How are supporters getting to Fleetwood. Had a brief look at trains and there’s doesn’t appear to be anything

Not really, it's a hassle to get to, it's not a new ground or local, people are right to rather spend it in with their families following on Sky Sports in my opinion.

I love the Boxing Day games when they're at home but I think they should do all they can to ensure local derbies across the divisions really.

Oh for f**ks sake.!!

How the hell is it crap? Like someone says, there are no trains, and it’s hardly a local fixture. I love Boxing Day football but Fleetwood is too for for me..

Merry f**king Christmas eh.??

Supporters living in Doncaster if going to Fleetwood and then Gillingham on the 25th and 29th will have a 240 + 420 miles round trips fixtures could have been better really. Mind the next three away trips after that aren’t close either.

I’m not going to either game, Christmas is for family, well it is for me, different if it’s a local derby but not a 10/16 hour day out

i don't need to think about anything i type, i mean everything i say and no i'm not scared to meet anyone,  if they are abusive to anyone i know or my family and that includes ME.  Thanks Steve you know me more than anyone on here and you know i will find who they are in my good time then we will see what they have to say then, me or anyone else should not come on here and get abused from the keyboard bullies thats all they are and i'm surprised the mods allow it to happen that makes them as bad as them for letting it happen. i know i will get the blame from the controllers of the site  but that i'm not bothered about, they just protect there own as we all know.

Not again.

I have never (knowingly) met the vicar in person but I have spoken to him on here and he is decent bloke, if not a bit too passionate at times.

I think his comment about the number of fans going to Fleetwood was unnecessary but even so people's reaction to it is well over the top.

All of you can give up now, it's bl**dy Christmas there's enough pointless arguing.

I know who Dave is too.
He is passionate but only sees things his way. He not for the first time needs to think before he types and read it back to see if it is what he really means to say (there is a preview button next to the post button).
He criticises the comment made but in the same process responds calling someone a “big brave knob head sat behind a keyboard”.
That’s what my comment is aimed at.

I’ve only missed 2 games so far this season but Idd rather spend the whole day at home eating, drinking and watching football on the box in the warm with the family than spend most of the day at Fleetwood... I’ll be at gillingham though, going to the darts at ally pally straight after the game.

Ladies and Gentlemen....
The statement if read correctly is not a scathing attack on those that won’t or can’t be bothered to go to Fleetwood....

It has the feel of a rhetorical statement with a hint of retrospect...
As if uttering to oneself....

We all do it so just chill the fcuk out and enjoy the oncoming festivities..

Vicar, Dave, whoever you are, I really hope you don’t think I was being abusive and the last thing I am is a keyboard warrior..

You do however need to recognise that when people disagree with you, and point out why, that isn’t a personal attack - certainly not from me.

In my view, you over react when people disagree with your posts that have been perceived as without basis or weak arguments.

There are many reasons why our attendance at fleetwood will be low, good reasons  but that doesn’t make it crap..  it’s your choice of words that make folks react how they do.. I can’t speak for others for definite, but for me there is no malice, just disagreement..

I hope you can see that..
Title: Re: Fleetwood away.
Post by: the vicar on December 21, 2018, 12:06:29 am
I did not disagree with anyone, all I said was 300 is poor for where we are in the league in my book then some one came on abusing me so I stand up for myself so I know that is not over reacting in any way at all, and I have not said anything about you I don't think, but there is no need for abuse to anyone from anyone
Title: Re: Fleetwood away.

No, people disagreed with you.. you say 300 is poor, I say there are good reasons why the attendance might be low..

That’s it, I may have used strong language but that is because I strongly disagreed with your use of the word crap to describe he attendance..

I think had it been local game it wouldn’t be a low crowd turn out , but I doubt it will stay low  if there is pay on gate , as people often leave it late to decide . I’m going because I wanted to see us get one over on them after our dismal home game performance 0-4 .

The sad thing about "only" 300 people going to Fleetwood is that it emphasises how attendances in general have plummeted through the Years - and secondly how the traditional Fixtures are beIng wiped out

I remember posting about Barnsley V Rovers the other day and how they played each other on Christmas Day at Barnsley and the return was at BV the next Day (Boxing Day) . Now that is the kind of action we NEED. Close commutes to your traditional rivals

It cant work for every Team but surely the programmers can build in " a best case" scenario for 12 Games on one day ? That could be their start point for the whole Season - and they then tailor the rest of the Season around those fixtures and so you dont end up with a Boxing Day "boring" Game to the middle of nowhere BUT get something to look forward to

As far as this Boxing Day goes there will be a great Gate at Sunderland (whoever they play or would have played) and that apart the only other "traditional" Game as I see it is Rochdale v Blackpool

The fixtures as just done by me in 10 minutes are not ideal but do these look more attractive ?

Rovers v Scunny
Pirates v Argyle
Cov C v Walsall
Fleet v Blackpool
Tykes v Bantams
Gills v Shrimpers
Wycombe v AFC Wimble
Shrews v Burton
Luton v Oxford
Charlton v Pompey
Rochdale v Acc Stan

OK I was still left with Sunderland v Posh and they (Black Cats) would be problematic due to them being on a limb - but surely we should be looking at fixtures like them rather than what we have (With connected thinking the "odd game like Sund v Posh could be chosen for TV and the Posh fans would be spared a long return journey and still see the game)

One thing we could say is Rovers at Scunny would NOT attract only 337 + and neither would a reverse fixture. So the 337 as of now that are going deserve a big up and 2 more Tickets sold will top what we took to Plymouth and Brizzle so I think we will maybe make 375 to 400 which will be an extremely good turn out for an unattractive fixture which falls on a day when peoples "priorities" are challenged by lots of other things ! Ive been offered the chance to go by Mrs DW but as yet am declining because I know it would come back to "haunt" me many times in the future !

... and I think the Gate is Crap as The Vicar said earlier but from the point of view I just spouted above. Give us our traditional games back SOON

I think Sunderland play Bradford City on Boxing Day. Over 40,000 tickets sold which will beat Leeds Unt's record for highest crowd in this division. They were talking about it in my Bradford local last night.

I don't go to Boxing Day games anymore because I have young daughters and we have a big family day.
But this is one reason why I'm slightly regretting I won't be at Fleetwood - I would dearly love to get them back for that freak 0-4!

Give them a cheer from me since-1969, I hope the lads do it for you!

I was going to post that fact yesterday but I couldn't see a "fire extinguisher icon" on the thread in case it got overheated

but extrapolating ! the question is how many would go to Sunderland on Boxing Day……. can't remember last time Rovers played them in the league away

1st Jan 1988 I believe. A 3-1 defeat after Steve Burke put us ahead from a free kick in the first ten minutes.

As for your other point, I believe we will take more than 2000 to Sunderland on Good Friday.
