Title: Pompey v Sunderland
Post by: Campsall rover on May 16, 2019, 08:35:49 pm
Based on these two tonight and the 1st leg i am looking forward to the final when we beat Charlton tomorrow.
Us or Charlton are both better than these two teams on present form.

Both teams have been dire really.
I'd fancy the winner of the other game all day long .

One thing is for sure, we’ll be playing one of them next season guaranteed. And maybe one of them before this season ends. 😉

Not guaranteed at all that we will be playing one of them next season.
If we win promotion we won’t.

Longer Sunderland keep the clean sheet the more the crowd will start to bemoan every bad pass shot etc.

At the min they are seeming to get behind them.

Hopefully Charltons first game this season fans get on there backs if they don't score or concede early on

Police will know who he is now pretty obvious so will be getting a knock on door tomorrow morning.

Expect a huge pitch invasion if Portsmouth win

Sunderland really do know how to stifle a game. They are far from easy on the eye but seem to know how to do a job on teams.

Best two footballing sides got promoted. Best defensive side with the best keeper are in the playoffs but not good footballing side. But if Sunderland score in the final they will be hard to breakdown.

Unfortunately not Hound as I'm at work until 5:30, with no chance of getting out of it. Gutted. But I'll be there in spirit and yelling at the big screen. I trust you'll be there, so give 'em a scream for me.

If we get to Wembley, I'll seek you out and buy you a beer. That's a promise.

It sold out last week.

Don’t know if the seats in the away end were unsold away tickets or kept empty for segregation.

Home end sold out last Friday!

My bad, Fratton Park only holds 19600. I thought it was around 26k.

Bowyer was looking relaxed tonight in the crowd at Pompey, focusing on the game in a week's time rather than the one in 24 hours. Whatever he says, and nothing I've seen or read suggests anything else, he and Charlton are way too confident.

I'm a singer / songwriter / performer and way too cocky and confident, but I'm turning away work as even in 5 mins ago.  Do you think I'd be better off being nervous and unsure of myself?

I also lecture on the human condition...sorry.

No, but if you had a gig tomorrow where you were playing new songs I think you'd be better off focusing on those songs rather than going to watch some other band and trying to learn that band's songs.

Bowyer has lost it.

I do watch other singers / songwriters to observe audience reactions then that way I know what not to do.  A bit like spying on the enemy.

Suppose I'm a bit like Bowyer..."lost it"

You know, like the Leeds lot did.

I wrote them one two years ago (it's a bit rough as I was still learning to sing) but they didn't want it because I don't hate our owner.

I'll rewrite it for Donny if you like...I can't bear that it sits on youtube with nobody to listen to it.

The Sky pundits seem to think Charlton are in the final already the way they were talking after tonight’s match.

Hopefully we can use that as some sort of motivation.

Only problem there is you're not playing the Sky pundits...….mind you, they'd probably beat you.

No harm meant, but you did give me a free hit.

Thought Sunderland were excellent and did a job on Pompey, restricting them to nothing barring a couple of crosses. Through the middle, Pompey created nothing..Pitman was absolutely marked out the game as well and for all his moaning did nothing to affect the game in any way. Cant believe he did not get hooked - he was so poor .
McLaughlin great between the posts and did his job. Yes but Pompey made his job easier with headers placed right where he could make routine saves Oviedo good too.

MOTM undoubtedly O’Nien who was a threat, did his job well and had to put up with the idiots on that side whenever he took a throw.

Spot on from Sunderland. Really, really, really impressed with how they pretty much reduced one of the best attacking teams in the league to nothing. They did and I know you will have a different view - but I hated the way they played - just far far too cynical from the first whistle - and of course CAST IRON Penalty not given when Ozturk turned wrestler again.

Think that was a very good performance. Excellent tbh and from a defensive aspect in the final, if they get a lead and reproduce that performance they’ll go up.

Gooch was also decent when he came on.

I agree wholeheartedly with campsall on the opening thread.  If we can pull it off today we have nothing to fear as long as we don’t have one of our first half non performances

Ah - you did a misread. I was saying Pittman should have been "hooked" / subbed as he was so poor. He looked like a sulky individual and yes he was Booked / Carded after losing the Ball on the edge of their area and then completely scything off Honeyman

Ozturk should have conceded a Penalty when wrestling Butler to the floor at SOL. No question - all the Pundits said a clear penalty. When he went down later with cramp they replayed his wrestle on Butler and said he should have cramp in his arms after this challenge

So last night he was at it again and even though I had no involvement in the game it should have been given and if he got a Yellow Card as well then GOOD.

If it leads to games in the short term ending 6-5 but eventually stops players doing it then I am sure I am not alone in saying bring it on

You are right with O'Nien as well but all teams have at least one wrestler. Smalling should be in WWF as he hardly ever goes for the ball.

Agree with you Wolfie.
If it is a pen for holding in the first few minutes then it should still be given.
The time in the match shouldn't have a bearing on it.
As we know though, it rarely happens and if it ever does it is unlikely that a ref would give another pen in the same game even if the offence was more obvious than the first one.

This is the great thing about such an important game. The camera pans on Bowyer and Jackson for a few seconds and he is looking cocky etc... whilst not even knowing he is on camera. I think there is a good chance your manager was there also. I wonder if he was looking cocky! That is what managers are supposed to do isn't it? :). Watch possible opponents, not look cocky I mean!

Seriously, all those who are coming today, have a safe journey. See you at the Valley.
