Title: Herbie Kane
Post by: GazLaz on October 23, 2018, 10:49:44 pm
He’s an unbelievable player. He out Coppinger’s Coppinger at times. I’m not sure a lot of our fans realise what we have on our hands either.

Looked class today, definitely need to work on extending until the end of the season

I love the way that the two of them work together.
There was an incident today when the two of them played clever flicks to each other to get away from Sunderland players which was inevitably ended by a bad foul on Kane.

You can tell they like playing together, seemed to click very well

They look very similar in possession. Kane was up against Cattermole at one point and he sent him one way, then the other, then back again. Cattermole didn’t know what day it was nevermind where Kane went.

Cayyermole just got bamboozled totally but then clogged him off the Ball - and Copps 3 times in 10 minutes

I think he is brilliant personally - Kane that is - not that excuse of a clogger

Cattermole gets the last laugh though on a reputed £40k a week for an hours work!

Cracking player, he finds space incredibly easily. I think his decision making is questionable at times, particularly further up he field or when he has more time on the ball, but I’ve no doubt that will improve with time.

Yes, I thought a 19 year old with no league experience was unlikely to end up being what we needed. I was wrong.

That's the first time I have been able to watch Kane and although it was on my computer

                                                 he is a fantastic player.

The interplay with Copps was outstanding.

Alick, Copps and Kane are like that every time they play together.
Those two together with Mason, playing down the right, create so many chances.

You can see why Gerrard wanted him at Rangers

He has a lot of Gerards’ traits about him, apart from his shooting.

I expect Gerrard wanted him because he’s some player rather than playing anything like Gerrard himself.

It’s like watching Wellens at his prime all over again playing along side Coppinger

Apparantly - LFC want to make it "hard" or at least "less easy" for Stevie G at Rangers because they want him to learn the hard way - be able to cope every which way because they want him eventually to manage them

Still reckon Herbie will be off their soon !

He is like a younger version of Henderson although I reckon he will turn out better!!

Funnily enough Henderson was a winger/wide man when he was Kane’s age. Kane reminds me a bit of Harry Winks in style.

I just Googled "Liverpool FC Forum" and came up with loads

Young Herbie gets loads of mentions

He reminds me of Wellens like someone previously said, although on occasions I mistake him for Copps.

He is certainly very good technically and aware of what is going on around him.
Ball control is instant and constantly good.
If he gets a bit of the Wellens “edge” as well he will become a seriously good player.

Wellens could hit one from 20 yards as well, yet to see that from Kane. If he adds goals to his repertoire he'd be an even better player, not that he needs it playing that pivot role in midfield.

Wellens scored only 41 goals in over 600 league appearances.

Alright, I said he could hit them not that he scored every other week. I remember a few great goals from Richie in his time at Rovers.

I wasn't criticising Kane either, far from it. I can really see him playing at the top level for a long time.

I agree R.A. I always thought Wellens should have scored more than he did. I could never get my head around his ability to pinpoint passes to the inch across the pitch, but couldn't pinpoint the ball into the back of the net.

Hi Hound

I think he has shown a few times (to me at any rate) that the Wellens "edge" is firmly in place. I was hoping he did not get too much of that edge

My Dad used to say never judge a man on one appearance and I said so to my Mate the first time I saw HK. I said to my mate after the first game " OK I am not going to judge him after thatn one game - BUT - I will deliver my opinion 1 minute into the next game.

He has continued to impress - and that turn on the left Touchline after a minute - how does he do it !

I am sure he will get Goals as well as he does not seem to be afraid of shooting whereas RW would almost get to the 6 Yard Line (Derby away) and still be loathe to shoot - prefering to set up others (no criticism of RW - I an gad we have his lookalike for a few Months at least)

Wellens hit 2 screamers from outside the box away at Swansea in the 2007/8 season.. thanks to him we won 2-1..

Kane is an outstanding talent, scoring goals or not..

I don't care if he scores goals or not, Copps has been a massive asset to this club, we have not kept him for his strike rate. He lets others do the shoe in.

Kane is absolutely top knotch. He is not especially physical but I guess if you can mix it in League One then you can get by physically in the Premier League. Not sure I have seen him put a foot or pass wrong in any game I have watched this season.

I love how Kane drops his shoulder to go, checks and turns the other way. Buys him 2 yards of space every time.

We need to enjoy this lad while we’ve got him, because I will guarantee in a few years we will be watching him on match of the day, saying ‘god can you remember when he played for the rovers’

Yes - we will imo !

He was touted on here as "the best Loan Player Rovers have had" - and in truth I can only say Tony Woodcock was as good (maybe better)

Woodcock went on to achieve "a lot" in the Game and I expect Herbie to have as good (if not better) a Career.
