We are play-offs specialists with a 100% record, I don't think any of the other play-off teams will have such a record. We might not be the greatest league team, but play-offs......? (If we do make the play-offs).

How many times ?

2 out of 2 Yes that’s 100%
-
Yes . They all must be quaking . Mind games already .
-
We have had two extreme finals as well - winning Stoke by the golden goal and then playing a massive local derby at Wembley.

Yep, Leeds thought it was going to be easy for them.
-
....nor have we lost in any semi-final games.

A pessimist could say that we only have a 25% win ratio in the semis though!

You just did. 🤔

I don't remember playing Stoke in a play off final.
-
A draw is not a defeat, and over both legs we won both semis.

Yes it was played at D&R wasn't it?
-
I remember us playing D and R at Stoke, but that is not what the poster says. " winning Stoke with the golden goal".

Sorry mate, just pulling your leg...you are of course quite correct.

He doesn't do the foodbank.

No, I don't but I do respect those that do.

This thread now comes into play. We can win the play-offs.
-
Wow, just wow. For 85 mins I’ve been having kittens.
-
Does anyone know Charlton's play-off record?
-
Charlton have won playoffs in 87 and 98.
-
87 was div 2, 98 was div 1
-
Have they come up short in any other play-offs they have been in?
-

Lost 1-0 in both legs to Shrewsbury last May.
-
We've got hope then. Been on their forum, they already think they've won the play-offs, consider us weak opposition even in comparison to the Pompey and Mackems.
-
b*llocks to what they think of us. Game's won on the pitch, not the shite wrote online.
-
False sense of grandeur perhaps, their 4-0 beating of Rochdale might work in our favour, as most of their forum fans think on the back of this win, they only need to turn up to win against us. What happened last year might yet haunt them.
-
Well we beat Rochdale 5-0.

Bugger. I was gonna play Boomstick as our secret weapon.

... and not for the first time I say " the Goal at Stoke v Daggers was not a Golden Goal but was clearly shown in the Programme as a "Promotion Goal"
If I do nowt else in my life I am determined that we should remember that and refer to it correctly. As far as I know I dont think any other Tie decided by such a "Pomotion Goal" and so it is historic and we should sieze that !
Image is updside down but look in your own Progs (p-l-e-a-s-e)
-
QED
Maybe someone with "nous" could download the image and post it again the right way up please
Golden Goals work exactly the same but this was clearly NOT one as you have hopefully read - and its a bit of history we should be "embracing"
-
Talking of Stoke...had a chat with Franny Tierney today. Made a great day even more special.
-
Did you say what a great Promotion Goal that was at Stoke lol
-
I remember a few years back, when Charlton were freshly dropped into this division, they got surprisingly beat by Swindon in the semis. So they are far from perfect in their record at this stage. This was a Swindon side that contained Charlie Austin but one which lost the final to Millwall, I believe.
-
Last time in play offs we conceded one goal in three games and that was in 88 minute when we were already 5-0 up in the home leg at Keepmoat.
-
Remember our play-off record is better than Charlton's, and they lost in the play-offs last year, that will haunt them.
-
Promo Goal
-
Thanks PNousW !
I might try to make an Avatar of the appropriare bit now lol
-
Keep in mind, we are better at play-offs than Charlton :scarf:

I made this and then did not like it as much as my current one. That has lasted me 11000+ posts so I stuck with it
-
You are of course correct Wolfie, but then the Promotion Goal falls in the category of Golden Goal (Venn diagrams ;) ). And for me, that sounds so much more classy. None of which matters more than the absolute elation at the moment it went in following the stress of when they were threatening to score.
-
I still remember a header from them in the first half of extra time (I think) which missed Warringtons Right hand post by a narrow margin - and would have won it - but I think was offside . I think it would have been given though by the Ref one Andre Marriner
A lot of maybes there I suppose - but for the record I DO think Golden Goal sounds better  :scarf:
-
Win tonight and we can head to a final, where winning would give us three play-off victories.
-
The playoffs specialist not Portsmouth and Leeds come Rovers let’s prove we are more than underdogs. Scunthorpe away,in league cup, performance will light up Charlton's ground and Sky TV.
