Title: Accrington Game Moved
Post by: DannyRovers on March 13, 2019, 11:15:04 am
Our game against Accrington has been moved from Easter Monday 22nd April 3pm to Tuesday 23rd April 7:45pm because they are now on TV Saturday 20th.

Personally annoyed because I love the Easter fixtures. Guessing it will suit some who have to work Easter Monday though.

It will give us another day to recover after the Good Friday game.

I understand that bfyp but most firms that I worked at had Mon/Tues off and that goes back to the 60s.

Not mine, though I do get that at other bank holidays not this one.

It has seemingly been quite poor for Saturday games this second half of the season, some.l of it is success of course others are bloody tv.

Do we get compensated ? for certain it will be a smaller crowd than on the bank holiday.

I was talking to a Bradford City fan in the gym and his best mate (a Leeds fan) is always complaining about their fixtures being moved for TV.
The Premier League is a nightmare for working fans, especially away games.

Like Sky TV cares about anybody except themselves, lots of folks on here might moan about them, but then go home and switch on to watch two teams of overpaid cheats compete for a crap cup whilst providing funds for them. If you don't like them don't provide funds for them!

That is really crap, a game being moved at a month's notice to suit TV schedules. And of course it inconveniences our home fans again. Suppose it means I can plan something else for my Easter Monday but it shouldn't happen really.

Easter Monday at 3pm we'd have had 10,000. Tuesday night at 7.45pm we'll be lucky to get 8,000.

I am really pissed off about this.
I have arranged a short break, to go away Tuesday morning.
It looks like I will have to shuffle stuff around now so i can get to the match.

Accrington's chairman has just confirmed to me via Twitter that they didn't ask for the game to be moved, even though they are playing Saturday evening. So who wanted it moved?

My daughter and two grandkids (all STH) are going on holiday Tuesday morning and therefore now miss the game. Do you think they are entitled to a refund?

Personally I don’t. I don’t think you can really set a precedent of refunding STHs based on rearranged fixtures. I think people who’ve bought transport or one off match tickets should be compensated though.

What is the difference from buying a one-off ticket and getting a refund and getting a refund from your ST?

A lot of season tickets are bought before the fixtures are even released, and I doubt that anyone buying a season ticket after the fixtures are released goes through every match and checks they can attend. It’s an inconvenience for your family but they didn’t buy their season tickets with an Easter Monday game against Accrington in mind.

It’s moot for this game as tickets aren’t on sale, but if someone is buying for a specific match they do so with only that game in mind, so if it’s rescheduled it has a very specific impact.

-1 here, I go away on the Tueday, but they got my money, so probably don’t care

Sky. They're the only ones who wanted to move it and they are the only ones who matter. Not the clubs and certainly not the fans.

Why would Sky be bothered if our game with Accrington was moved? They aren't showing it so they wouldn't care if Accrington had less than 48 hours recovery time after playing on Saturday.

If it is to give Accrington more time to recover from their Saturday game, why haven’t they put Luton’s game back to Tuesday as well.

I don't know who insisted that the Accrington game was moved but their chairman has said it wasn't them. I can't see it would be Sky as they are not televising the game. So it must be Rovers or the EFL.

I have just had a look on the Accrington forum, both teams had agreed 12-30 ko on good Friday.Efl asked for it to be moved to Saturday neither club agreed but Efl moved it anyway.

I get the point that people bought ST before fixtures were announced. However, this holiday was booked so as not to clash with any games after the fixture came out. So that argument does not apply here.
