Title: Game day
Post by: NickDRFC on November 17, 2018, 09:13:53 am
Got a feeling we might just shake off the negativity today and go out and prove the doubters wrong. 3-1 Rovers (late consolation conceded from a corner or free kick).

You reds!

Can't see us keeping a clean sheet, so 2 - 1

If you consult the McCann Predictor Model, based on his frankly startling mirror image results from last season, then you can literally forecast the future.

To remind ourselves, his results in League One last season vs his results for us this season in League One:

PUFC: WWWWDLWDWLLLDLWDL (25 points after 17 games - 7 wins, 4 draws, 6 defeats)
DRFC: WWLDDDWWWWLLWDLLL (25 points after 17 games - 7 wins, 4 draws, 6 defeats)

His PUFC record from game 18 in League One (i.e. today) is as follows: WLDLWWWLDDWLDD.

So the McCann Predictor Model forecasts that today will be a WIN for Rovers.

Your model only has 8 results that match out of 17, less than 50%. Don’t think its the most robust model for predicting results!

8 correct predictions out of 17 games wouldn't have put you in the top ten of the PvO this season.

It doesn't predict the results though, it predicts the number of points after a set number of games!

Game 18 in League One and McCann keeps it going. His record this season is exactly the same as his record last season with Peterborough.

PUFC: WWWWDLWDWLLLDLWDLW (28 points after 18 games - 8 wins, 4 draws, 6 defeats)
DRFC: WWLDDDWWWWLLWDLLLW (28 points after 18 games - 8 wins, 4 draws, 6 defeats)

I will add also that after 18 games in League One last season, Peterborough has scored 29 and conceded 25.

This season at same point for Rovers we have scored 27 and conceded 25.

So we have exactly the same make up of results, exactly the same points total, exactly the same number of goals conceded and 29 vs 27 goals scored. This is ridiculous!
