I think this is how the final table will look. And I would sooner play Barnsley in the play offs and avoid Sunderland. Who do you prefer?
PTS
LUTON. 100
SUNDERLAND. 98
BARNSLEY. 90
PORTSMOUTH. 89
CHARLTON. 84
DONCASTER. 74
COVENTRY. 67
PETERBOROUGH. 67
BLACKPOOL 66 LESS DEDUCTION OF POINTS

I'll just be happy playing anyone in the playoffs
-
I've seen both Sunderland and Barnsley at The Keepmoat. I thought Barnsley were the more impressive of the two.
The key to the play-offs is often how you finish the season. Hopefully we've come through our bad spell and can finish stronger than the other contenders.
-
Portsmouth not out of the automatic race yet in my opinion having rediscovered their form .
In all honesty if we can beat Coventry tomorrow and create an 8 point gap on Sunderland and 7 points on Portsmouth I reckon we will grab the second spot .
The amount of games especially Sunderland have in such a small space of time to play , 6 in the next 20 days plus the scoreboard pressure may prove too much for them .
Monumental game for us tomorrow .
-
I hope you’re right tyke 1962. I can’t see us anything but 6th. I’d be happy at that because we can beat anyone in that league including Luton if we play at our best

Sunderland to get 25pts from their remaining 9 games? Unlikely with that build up of games.

I’d sooner play Sunderland in the playoffs
-
Sunderland . Barnsley and Donny to boost the Yorkshire championship!!
-
If we go up I’d like Barnsley to go up as well for another local game next year. If we stay down I’d like Barnsley to stay down, partly for the same reason and partly to avoid the inevitable gloating on here.
-
Nothing like getting ahead of ourselves eh......... I think we should try and make the play-offs first.
-
If Barnsley go up good luck to them, they will have earned it.
As far as the gloating goes I'm sure that one or two on here would be visiting their site were the positions reversed. It's no good giving it if you can't take it.
Enjoy the highs as it helps you get through any lows later.
-
Sunderland. The weight of expectation on them will be Leeds-esque...
-
Think we’ll drop points to Coventry and Plymouth but win the rest hope that’s good enough
-
I'd rather you take three points off Coventry if you don't mind.A bit of neighbourly help. :scarf: :scarf:

Not sure where you get those numbers from Upton. Highly unlikely Sunderland will be any where near that total and i think you have been very generous to Luton, Portsmouth and Charlton. I will be very happy indeed with 74 for us. 72 is more realistic.

Since when has Sunderland been in Yorkshire?

It’s a full stop, not a comma. “Sunderland” is the answer to the question “Who would you prefer in the playoffs”, the next bit is a separate statement.

Thanks nick drfc 😀👍

Sorry, didn’t read it the way you intended.

No problem. Fingers crossed for 3 Pts today.
Good luck to the boys ⚽️👍
-
Well I reckon a victory for Rovers and ourselves should put paid to Coventry's play off aspirations leaving only Peterborough and Blackpool to challenge yourselves .
I can also see Rovers upsetting Sunderland when you go up to the SOL , your just the kind of side who will go up there and give it a real good go and relish the challenge .
-
Going on how they played us at the Keepmoat, I'd rather play Sunderland in the play-offs. Plus it would only be a short trip to the Stadium of Shite for me for the away leg :P
-
with the uncertainty of Brexit Businesses have been stockpiling a lot of stock
may i suggest The Dingles fans stockpile a lot of toilet rolls as they enter the dire-era of the playoff semis against DRFC :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

after tonights 3-0 win Sundayland's goal difference is now only 4 worse than than Barnsley
but the bad news for both is a striker Connolly 19 yo signed by Luton from Brighton on loan on Jan 31st - when he was injured !! has finally joined up with the mad hatters

Definitely going right to the very last game , Sunderland will drop points the hope is we cash in when they do .

I watched there game at Accrington tonight on iptv Accrington was the best team in my opinion Sunderland was trying to force the free kick and also played on the counter

as youwill all recall this match was a replay of the abandoned game much earlier in the season after playing 75 minutes torrential rain - at the time I decided Sundies would win the replayed match easily on their charge to the title (that bit isn't happening yet Luton are 10/1 ON to win the league - which is commonly known as stupid odds ) so
i am very very surprised on your opinion - bbc thinks differently
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47048639
- i said on here after Accrington let a 2-0 lead turn into a 5-2 defeat they would get relegated. They are very badly out of form at least points wise - lost 6 out of last 7 - presume they overperformed due to big fish syndrome but saturday is their waterloo (remember they had an earlier water-loo in the abandoned Sunderland match :) )when they host in form AFC Wimbledon they also have to play Luton Rovers & Portsmouth
-
Barnsley for me although our game against Sunderland could decide this one way or the other in any case.
-
I think Barnsley may have their bad period about now just when it matters, I can see them falling away and leaving us to play Portsmouth or Sunderland, and them playing Charlton.
The biggest risk is whether we make the play offs
-
Charlton have been the best side out if the 4 in my opinion

