We had loads of problems with Sky and ended up with BT. Not had any issues since which is odd seeing as it is provided on the same cables.

We was the same, Sky refused to get Openreach out to sort the problem, BT got them out straight away

I've been with plus net for years and found them to be superb when any help was needed.  Can't comment on super fast fiber as there is no fiber service on our lane but the company is excellent.

Do you need superfast broadband?

I had Virgin superfast (110Mb/s) for a couple of years but the price was obscene after the initial offer expires. Plus the service would regularly drop and require the router to be rebooted.

Moved to 30Mb/s service through the old phone line with TalkTalk. The service has not dropped once in 4 months and we haven't noticed any effect with the lower speed. And it's about 1/3 of the Virgin cost. I reckon superfast is way over the top for most people's needs.

I've just moved house and gone with BT as there's no Virgin access here. No issues so far.

Another complaint about Virgin.

They demand 30 days notice when you leave. And because you don't know when the new service will go live, you can't give notice in time for the Virgin service to stop when the new service starts. So you end up paying for several weeks of service that you don't need.

That in itself is bad enough.

But then on the day that my new TT (phone line) service went live, the Virgin (cable) service stopped working. So I was paying for a service that I didn't need AND didn't get.

It gets worse.

Because the official termination date of my contract with Virgin was on the 11th of the month, but they took the direct debit (for a month in advance) on the 9th of the month, they took an extra £65 from my account two days before the service I wasn't getting formally ended.

I got an auto e-mail from them saying not to worry. It was standard practice and they would reimburse the money for the line rental beyond the 11th of the month.

I got a cheque from them 2 months later. So they have taken £65 of mine under false pretences, then, when they could have repaid that immediately by bank transfer, they have sat on it in their own account for 2 months then sent me a cheque. That is a deliberate malpractice, with them knowing that a certain proportion of those cheques will get lost and never be cashed in.

Absolutely disgusting service. Bordering on criminal. I will never use that f**king bunch again as long as I live.
