A v Sunderland - Draw

How many points will we get, and will it be enough to keep 6th place.
Personally I think we'll just about get enough points in the home games to make the play-offs.
And I really fancy us to win at Luton.

I’d say 15 points from those

I've gone more pessimistic and what I think us realistic given our current form with 14 points. That would put us on 69, just outside the playoffs.
Obviously I hope I'm wrong and what I saw was reasonably encouraging on Tues night but there were plenty of things to worry me against a more clinical team than blackpool
Marosi for a start is a jittery mess, is not commanding his area and slow to come out
Passing at times was v poor (the pitch clearly did not help)
Our crossing from corners or open play was appalling and needs some serious work.

70, 56+14..

I'd love a 9 game unbeaten run at this stage but I can't see it!
6 home games left is encouraging, let's say 4 wins and 2 draws from them...lose at Luton and Sunderland but win at Bradford and Oxford. That would be 20 points from 10 games and 76 points, surely enough for a Play Off spot. I live in hope!

I'd be very surprised (and delighted) if we won at Luton. They are pretty formidable at home and haven't lost anywhere in the league since October.

I believe 15 points will be required, whether we get them though is debatable at present
-
72 points i think will be needed. Just my opinion
That’s 5 wins and a draw or 4 wins and 4 draws. Think we are well capable of achieving that.
Barnsley, Luton and Sunderland will bring out the best in us and i think we will get 5 or possibly even 7 points from those 3 games.
I also think the next 2 home games against Bristol Rvs and Walsall are very important indeed, not crucial of course but if we don’t get 6 points from those we are going to make it very difficult for ourselves.
Impossible to predict each game but here goes.
Barnsley H Win
Luton A Draw
Bristol R H Win
Walsall H Win
Bradford A Lose
Plymouth H Draw
Sunderland A Draw
Accrington H Win
Oxford A Lose
Coventry H Win
That’s 18 points. Total 74 well I hope i am right.
If one of those wins is only a draw i think it will be enough.

Let’s see where we are after the next two games. Our current form is poor and there is nothing to suggest that we will be able to beat either Barnsley or Luton. The saving grace is that none of the other contenders for that sixth place are doing much better, other than Coventry who are on a good run, but still quite inconsistent. 70 points may well be enough, but as I say, it depends on other teams as well as our own results.
-
Our form in terms of results and points is poor, but performance wise weren’t we back on it at Blackpool.?
-
Some dross in there, but we have struggled with dross at times this season - Wycombe, Fleetwood and AFC Wimbledon spring to mind.
-
Games get wildly unpredictable at this end of the season, but looking at clubs competing for the play offs (Portsmouth down to Burton) Charlton have an easier last 10 than most of the competition for 5/6th places.
Coventry and Blackpool have it tough.
I can easily see Sunderland as being the team waiting at Wembley for whoever. That would be a great day out!
-
6 out the remaining 9 in bottom half. If we don't finish in top 6 we plainly won't have deserved it.

Teams in the bottom half have much to play for though.
A team fighting to stay up could well be a more dangerous opponent.
There are no easy games.
-
I think if we are still in the top 6 by the start of the Bristol rovers game then I think we will do it

I think if we are still in the top 6 by the start of the Bristol rovers game then I think we will do it
So we will possibly have to beat Luton to be 6th before we play Bristol R.
The 2 most important games I think will be Bristol R and Walsall at home.
They are all important of course but if we slip up in those two games we will give our rivals a massive physicological advantage.
-
Hate to piss on our collective chips, but Bristol Rovers have an exceptional away record.
Last time they lost away was 15 December, away at Sunderland, only 2-1.
Since then they have played 8 games away from home and won 6, drawn 2 and lost zip - concerting only 4 goals in those 8 away games.
They are a very impressive unit away from home.
-
Looking at the way we don’t seem to be finding our scoring boots anytime soon and Old Marquis is getting some stick ( guilty) I’m revising my run in or points tally and as our two nearest rivals for 6th place will need more so I think we’ll need 18 . This could be a blessing as our goals are fast becoming rare as rocking horse droppings .

If it happens to be us (though I think we're more likely to meet them in the semis) it could be another Leeds moment.

We have been distinctly average over the second half of the season. Having reached the half way point of 23 games at Christmas with 39 points on the board just 18 points have been added in the subsequent 14 matches, very much mid table form. Take that into the last nine games and we finish on 69 points which won’t be enough. We need Marquis and Kane back to their best again otherwise I think we will be disappointed.
-
The two home games next week are massive if we get 6 points we will be in a great position anything less than 4 and I think we will struggle

Agree Dickos these two games next week against Bristol R & Walsall are all defining imo.
I know it won’t decide anything points wise but physicalogically it will be everything.
6 points from those 2 and I think we could go on to get 6 from the next 2 at Bradford and home to Plymouth.
Even IF we lose at Luton and then after those 4 games lose at Sunderland it will leave us needing just 3 possibly 4 points from the last 3 games.
Of course it’s all hypothetical as only BB has a cystall ball. He is the only one who knows how it is all going to be played out.
-
Just had an in depth look at remaining fixtures of our rivals and predict the following for what it’s worth.
Coventry to get a max of 15 points from 8 games = 71
Blackpool 16 points from 8 games = 69
Peterborough. 12 points from 8 games = 67
Fleetwood. 13 points from 8 games = 65
Those predictions are fairly generous to those teams and include some games against each other.
The Coventry total includes a draw at the Keepmoat.
Would not swop any of these teams fixtures for ours.
It’s in our own hands and i would be very surprised if we needed more than 71 points ( our goal difference is worth an extra point )
So 14 points for the Rovers from 9 games. Surely we can, can’t we?
-
7 points from the first 4 of those, steady enough
