I’ve interviewed many people over the years and I could write a book!

But there was one which surpassed all others.

This young guy arrives and enters the meeting room clearly trying to look super-confident and in control. He’s virtually swaggering.
No problem with that. You make allowances for nerves in whatever form they manifest themselves.

But, interestingly, as I begin the interview, he starts to rock back and forth on his chair. Again, I’m allowing for the nerves so I continue.

But the rocking back and forth increases until the inevitable happens. Half way through replying to my question as to what he could bring to this role, he rocks back just a bit too much and completely falls backwards off the chair, his feet in the air.

I suppose I should have set him on, but I didn’t.

I interviewed a bloke for promotion at the CMHT I worked at. He answered every question by saying ' you've got to look at the bigger picture' and that was it. Poor sod was paralysed with nerves. It was excruciating.

At my works, a young lad came for a job and was interviewed by his dad who was the manager of the department. He gave his dad a reference and after reading it he said to his son, "Your mother obviously thinks a lot about you".

I kid you not.

BB did he get the job ?

Yes, he did........ And he got one of the best jobs in the factory. He would have been groomed for the next manager if his brother wasn't already lined up for that!
