Made me think one thing we could do with is a bit more pace or directness for next season wether in this league or championship
Think a lot of the Coventry players would be good liked there full backs a lot no3 stood out for me
Wonder with there problems off the field wether we could raid there better players?
Plus quite liked a few Burton players ,think they have a good starting 11?
Just hoping we can build on this team and have another good season with recruitment, think full backs are a priority , then like I say a couple more creative quick / direct type players ?
Just a distraction before the massive games ahead,
Thought Blair had a great second half
And just thought we look a lot better when he uses his pace more ,wether cutting inside or outside , wish he did it more often .

Still same priorities wherever we end up - need full time right back, at least one and likely two centre midfielders and one central striker to challenge Marquis.
Other signings depend on where we end up with out of contract players eg new left back potentially.
-
Challenge or replace?
-
Tom Eaves
Graham Carey
Ivan Toney
Josh Morris
Billy Kee
Sean Mcconville
Dominic Hyam
Gavin Whyte
Lyle Taylor
To name a couple
-
Williams for Charlton, he tore us apart at the Keepmoat
-
What about a Cheeky raid for Ivan Toney if we go up - he’s young & very talented but has not very much between his ears - there’s been a lot of footballers like that so brains not necessarily a stand out requirement

I think I will leave this to Grant, he did a great job in a couple of weeks this season, and I am sure he will have his targets already sorted.
I wouldn't mind Smith if Sheffield United were willing to let him out again, or even on a permanent. Probably not as a starter, but he has potential, and would not cost the earth.

There's definitely some good talent around that wouldn't cost the earth although some of those above I don't think will be right for us.
Eaves might be a good shout. Carey strikes me as being high maintenance. I don't think Tony will be on the radar.
I'm sure McCann has his targets already. I'll be shocked if specialist right and left backs are not among them.
-
Toney would cost too much... eaves is out of contract I think...always liked Oztumer. Would imagine all Bolton players will be available on a free soon enough
-
See Echo on different thread

One under the radar for you , George Dobson at Walsall , superb young talent in the midfield .
Tom Eaves is certainly worth seeking out , struggling team scoring goals is always worth looking at .
Curtis Nelson at Oxford looks a very good centre back .
-
Dobson looked excellent against us, and far more mature than his age would ordinarily suggest.
-
Not one for next year yet, but Welsh international Jonny Williams at Charlton will tear us a new one in the play off's if he's allowed to have a free reign.
He only signed a 6 months deal in January , so is out of contract in June.
I don't think it's a coincidence that Charlton have been on a fantastic vein of form since he signed.
Even if we go up i think he will be out of our price range .

We’ve got a young central midfielder called Matty Wolfe, only eighteen years old and six foot three, he’s had a few injuries otherwise I think he would have been in our squad, you could do a lot worse than loan him in for the season if you’re still in league one.
-
I’d go after Freddie Ladapo from Plymouth. Carey comes across as a Forrestor and think his contract would be pretty big.
Think a cheeky raid for Toney would be decent ;)
-
Lameiras at Plymouth
-
Toney is too boney but gets in the zoney

Has no one told you we are playing against you in the Championship next season.

Not a potential signing but, Henderson from Rochdale. If he can get 20 goals for them, how many would be get in a top team.

Ivan Toney to piss off Peterborough

I think he's nearly as old as copps now. Saying that he's probably one of our best players so if we stay in league 1 Henderson could be a good backup to Marquis
-
The Oldham goalkeeper, who I think is contracted to Leicester. Very impressive against us.

Henderson is not the same type of player as Marquis though. Someone like Eaves would give us a plan B
I don’t think you could effectively play them together though.

If we have learned anything from this season it should be that we’ll not second guess Grant McCann both on team selection or who's fit and who’s not he holds his cards close and when this season is finally over up or down only a handful of people will be in the loop as to what players are his targets.

Not sure how many times it needs to be stated, but Tom Eaves is one of the best strikers in the league, we are not signing a player of that calibre to be a "Plan B". People need to get away from this 'big man on the bench' idea for a striker. We don't play in a style that could suit it. Finding someone who can do what Marquis does is a tough task.

Johnny Williams of Charlton has been by far the best outfield player I’ve seen this season. When Charlton went 2/1 up at our place, Bowyer inexplicably took him off and put a right winger on.
Give him the freedom he had at our place and we will have problems.
