Title: Grant McCann
Post by: Spilsby Red on December 21, 2018, 09:39:10 pm
Many people doubted him when he was appointed as manager. I have said on here from the start, firstly, what a great man, very close to the fans, I had that first hand at Deeping with my youngest son, and at another game. Nothing was to much. He has shown how to support people/ children from other clubs in difficult situations.
He has a good football brain with what looks likes a lot of contacts in the game. People were up in arms about him not signing lots of new players. I said from the start, to give him time, he has gone beyond our dreams at the moment with his signings, his formation, his style of play. And I think there is more to come.
I would like to say that the board have pulled one out of the hat with Grant. Fair play to all involved.
Let’s keep backing Grant, the players and board at all times.

I’ll be honest and admit I wanted McCall but I’m happy to admit I was wrong and hope GM keeps surprising me - I’ve always said I know f*ck all about football and this proves it!!

Onwards and upwards!!

That's what annoys me when they say the board are not football people. They are as much football people as you or I, but they don't suffer fools gladly when it comes to business! As Terry said about the football previously, it was crap!

I second that, I was a little disappointed we didn’t get McCall, but I’m blown away with how exiting and enjoyable this season has been, I’ve been so impressed with the people he has brought into the club which gives me great confidence that who ever he brings in the future, I’m sure they will be capable of doing a job! Long may his reign continue to be as exiting as it is now

I didn't want McCann, didn't think Kane was what we needed and was unimpressed with the Wilks signing. Clearly I know nothing, although the verdict is still out on Wilks. Pun intended.

I agree with all of that. Like McCall he also seems very honest and supportive of his players.
I think that he is the type of manager that most players will run through a brick wall for. The squad also seems a lot tighter now and team spirit and confidence has gone up a couple of notches.

I too have championed McCann from the day he was appointed, parrying the negativity surrounding the Budget and promoting the very idea of patience...

I have defended the players deemed not good enough,  after Fergie bludgeoned square pegs into round holes...

and now we are seeing the fruition of patience and a well appointed management team..

and I have shown my appreciation to the club by purchasing the 2 year season ticket deal.....

We now have 2 very ambitious young coaches in charge. So much better than the fraud.

I mentioned from the start that his Peterborough record was not as bad as people said - the winless run included a few draws.

I’ve got to add that there seems to be a few posters that have disappeared lately

Why do we have to keep opening up old wounds and claiming super-fan status with an 'I was right all along' attitude? Don't you think it will only encourage the not so super fans among us to retaliate as soon as the inevitable happens and our form drops? Then it will be their turn to say that they were right all along!

And it will go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, an.........

At the meet n greet I sat and listened to the man speak. Once it had finished I cornered him for a chat, no holes barred. Told him I wanted the other man, but, after listening to him I'd give him a chance. I said you can talk the talk, let's see if you can walk the walk. We ended up chatting for about 20mins, before Gav dragged him away. Have to say he said quite a few things that I thought were just "saying what the fans want to hear". Yet here we are, where he said we'd be come Christmas, fighting in the play off spots. Just hope the wink and handshake do come true in May.

Because the not so super fan is just that.....” not so super” ...lol.

However the gravity of key words is not lost, ...the use, and emphasis of words such as “ retaliate” and “ inevitable”  only go to show that half empty glasses tend to go flat compared to half full ones...

But your point is taken....

That can't be discussed on this forum I'm afraid. Far too graphic.

McCann must have a lot of patience. If someone walked up to me just after I’d taken a job, cornered me, chewed my ear off about how he wouldn’t have given me the job and then told me I’m all talk I would politely walk off. Probably with some not so polite words!

I'm not suggesting we don't show appreciation for his recent success. It's the childishness of the 'I was right all along' super fan attitude that's pathetic.

Somebody mentioned recently GM reminded them of Bremner and I see what the poster meant. There’s a steel and resolve there but players have freedom of expression too. He is turning out to be a breath of fresh air after the last two managers. Long may it continue.

If that’s meant for me, no, it was my son. We’re over home from San Diego - last time we were all here as a family he was 3 months old. He loved his first live game, and to top it all he got his programme signed by Copps after the game on the BVB. Photos with Copps, Lawlor, Alfie, JM, Wilks and Matty Blair who came in too. Awesome stuff. A proper rite of passage.

The only childishness I've seen in this thread is your own. I can't see anyone trying to claim any superiority from having believed in GM from the start, just being pleased that their faith in him has been rewarded.

I liked the joke they put in your on-screen message, "a *warm* welcome to the Keepmoat", my Dad said he bets it's a lot warmer in San Diego right now than Donny! Glad your son had a good experience today PDX.

Yeah it was 75F in San Diego yesterday. To be honest it gets tired after a while though. You yearn for some rain and cold and proper seasons. Cheers for the nice thoughts. He’s firmly hooked on Rovers now. He watches most games on iFollow with me and he’s in his fourth shirt...

Yes, Mr Wiggerly, I'm sure people will agree with you. Now, why don't you be a good boy a go back to the off topic page where you can spout off your poison till your heart's content.

I bet you attend Rovers matches about as often as I visit the house of commons.
