Portsmouth win despite getting outplayed in the second half at home to AFC Wimbledon .
Sunderland very fortunate to get all 3 points at Blackpool .
Stalemate between ourselves and Luton who both cancelled each other out in a very entertaining scoreless draw .
Charlton with a narrow win at home to Walsall .
Yourselves with a great victory over Rochdale and back in the top 6 due to Peterborough once again bombing at home .
Massive gap opening up now between 7th and 8th and I fully expect the top 6 to be as it stands tonight but not necessarily in that order .
Glad for a week off myself and the FA cup , just got through a tough number of games with the teams around us and I'm happy with 10 points out of 12 .
This season is going to go right to the last game for the automatics you can see that happening even on January 1st .
The key could be the January window in my opinion and who can recruit the best and just give themselves that bit more that clinches the prize .
Not necessarily permanent deals but some smart loans could be just as effective .
Let battle commence , really enjoying this season personally and beats struggling your @ss off in the championship any day of the year .

Agree

Said to my friend the other week, the derby in March could be pivotal.
-
Excellent analysis , could be very interesting indeed by then

Especially as it's followed by us being away at Luton!

A playoff semi-final or final against our near friends could be interesting...

That would be a monumental contest to say the least and you can see it happening in all honesty .
That said this why we follow our clubs for games and occasions such as these .
Would be a great occasion at wembley , I don't think there's any real animosity between us , most of us are from mining stock and we both have mutual respect in that sense .
I'd sooner we both go up together but I have to say something tells me one of us is going to miss out or even both of us .
-
I have always thought there has been a special relationship between Barnsley and Rovers. It’s a different sort of rivalry to other local clubs. Sadly there is a hatred between Rotherham and Rovers and also to a slightly lesser extent between Scunthorpe and Rovers.
I really hope we meet in the play offs preferably at Wembley in the final and as I have said in other posts my gut says we will.

My gut also tells me it's written in the stars , someone is going to have to deal with Charlton and I trust you can get that job done and we will deal with Luton who I feel we have the measure of home and away .
Sunderland and Portsmouth look the most likely given Pompey's lead and Sunderland's games in hand at this stage , but what do I know .
Would be something very special Barnsley v Doncaster Rovers at wembley for a place in the championship to say the least .
Certainly better than playing the morons from Millwall at our last play off final , great result for us but not a great day before , during and afterwards to say the least .
-
saw it on sky sports ticker that some Luton defender had just got a long term injury -for what it's worth
peterbru gave away two ridiculous goals today by not booting the ball out and playing "chicken " football as i call it.
this chicken football is ruining football
Charlton V Sunderland on Saturday - this might have been a re-arranged match ? (note I'm not calling them the Bank of Sunderland YET ) like i called Wigan & Blackburn last season
-
Barnsley & Sunderland will be the top two come May :scarf: :bbscarf:

Sunderland v Luton at the SOL a week on saturday , interestingly they play Newcastle U21's in between the Charlton and Luton games in the Checkatrade Trophy .
I'd suggest they will definitely want to beat their arch enemies and will play a strong side , far too much local pride not to do .
The plot thickens .

Both would need to play a lot better than they did against us
-
Said at beginning of the season, our 6 fingered friends would go straight back up with pompey. Us to beat Sunderland at Wembley, just like weeds all over again.

I have been saying to pals at the game for three or four weeks now that I was thinking we would play Barnsley in the L1 play off final.
-
It would be one hell of an occasion however, it's a horrible way to miss out from the losers perspective. I'd rather we both went up in one way or another. It's been a while since all S Yorks clubs were in the Championship together.
-
I would love us to beat Luton at Wembley.

I would love us to beat anybody at Wembley ⚽️

I was at your play off final against Millwall Tyke. It was a pretty scary day to say the least. We had similar issues with Leeds at our final, though their fans didn’t try to attack us in the stadium unlike Millwall.

Barnsley to make 11 points up on Portsmouth.
Good luck.

