That's basically the first team. Should give them a decent game then.

The lineup surprised me but I can’t undersand why Wilks and Marquis were not starting this time last week vs Blackpool? I can only guess McCann underestimated Pool.

Good opportunities for Lund, Khemis and Beestin.

Is there summat I don't get!

Why put out a much stronger team in this tinpot cup than we did v Blackpool in the League Cup (Carabao)?

Much more potential income from beating the donkey lashers and getting a good draw than in this competition.

Did GM get the 2 mixed up?

I think GM believes we can go all the way in this competition.. unlike (realistically) in the league cup.?

out of interest just seen the current "Dick Turpin Odds" Robbery* odds on this match at 0-1

rovers 6/4 draw 2/1 newcastle 6/4     thats like 1/4 either team and 2/1 the draw

you could drive a double decker bus between the spread it's that big

Shades of the 'friendly' with Newcastle two years ago that effectively finished Alcock's time with us, and we had 4 injuries?

Risking key first team players in a poxy tinpot cup that's usually watched by a few hundred people, when we've already got Andrew and Amos doubtful for Saturday; madness.

Very good goal from Marquis.
Shame about Tommy Rowe hope he’s fit for Saturday.
With both fullbacks injured only one sub left now.
Newcastle a lot stronger than our second team and young lads so we needed the first team squad if we wanted a result

Let’s wait and see, hopefully the injuries won’t be significant.

May on for Beestin
Title: Re: Newcastle in JPT

Both their goals have come from weak performance from midfield especially Khemis not strong enough. Kane trying to run the midfield on his own the other two not up to it.

3-1. Newcastle player sped past Anderson, marko seemed to hesitate instead of rushing out giving the chance for the shot. Rovers don’t look like scoring

Newcastle have played ok. Young fast lads against Anderson and Butler were always going to have a chance

We are just about out of it now so we should put our juniors out for the final two games.
Too many players getting crocked.

think the lads must of underestimated this game with it been an u21 team. Thats the only way i can explain what's happened!

I wouldn't go that far and I'm not going to lose any sleep about a result in this competition.

More concerned about the welfare of the players. I"m sure most teams will feel it's a game too far at this time of year.

Bugger the result. More concerned about injuries that this competition. League has to be the priority.

We're still on a learning curve. GM will have learn't quite a bit about a number of squad players tonight in a relatively low level game. Better here than in a league fixture.

Injury worries are the only real concern IMHO.

That was as poor as it gets, the next 2 games in this comp just play reserves as it's not worth the risk of injuries and unless he plays the 1st 11 we won't win as the back up players just are not good enough, you can't fault there effort but that's it

Can't really remember there keeper having much to do,the young lad who came on did ok thou didn't catch his name thou

Tonight we saw that our team relies on all first team players playing at their best and available.

Malik Wilks was poor all game.
Ben Khemis, Blair and Beestin not up to the level required.
The young lad Horton came on and his performance was better than the four above.

Now for Saturday we have injuries so it shows the depth of the squad if we are going to compete. Don’t want to be negative but we should have scored more and we allowed them to break through our midfield with the same players trying to beat players losing the ball then can’t get it back.

By the way Newcastle U23 where as good as any league one side. So GM did nothing wrong playing first team players but you are only as  good has the weakest link and those players were found wanting tonight.
