we are not going to shoot in the game.
-
Think we were poor in the second half,
They had 2 or 3 good chances.
Rowe didn’t look fit, I thought whiteman was our beat player by a mile, Malik showed flashes
-
Marquis should've scored at the death.
Rowe did pull up at one point but seemed to run it off, wonder if he's picked up a knock.
-
He was limping in the first half and I was surprised when he came back out. And he just carried on limping until he came off
-
Marquis should've scored was a common phrase last season and already been said in a couple of games this season. hope it doesn't become a common phrase again :s
-

You have a very short memory I'm afraid. Replace GM with DF from last season and the game would have been an almost carbon copy from rovers. For me it was sign of a clear lack if investment in the squad from the bd. If they had someone who could shoot we would have lost that game 2 or 3 nil. The only thing I'll give GM allowance for is that he's not been here long. That said I can see his style and tactics being easily found out and defeated as almost that which happened today. Looks like our only aim this year is to stay up again
-
f**king hell here we go... knew the budget would come back up as soon as we weren't winning every single game for the rest of time.

Short memory? Those were my thoughts whilst in the stadium last night, commenting on the game.
I was also at the Wycombe game where almost the same team dominated and could have won by 6 or 7..
You will get different performances on different days with the same set of players, that’s why they are in league one and not higher.
-
I agree with you that different opposition will bring different results. the shrews are a good team and they will be up there again this season if they can put the chances away.
I came to the game hoping to see a completely different team to that of DF given what I had heard and maybe my hopes were too high.
I can see the full backs pushing up high and was v evident at the beginning of the game for the first 10 - 15 minutes. The problem is that if we do not take our chances and the other team come back into the game they start to get pushed further back.
I quite enjoyed the first 20 - 25 mins and with better finishing, a little more luck we could have scored.
When Shrews realised we seem reluctant to go through the middle though, the crosses were becoming bread and butter for their defenders e.g. how many poorly/pointless corners did we take without making them count.
Our defenders are not bad and there will definitely be worse in this league but. We cannot defend crosses or corners still............................. how they did not score from one baffles and also delights me
We just looked no different to last season but worse for a period it felt in the 2nd half almost back to Dickov days of disparity. We are a good team but not one that will challenge without investment.
Something the board seem reluctant to do. Yes I know we have the blah blah biggest budget in the league, not increasing this (as I understand is the case) on a yearly basis so the manager at least has a transfer kitty to spend and add quality/potential to the squad means we will eventually either just stand still or be left behind in league 2