Barnsley to make 11 points up on Portsmouth.
Good luck.
Easy and we’ll have probably just about done it by the time we’ve played them at nearly France next month.
-
Good grief.
-
Portsmouth made up around twelve points on us a couple of years ago in far fewer games than are left right now.
-
Not while we were still trying to get promoted though, people may catch them up too once they’ve achieved promotion but it won’t happen when they’ve still got promotion to play for
-
ok
here's another happy ending scenario
Charlton v Rovers play off final at Wembley biblical rain their manager shelters under a brolley.
Their defender makes a square pass across the field it sticks in the mud Marquis latches onto it and scores an 89th minute winner
inspired by When Rovers played Tottenham (lost 1-5 ) here and a pass stuck in the mud and Tom Huddlestone scored and that other "non game"
-
Not while we were still trying to get promoted though, people may catch them up too once they’ve achieved promotion but it won’t happen when they’ve still got promotion to play for
Yes, we were promoted but we finished third.
If Portsmouth were to finish third this time they wouldn’t get automatic promotion.
Therefore it would be feasible that Sunderland and Barnsley could get automatic promotion.
It would be a good pay back for us to get automatic and Portsmouth to fail via the play offs.
-
It is the team with goals that tends to get there, so Luton must be favourites, with us shoring up an attacking force it seems that GM agrees with my opening statement, he is going for it!
-
No I know
But up until we got promoted we were magnificent. Then performances dropped off once this was achieved, probably because we got promotion and still had 5 games to go.
I can’t see any side letting their performers drop when promotion hasn’t been achieved
-
But that wasn’t the point being discussed.
BST seemed to be suggesting that Barnsley wouldn’t make up the eleven points that they are currently behind Portsmouth.
-
No I know
And I’m agreeing with him, they may let their foot off the gas once promotion is achieved but I don’t think they’ll let anyone close a gap like that while they’re still fighting for promotion
-
It is not inconceivable that Portsmouth can be caught. I'm not convinced they are the best team in the division. The next 3 months will be fascinating. There will be some humdinger between the top 6 however, teams like us and Barnsley have to take care of the games with the less fancied teams, then you can take on Portsmouth, Sunderland, Luton with freedom and nothing to lose. We hope of course, the latter also slip up along the way too.

Nothing to do with scrotes from Barnsley playing the big northern hardman outside the ground beforehand then?
Same old same old, if anything happens blame it on Millwall. I see Barnsley don't do too bad for the number of banning orders for a small town club in the middle of nowhere?

I'm not that bothered, but they don't like us. What annoys me is some of their support who come down and kick off with us, and then when they get a battering cry like babies and slag us off to the world for being the scum of the earth. I know we don't have the best name in the world, but they paint themselves whiter than white and the injured party. At the end of the day they shouldn't pull the Lions tail if they don't want to get bitten.

A few years ago, first game of the season in the Championship.
Why did the Millwall fans behind the goal charge at the West Stand where it was mainly the quiet fans there Axholme?
That didn't do your reputation any good. All teams have idiots but once a club has a reputation it attracts the more unsavoury element.

I admit we don't have the best reputation, but that is a reputation going back a long time. Not much happens nowadays as all of our away games are all ticket and you have to be a member to buy one, plus the porridge for football related violence is not worth it. The Germans were forgiven for the war quicker than we have been for Luton. My point is Barnsley love to slag us off, but in reality are no whiter than white angels themselves. They came down to Wembley looking for trouble and came off second best, then went away crying. By the way I am not condoning aggro, but if they were happy enough to kick it off they shouldn't complain.

you can't remember it well if you think they stopped. Our fans ran off and left them minding there own business to take a the abuse and things thrown. I got hit by a coin.

Lots of our fans ran back down the stairs to the concourse and rightly so

I was in the south stand and could quite clearly see plenty of our fans backing/running away.

The young gobby ones got out of the way but quite a few older heads stood and faced them off in the knowledge that it was all posturing and would at worst end in a wrestle and slack punches over the dividing rail.

Oh aye , so myself and my partner are walking up wembley way and a group of your morons decide to come over and tell my partner that she's a northern slag .
Not a ball kicked on the pitch and it's an hour before kick off .
See I thought you lot had a bit of bottle , stand your ground in your own little patch of South London against any other like minded " boys " that threatened your little empire .
But no , it turns out you just lot just pick on the soft targets , I was 53 at the time and my partner 43 , minding our own business and enjoying the occasion .
The same as you did attacking the families inside the stadium when we scored our third goal .
You see I saw the proof of the pudding with my own eyes that day .
At the tube afterwards you lot once again were giving it to the shirters and soft targets who have nowt to do with this nonsense that is until a 50 strong mob of our own lads turned up who were more than happy to engage you .
Saw it with my own eyes fella .
You couldn't get on the tube back to Baker Street quick enough , if you'd have moved any quicker you'd have beaten the train back to Central London .

Dunno. Is Barnie the blade knocking about so we can have our own little hell in a cell? Who was that argumentative odd ball from the conference days as well? Was he a Stevenage fan? Get him chucked in the pit, for good measure.
-
How often do Rotherham, Wednesday, Blades and Leeds end up in topics on here?