Bad run or not we still remain undefeated in 20 games Selby .
Despite the draw on saturday I thought we looked a bit more like ourselves and played some very good football .
I was disappointed with the result but performance wise we were perfectly fine .
Sunderland have to play Peterborough away , Portsmouth , Coventry and Rovers at home , they will drop points .
They may find themselves in a game on Saturday at a rejuvenated Rochdale , we will see .
All we can do is keep fighting and picking up enough points .
Word on the street is that Kieffer Moore may be back in a weeks time which would give us a boost , just a whisper and not official , he's trained for the last two weeks and saw a specialist yesterday , we will see .
If it's the play offs then so be it , the team is resilient , difficult to beat and coached by a German , they seem historically to be able to turn adversity in to a friend .
I think we will just have enough to get the second spot , mightily close mind you .
-
I'd rather play Barnsley, I think Barnsley are better than Sunderland but I wouldn't fancy going Sunderland in 2nd leg especially if they got a positive result at our place with how big they're crowd is. Where if we had to go Barnsley in play offs would fancy us to take a following like we used to there and be able to proper get behind the team.
-
I think it's worth pointing out where we are as a club and something you guys can take confidence from , not that you aren't confident enough that is and quite rightly too .
We as a club are under tremendous pressure to get back to the championship at the first time of asking , every bit as under pressure as Sunderland , Sunderland are a bigger club with greater media exposure but our pressures are exactly the same .
At least 6 of our first team squad will want away should we fail this season , Davies , Cavare , Pinnock , Lindsay , Moore and Mowatt are refusing to talk to us over new deals until they find out where we will play our football next season .
It's likely Pinnock , Lindsay and Davies will leave in anycase as all three are capable of attracting the attention of the big championship clubs , Pinnock could in my opinion join a lower ranking PL club , Burnley , Watford , Brighton for instance .
Our club operates on a two year cycle in real terms , all our players are signed under 24 years of age on 3 year deals for the most part .
Year two is where it gets interesting , if they shine by year two they leave for a substantial profit , if they don't they are either offered a new deal on similar terms or moved on and as much of our money back as possible .
Bradd Potts shined in year two and was sold to Preston in January for 3 times what we paid for him , George Moncur was a bit iffy and was moved on to Luton with 75% of our money back .
We don't let contracts run down into year 3 , this is because we were bitten severely by the loss of Connor Hourihane , Andy Yiadom , Joss Scowen , Marley Watkins and Sam Winnall who we had to let go in January 2017 for knock down fees or for nothing that summer .
We were as you know relegated the following season as a consequence .
So in order to keep the nucleus of this promising squad together we have to get promoted back to the championship and deals will be massively boosted in order to keep players here , to the tune of £6m across the squad I'm led to believe .
If we fail we are back in year one territory , massive recruitment spree , new squad etc etc , year one is problematic for us historically and that's likely to manifest its self in yet another inconsistent season by design and another year in league one .
We simply must get promoted or we are at a massive risk of at least another two League One campaigns to navigate .
-
Banter aside, I think you will finish 2nd, and hopefully we can follow you up through the play offs..
-
Interesting synopsis there, tyke, particularly your estimated budget figures. Just shows the levels of commitment that need to be made.
All I can say is good luck in the run-in and, personally, I hope you go up automatically. The pressure on Sunderland will be immense and I think we could take advantage, that’s if we in fact make 6th.
-
I’d like us to finish third beat Donny home and away and lose in the playoff final in a ideal world, and exactly the same next year and every year until I die, unfortunately I reckon we’ll go up.

With Groundhog Day dreams like that, I'd prefer you keep your nightmares to yourself and your therapist.
-
A rerun of this season next season will be a lot better than what Rotherham have had this year which is all we’ve got to look forward to if we do go up.

Yeah but that is always likely to be the case for clubs of our size.
I find it odd that you don’t want want your club to be promoted though.
-
The problem with that is that you never get to enjoy beating a much more expensive team thinking that you have no right to be on the same pitch.
There's no point competing if you don't want to go up.
-
Herd from a good Barnsley fan friend they have another player out got injured in training today
-
They will probably moove him on in the Summer if he's injured

Probably just tittle cattle.

What position does Tittle-Tattle play?
There’s too many double barrelled names in football these days.

Fake news, it's a load of Bullocks.

Udderly rubbish.

Whoever moo-ted that on the rumours channels wants a pat on the head!

Just like following Wall. The fun that can be had after seeing two bob Millwall beating big time Charlie, PL wannabees is great. We should be beating the likes of...blah, blah, blah.

Best players injured. Dingles will go back to their usual Hoof ball tactics.
