George Boyd, Gary Hooper at the owls
-
Yes they are the 2 that took my eye as well.
Hooper would be a brilliant signing in league 1
I am not sure how good he is at Championship level anymore as not played much for the Owls this season.
-
Was on 30k a week apparently one for Sunderland if they don't go up
-
We’d never be able to afford Hooper, he’ll be on twice or three times what we could offer with a Championship club or a Sunderland.
-
See posh have released Ryan Tafazolli he was rated highly at Mansfield and could be a good signing if we don't get Downing in the summer
-
Not sure if tafs had a few injuries lately could be Ferguson’s thinking
-
How about Paul Coutts
-
Injuries don’t usually detract DF from signing players
-
Taffazoli turned down a contract off Peterborough.
-
How about Paul Coutts
Coutts is a good player, he'll stay in the Championship - you can bank on that.
-
Coutts had a bad injury and not as good since
-
I'm sure that Grant, like most other managers will have a list of players in various positions that he would be interested in.
He will need to know for sure which division we will be in though as this will affect wages as well as the ability needed.
-
I'm sure he will have 2 lists dependant on whether we go up or not
-
Frank Fielding would be a good addition to rovers keepers if they lose either lawlor or marosi
Assuming I've got the correct player in mind and haven't mistook the name for someone else.
-

He is not worth that anyway. He'll know that he's on inflated wages that responsible clubs will not be willing to afford. He'll have to cut his wage demands to suit. His recent record isn't good so I don't think he's one we should be considering anyway.
Rather look at young hungry talent than past their prime fat cats!
-
Of the Wednesday lot Boyd would be the best to get but still think he'll have a lot of interest from established championship clubs so probably not one we'd go for anyway
-
I think there are a set of fans at London Road expecting Boyd to rock up there
-
Some good players available from Sheff United as of today.
-
Once again, Boyd passed his best so too much of a risk!

Yes, one or two worth an enquiry!
-
Crainie, Coutts and Washington from Blades would be nice
-
Conor Washington maybe as a replacement for JM, if he leaves ??
-
Why is Maquis going to leave?
Unless someone comes in with at least 2 million i can’t see him going anywhere.
Is a Championship club going to pay that for him?
If we are in the Championship unless someone is going to double his wages he won’t want to leave.
-
I got one hope he stays however if not Ched Evans is available if we want a WUM (puts on helmet and awaits flack)

Who is he going to. Tell us what you know. My bet is you no more than anyone else.
Has a bid come in that has been accepted?
Total Speculation.

I know, just look at all the games Marquis has missed.
Dreadful manager Fergie.
Took us straight back up after going down but didn't win the title.
Not good enough.
I'd sooner have stayed in League 2.

Your completely missing the point.
You or i could have got that squad promoted
from League 2
1) How did we manage to go 16 league games without a win and get relegated?
2) How do you manage to come 3rd in a one horse race?
If that’s being a good manager then he was a brilliant manager.

I’d rephrase the original comment to this:
If we don’t go up it will be very hard to keep hold of Marquis.

Ok then, but my money is on him being a Rovers player next season whichever division we are in.
I may be wrong of course.

1. Relegation was a good thing. It enabled us to get rid of players and rebuild into what we are now.
2. Anyone who thinks promotion from League Two was a given is very simple.

I am simple then. ;) No seriously it wasn’t a given of course it never is. But we were head and shoulders better than everyone in that league imo. Only Pompey, Plymouth & Luton were even reasonably decent sides.

Getting relegated to the Conference was probably the best thing ever to happen to this club because we completely re-built from scratch.
At the time though i don’t remember too many of us being happy about it. Do you?

Nah, we were in the same bracket as those three sides but certainly not head and shoulders above them. Surprised to see such an arrogance about it, and Darren Ferguson should be commended for assembling the squad he did and getting us promoted with relative ease from that division.
I don't really like Ferguson and was never massively enamoured by his time here, but he deserves the credit for that achievement 100%.

RA there is nothing arrogant about my comment. We were head & shoulders above all but those three others mentioned. We were 8 points clear with 5 to play and should have had that winners trophy in the cabinet without any question imo.
DF recruited well & yes he put a good squad together, but a good manager doesn’t play people consistently out of position and in a formation that the players quite obviously were not comfortable playing in. As for his man management of certain players, don’t get me started.
You only need to look at the team this season. The players are all playing with a smile on their faces.
They were not last season, at times they looked thoroughly confused with their roles on the pitch.
I don’t think DF is very good at man managing or has much tactical acumen.
Shall we leave it at that.
