Vaguely Rovers related, Gregg's been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours.

Vaguely Rovers related? The greatest keeper we ever had!
Well done Harry Gregg OBE.
-
OBE ( One Ball's Enough).

Not sure priority for the Establishment is to reward working class Ulstermen who have achieved everything through their own effort and endeavour rather than privilege and patronage.
Well done Harry.

Aye I know, that part was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek.

Wonderful news, Harry, and about time too! I’m old enough to remember him playing for us in the ‘50’s.

I had forgotten that he had also received the MBE in 1995.

One of the world's greatest ever goalkeepers of whom I had the privilege of watching many times at Belle Vue.
He was also a hero in the Munich air crash; he deserved an award for that alone.

OBE ( One Ball's Enough).
Our best ever ?
-
Used to watch him in the Reserves in his early days.
Will never forget standing behind the goals at the Rosso End against Leeds when Harry was bouncing the ball around prior to dispatching it downfield. He was being harried by tiny Albert Meek so he just bounced the ball straight down on his head and then let it fly.
(Would probably have been booked nowadays!)

Red card, surely, CGJ? Striking an opponent!

A hero for us in goal but especially at the scene of the Munich air crash.

Our goalie did that to Mel Tomlinson when he played for Lonsdale in the Donny Sunday league. The ref promptly gave them a penalty. I think Kevin Keegan played that game for them as well unless it was the year after.

I'm going to have a steak bake to celebrate :)

Congratualions to Harry Gregg
But why so long in the awarding?
I think there's been a recent anniversary regarding the Munich air disaster
