Post by: niteowler on April 25, 2019, 09:43:53 am
Just checked Latest Betting on Bet 365 for a Top 6 Finish in League 1 which is as follows :-
Doncaster Rovers 1/6
Peterborough       4/1
Coventry            25/1

Maybe worth ordering online? In the past I've been able to collect at the away ground when doing this if he's definitely going.

What are the odds if we don't get another point ?

No i think 6/1 for Peterbrough to finish in the top six is a great price. It's well worth £30 to soften the blow.
I certainly wouldn't back us at 1/6.

If we get 6th spot I’ll take the credit .. I’ve put money in Posh at 6/1... I NEVER win bets on footy so I reckon reverse physcology will see us through 👍

Same here (not a betting man), I've bet on Posh & Coventry to make the playoffs (not together!). 2 seasons ago bet on Plymouth to win the league because I knew we'd blow it... then Portsmouth came out of nowhere and beat both of us!

Pre-season I backed the rovers to finish in the top 6 and only got 4/1 at Corals.

I very much doubt we'd be 1/6 if the bookies had sat through the last 180 minutes we've played.

What are the odds if we don't get another point ?

Tough one.

To find the odds of us NOT going up if we get zero more points, you'd have to tot up all the permutations of Peterborough getting more than 4 points
(WWW, WWD, WDW, DWW, DDW, DWD, WDD, WWL, WLW, LWW,)

And then factor in the odds of Coventry winning their other match, ( of course, they'd have to beat us for us not to get another point).

Strictly speaking, you'd have to have to make allowance for the likelihood of neither Peterborough or Coventry getting enough goals to catch our GD, in the event that they got enough points to match us. But let's ignore that

It'd need someone with a better grasp of Binomial Theorem than me to figure that out exactly. And knowledge of the likely odds for the matches beyond tomorrow.

But, taking some realistic odds for the next few matches, I reckon Peterborough would have about a 40% chance of getting more than 4 points.

And according to the bookies, Coventry have about a 41-44% chance of winning on Sunday (odds are between 5/4 and 7/5).

So, assuming both Coventry and Peterborough have, say, a 43% chance of catching us if we don't get another point and a 57% chance of not catching us, that means that the chances of of neither of them catching us are, I think, about 2/1 against. Or, alternatively, it'd be about 1/2 on that one or both of them WILL catch us if we lose both games.

Best get summat tomorrow then, eh?

EDIT.

Arseholes. Just realised that to beat us, if we don't get another point, Peterborough have to get more than THREE points, not 4.

So you'd need to add in the possibilities of them getting

WDL, WLD, DWL, DLW, LWD or LDW.

That means there's a 69% chance of Peterborough topping us if we lose both matches.  Which means that the chances of one or both of Peterborough and Coventry NOT catching us if we lose both are about 9/2. In other words, we're about 2/9 on to lose out.

On the other hand, if we get a point tomorrow, the odds on us not making third place move out to about 7/5 against. And if we win tomorrow the chances of Peterborough catching us are about 11/2.

It’s up to us to do the business. If we win both games then game set and match. Simples.

Just one big mistake there BST, Peterborough only need 4 points if we lose our last 2 games not more than 4.
but not to worry as we WILL win at least 1 of our them

It's worth a tenner at 6/1 tbh. If we fail to pick up points this weekend and Peterborough do then that 6-1 will be a lot shorter.

I’m the worlds worst gambler hence I don’t bother other than Grand National and a lump on Rovers each year.
As I’m so bad I’ve just put money on Posh and Cov - that’s them done then

I fancy peterbro to get 6 pts from their remaining 3 games, meaning we would need 3.
Its not gonna be easy.

1/8 on sky bet now 👊

that 6/1 Peterbrew with Betway has all gone now 4/1

as for sky they offered 25/1 Huddersfield to win last night  (remember Dick Turpin when he did his "deeds" at least "wore a mask")