Got to love ours & Barnsley’s faith we’re meeting at Wembley, there’s a few twists in the road yet , though the idea of a pit mans derby with such a big prize is one to savour.

Look i'm not on here defending any idiots having a pop at innocent fans of other clubs. What i'm saying is a lot of your mob went looking for it on that day so don't come on here playing the innocent. As i've said previously to go to a Millwall away game you have to be a member, and all the games are all ticket by order of the club. The football authorities in their wisdom decided that this was not necessary for play off finals so anyone could buy a ticket. Therefore you will find that day trippers turn up who probably only go to two or three big games per season and these are who should be looking at, not the likes of most of our fans who despite the popular tabloid view of being yobs are decent, well mannered people. The ones having a ruck at Wembley aren't the type of people who will be stood at Rochdale or somewhere on a wet Wednesday night in February.
Millwall FC have put a lot work into reducing potential crowd trouble, at great inconvenience to normal supporters such as myself, what has Barnsley ever done as you appear to be quite high up in the list of banning orders, other than put the blame on other clubs supporters?
-
I have to add, there did seem to be a lot of aggression from the Millwall fans a few seasons ago at the KM, but when I went to the New Den (2008) when we won 3-0, there was no aggro at all. The fans I saw at the station after the game were regular guys happy to chat about the game..
-
Probably like the away day warriors we have then... only with a bit more about them.

Right next time some brick outhouse as go at me in a boozer, I’m going to walk away go in a shop and kick 7 shades out of a dad out shopping with his wife and kids. I didn’t know this being a bellend lark was so easy.

I'll make this as simple as possible for you to understand as you obviously not listening.
I am not defending idiots who may have been Millwall fans causing trouble, however I do not accept it was all one way traffic. You can not possibly know what happened in all areas of the Wembley. Yes, we have an historic name for crowd trouble, but due to action taken by the club most of our games see no trouble at all. As I said earlier what has Barnsley done to weed out trouble causers? You are clearly deluded by thinking your fans are innocents.
-
Mods, why are we allowing a slanging match between a Millwall fan and a Barnsley fan on what is a DRFC forum?

Not quite Overlord (movie), but I'm happy to watch. Others can easily skip what they don't want to read.

Let’s not forget all clubs have some idiot element on their fan base.. Millwall have a reputation hard to shake off, but we have our own too, as seen very recently at Bristol.

I dont mind the Dingles on here, but as for Millwall i dont give a shiny shite, probably most posters on here dont. Its time the lion left and posts in his own den. Irrelevant club .

I think that’s a bit unfair..
I thought we were a more welcoming set than that..

Why should I? I'll think you'll find it's the dingle whose getting all up tight and aggressive. I on the other hand have accepted we have had a problem in the past which the club has taken steps to address. Where our Barnsley friend seems incapable, or unwilling to accept that his club, which has a large amount of banning orders in place for a small provincial club, also has a problem at times with fan behaviour. Millwall has every away match designated all ticket. You have to stump up twenty sheets for a membership, where all your details are kept on a database. Every ground we go to we are subject to totally over the top searches and aggressive policing with ridiculous kick off times. Despite all this we put up with it to follow our team, then the powers that be let anyone who wants one, buy a ticket for the play off final and hey presto day trippers roll up and ruin it for everyone. Can he not see that as a normal fan I am impacted for ages by the behaviour of a few so called fans at a final. These are not the people going week in and week out up and down the country. So don't judge all Wall by a handful down on the piss for the day, as I won't judge all Barnsley fans by the handful who came down to London looking to have a go.

You’re a complete and utter bellend, you’re basically using the he’s done it so why can’t I excuse, 2 year olds know that excuse doesn’t hold up. Anyway f**k off
Did you need help from a classroom assistant to come up with that highly incisive and well thought out response.
I have replied to your post in a polite and constructive manner and all you can come back with is aggression and abuse.
According to the media and popular belief it is Millwall who are the thugs, I would suggest after reading your garbled rantings that we need to look a little further up the M1.

Quite enjoying it myself. Better than us calling each other Kitsons.

Fair enough, but i'll think you'll find that this was started by the 'morons from Millwall' comment to which I responded. I am not the one giving out abuse and swearing on this thread.

Good riddance i'd say. You're better off with the new bloke.
I do like to see Donny do well as they are the nearest team to where I live.

According to the AA it's 14.4 miles to Scunthorpe United and 12.6 miles to Doncaster Rovers. Plus the fact that most of the Scunthorpe fans I've seen have no teeth and smell.

OK, that's enough.
