I'm really liking the bench too. There's chance for a couple to make a mark, esp if we're 5 up at the break.....  :coat:

I think those that were queueing up to anoint Marquis as a legend recently really ought to look at his work at defensive corners in recent weeks. McCann and his team really need to do some work with him in terms of his defensive awareness.

2-1 down at half time having had the majority of the possession, it is getting embarrassing how we are too slow on the attack and defend poorly.

If we lose this think questions need to be asked of not only the manager but also the players. Not good enough
Title: Re: Chorley v Rovers
Post by: Superspy on November 11, 2018, 01:43:59 pm
Their second goal was a cracking finish in off the inside of the post, I'm not surprised Lawlor was rooted for that. The first was utterly shocking defending by Marquis from a corner again. Both teams have hit the post. We've had one saved off the line from Blair (I think), and Copps had one ruled offside (he was a good few yards off, no question).

As for Marquis and Wilkes losing the scorer, it depends on whether you think they should be marking a man 35 yards out at a corner. The scorer started his run a good 15 yards outside of the area. Marquis was just marking space and had little chance jumping against a guy who was running in to meet the cross.

Have just watched it again. Wilkes would have no chance of blocking the run without conceding a penalty. Sometimes you just have to credit the scorer. That was a great run from deep - very difficult to pick up unless this had been identified as a tactic when we've had them watched.

Only 5 times have we lost to a non-league club while we were a league club, including twice before WW2

We have also lost to non-league teams twice in the AMC while we were a league club.

Do you know what? I don’t give a stuff how we performed. It’s the FA Cup, non-League clubs obviously raise their levels and they will win all the plaudits going. But they didn’t win the game, and we can look forward to the replay with confidence and a cool £36,000 in prize money.

We have the advantage of TV replays which show it all definitely happened just inside the box. If the referee actually looked at skidmarks (which I have doubts about) then he may have misinterpreted it as you say.

I think we can consider ourselves fortunate to still be in the cup after that.

All over the place defensively, as per usual. They ran us ragged in the first half. How many games without a clean sheet is it now?

Could barely find a way past a non-league side who had 10 men for half an hour. Painful to watch.

Herbie Kane was the only player on the pitch who looked like a professional footballer. Thank f**k he had his shooting boots on.

Embarrassing performance. Crap result, but could've been worse.

We’ve got weeks without Wright the manager and his staff have got get these players playing better defensively.
They have got make sure we are more clinical infront of goal. If we continue playing Wilks, as we’ve not got anybody better, then the management team have got to get more out of him.

The good thing is Herbie Kane as added goals to his game. On the other side if he continues to improve and our form overall continues to decline we will lose him in January.
