But it's in the Mail so it must be true..................................
Trouble is, people believe the :turd: that gets published in the Mail.

I don’t believe anything I read in the papers, particularly the Daily Mail.

I apply that to anything written by Axholme Lion.

So, the SHADOW Chancellor is politicking ahead of the government budget..
Bugger me, they’ll be telling me night follows day next!
As for the OP, how can the Loony Left be robbing anyone, last time I looked, Labour (I assume you mean them) were not in power..

As for robbing the pockets of the workers, who is it that is responsible for every increase in VAT since it was 8%? And also wanted domestic fuel be liable to the full rate of VAT?
PS if you want to avoid fuel duty altogether, get an electric car!
-
The Conservative Chancellor Lord Barber set a single VAT rate (10%) on most goods and services. In July 1974, Labour Chancellor Denis Healey reduced the standard rate of VAT from 10% to 8% but introduced a new higher rate of 12.5% for petrol and some luxury goods.

Yes I know, but the two rates ran at the same time and I said since VAT was 8%, which it last was in 1979. So I'm still right.
When I cut and paste from Wiki, I put a link to show where the info came from. It's only courteous to show where the info really came from.

You don't need to bother really, It's easy to tell you've copied summat, it makes more sense.
Since the thread is about fuel duty I thought it was worth mentioning.
By the way, I didn't cut and paste it, I copied and pasted it. It's the first time ever I've done so, and I did so to try and prevent you from picking up on a minor detail in order to redirect the discussion ..........Alas, it wasn't to be!

Anyone wanting to go fuel duty is making a bad move for many outside the London bubble.
-
It's a sensible long term move for those living East of Donny.
