And a run of games coming up where we should do ok. If we can get 14-15 from the next 7 games, we're we'll set for the final lap.
-
January could be very interesting.
-
Next 7
Oxford H
Fleetwood A
Gillingham A
Rochdale H
Wycombe A
Burton H
Shrewsbury A
In our own hand there. We should be in the top 4 by the end of January. Then it's down to who holds their form over the final third.
-
Really enjoyed it today.
Happy days!
-
Take it game by game is the best way and not get carried away, wonder if a few more supporters will show up next week

The equations are starting very early this year BST. You must feel something brewing.
-
Might well need to get a load of points because March looks testing.
-
At the end of the day we must be respected if not feared by all of the other clubs. A little better form when we dipped and we would be right up there.
I don't think that anybody will look forward to playing us.
-
Of the top teams so far, only Sunderland and Charlton beat us.. apparently we played crap vs Charlton but we deserved much more against Sunderland.. we should fear no one..
-
If we pick up the same amount of points over the next 22 games we will have 76 points. Good enough for a playoff place
-
On paper, the Wycombe away game looks the hardest, imho. And from Rochdale onwards, we will have reinforcements.
-

It would be in normal years.
The way results have planned out in the first half of the season though, the side with the 6th best form (us) is on course for 79 points.
I think 80 points is the highest that any side finishing 6th has ever got. So we might well be in a season where the sides at the top get exceptionally high points totals.
Bearing in mind that we only got 85 when we won the league in 12/13.
-
Those 14-15 points from seven games should see us safe though. ;)
-
I'm taking nothing for granted, too many disappointed ends to the season in recent years.
I don't think you can say that McCann will sort this either as his style of football means it is not easy to keep this level of tempo up all the way through the season
-
March looks tricky:
Doncaster Rovers v Charlton Athletic
AFC Wimbledon v Doncaster Rover
Blackpool v Doncaster Rovers
Doncaster Rovers v Barnsley
Luton Town v Doncaster Rovers
Doncaster Rovers v Walsall
-
Worry about March when we get to it.
For now, I'd prefer to enjoy how we're playing at the moment and for us to rack up as many points as possible in the next 7-10 matches. Keep playing like we are doing at the minute and there's every chance we could be breathing down the top two's necks by March.
-
Can't stand all this 'take it game by game' shite. We're football fans, you've got to have that license to dream a little about what might be. It makes the success/failure all the more real.
-
It's one game at a time for me, too. In a month we could be 4th or 12th, so I'm not fretting about it until closer to the business end of the season.
I maintain also that if we finish in the top 10 this season it represents strong progress from last year and I will be pleased. Not going to be getting carried away despite how well we are doing right now.
-
I'm not saying TAKE one game at a time. I'm saying ENJOY one game at a time.
It's not all about the destination. Not for me anyway. It's about the journey.
-
BST, I think you might be right about the points required this year being more. It’s going to be tight as I’m not sure who out of the current top six will drop off

My comment wasn't aimed at you.

There’s a saying, watch the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.. take one game at a time to get the best possible result, and the season will look after itself..
No point saying March looks tough, those sides listed might be in crap form by then, or not.. same with us..
That doesn’t mean we can’t have aspirations to look at how many points we want from the next set of games either.
-
There are no gimmies. Each game will be taken on merit, you can guarantee McCann will see to that.
However, we have a conundrum. How do we avoid 'Manager of the Month' for December?

Ha, I said that to the lads on the way back to the car.

Luton Town v Doncaster Rovers
Doncaster Rovers v Walsall
We took 13 points from the first round of fixtures in these 6 games

I'd be happy with that, again.

As Frank Turner says, " If you're all about the destination, take a f@cking flight. We're going nowhere slowly, but I'm seeing all the sights"

I looked at this last year and in the 37 completed seasons since 3 points per win was introduced (1981-82) the average number of points for the 6th placed side was 74.2 with a high of 82 and a low of 69
7th place has averaged 71.7 points with a high of 80
So on average you would need 72, it has been achieved by 69, and 80 has failed.
I do think this year will likely be ending above average

we are 6 pts off 2nd, we cud be top two by Jan the 1st!!!!
-
have you allowed for the teams with games in hand on us?
-
Games in hand are not guaranteed points on the board.
