Title: Sportmanship
Post by: MachoMadness on May 04, 2019, 10:35:51 pm
How much is it worth to you?

Relegation 6-pointer at Plymouth today. Argyle are 2-1 up against Scunny. Then this happens.

SKitsons didn't let Plymouth walk in a goal in reply. In the end it didn't matter - Plymouth won but both sides went down anyway. But if Scunny had gone on to win and results meant they stayed up at Plymouth's expense... well, if Rovers won a crucial game like that, what would you think?

FWIW Scunny's chairman came out and apologised after the game.

Players can not assume control of the game....if he needed attention he should have thrown it out for a corner then gone to ground....
I’m sure the resultant corner would have been passed to him...

I’m of the opinion that unless the officials stop play....it’s “live”

Based on what actually happened I doubt that the corner would have been passed to him.

Rhetorical or supposition ? , mine is merely an opinion...!

The bigger problem is footballers faking injuries. That's cheating, and its infested the game.

Scunthorpe player well within his rights. The rule are quite clear, head injury the ref will stop it, any other injury its play-on until either it goes out of play or the ref stops it.

Agree in principle CiM in terms of the ref stopping the game and not the players, but the Plymouth goalie wasn’t faking. He hobbled off the pitch after the goal assisted by the physio. Although I assume you were making a more general point

That's disgraceful by Morris. I understand the desperation but when the goalkeeper of all people is injured, you have to stop and let him be treated, come on. Pathetic by Morris, and I'm glad it didn't matter in the end.

I'm still fairly pleased both sides got relegated, to be honest.

What's not being mentioned is that earlier in the game Morris was down with a head injury and Plymouth played on and nearly scored. I think this is what led Morris to do this.

Having said that, it's not right, and if anything I think Dawson shoulders more blame for not letting them score again.

Yet again I’ll say it is up to the ref to stop the game, play to the whistle

Morris is a very good player and might be a good one for us to try to sign in the summer given Scunnys relegation.
