Pair of arseholes deserve each other.
-
Another very good signing for them
-
No surprise there, only that it took so long to announce it.
-
That makes 7 so far!
-
That move is as surprising as:

Good player, t**t of a person.
-
Perfect fit for that horrible club. Should add even more spice when we play them
-
Good player, t**t of a person.
How well do you know him?

Let's not have that debate again it's been done to death...
-
Good player given a second chance.
-
He is a very good player, who just happens to have a conviction and is on the sex offenders register. It’s up to Posh to deal with that aspect now..
On the field, a very good acquisition for them..
-
Didn’t see this one coming

Yes they’ll have gone into it with their eyes closed.
-
I’d just ask Peterborough this pertinent question...
You’ve spent well for the past three summers, built a ‘strong’ squad who have then ultimately failed to deliver every time.
What makes this year any different?
They’d probably answer that they’ve a new manager that has got them promoted twice already out of this division.

And was sacked for failing last time...
Got them into championship twice though, so that’s what they will say.
Never even been close since
-
I might be mistaken but they also got relegated on the most points ever in the championship something like 56

My take is, the best of luck to the lad, he paid the price for doing something wrong, and our club took the decision not to employ him because of his foolishness in life not as a footballer.
These things happen, 18 months ago I would have been willing to let him go anyway, as at that time he was a poor defender, but still had a year on his contract, the manager played him all over the place, he is not particularly fast, and there was better about at other teams.
In fairness to the lad he played better to the end of that season, and the first half of this season probably because he played mostly at right back and settled there. Was he the best in the division, far from it, can we get better yes, should he be ostracised for ever for his mistake, not in my book, although I am quite pleased he is not with my club, he does not come up to the standard of conduct required by us.
-
Very disturbing comments from Ferguson as well. Although given his track record with women that's probably not surprising.
-
Peterborough can't value their presence in the community very highly, is all I would say.
Glad I'm a Rovers fan and not a Posh fan right now.
-
Some Posh fans not happy. One has put Adam Johnson next
-
Peterborough value themselves as a family club and so do Doncaster Rovers.
One of these clubs sacked a registered sex offender the other signed him.
Says it all really. Proud that we have some morals in our boardroom and actually believe in the work they do for the club rather than doing it for an audience.

I think some are not thinking this clearly imo. Yes Mason will be on the sex offenders register.
Yes he has been very stupid and i in no way condone what he did quite the opposite, but he is not a pedo is he, nor did he commit rape.
If he has shown genuine remorse should he not be allowed to resurrect his football career?
Second chance surely should be acceptable in his circumstances.
Just because he has gone to Peterborough and re united with DF i think very silly comments are being posted on this thread.
Just like to add yes i agree we were right to cancel his contract at DRFC.
-
Good player.
Good bloke.
Good luck to him.
-
Not this again, please.
"It's not as bad as rape or paedophilia" is NOT a defence. "That is worse than this, so this is okay" shouldn't be an excuse in anything.
-
It’s certainly not ok, but shouldn’t be even spoken about as the same crime as paedophilia or rape.
He messed up big time, but it’s not the same hence why his sentence wasn’t one that a rapist or paedophile would have got

No one said it was ok did they.
So what are you saying Alias? Should he be allowed to play professional football again or not.
YES or NO?

I saw the news this morning by the way and there was a piece about a woman who had a murder conviction overturned.

Good. We both have faith in the legal system then.

Well actually when I heard Nialls account of things first hand my view of what probably happened was changed.

Great. When the legal system starts working on that basis, get back in touch.
This thread hasn't got a lot to do with football any longer. Perhaps it could be moved?

So a man convicted of a sex offence meets a stranger, persuades said stranger that he was innocent and the stranger then dismisses the views of anyone who takes the conviction at face value? Got it.

That just shows how people jump to conclusions.
He isn’t a stranger to me, he is a friend.
Got it now have you?

Whatever actually happened, and irrespective of his argument on dodgy legal advice, he has a conviction.
That’s the part Peterborough have to be able to deal with.

I know that, you do and they do.
It isn’t even an argument.

There isn’t an argument at all, just a statement of fact..
Not much point in saying owt else..

I happen to know someone who has been pestered by Mr. Mason a few times in the past.
To say this person who I know was not surprised by his actions in this particular case is an understatement.
He was becoming a good player at drfc - but imo probably needed to be shifted on after all this as the club values morals highly and he crossed the line with his actions.
I wonder tho, having seen the actions of several of the players and ex-players out and about over the years (including some of those regarded as almost whiter than white) if his antics have been escalated beyond some others because he was caught and the girl had the balls (for want of a better word) to take it as far as she could legally wise!
-
It’s done. The club has moved on. We should too.
-
Signed to play left side of attacking three.
-
Yup - good luck to him as a footballer.

Are you DF’s long lost cousin or something Dickos as you will not accept one bad word against him.

There’s been dozens of comments about playing players in daft positions I’ve not commented on them.

Don’t know why people can’t move on from
Him

Don’t keep relying to any of these comments then.
-
As I said I don’t,
It’s a daily occurrence and plenty of folk are getting bored of it and telling them to move on but the same old people can’t
-
I’m very surprised by the FA considering that a huge percentage of support for league football is from under 18’s and considering all of the legal cases concerning grooming and sex assaults in the game from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s etc that they haven’t put in place a banning order for all persons conviction of sex crimes and put on the sex offenders register. The FA have no control and don’t seem to want any rules to stop scumbags being in the game.
As a minimum anyone on the sex offenders register should not be allowed to be involved in league football in England (preferably the uk). It sends out the wrong message and moreover footballers have community work that they are involved in, I do hope Mason will NOT be allowed to be involved in that work. It’s the same with Adam Johnson and anyone else convicted.
Footballers, due to their importance to impressionable children, should be treated like teachers or Doctors due to prospective audience in respect to sex offences.
-

It is not a daily occurrence. You have made that up. Much like you made up that fantasy statistic about Oxford United.
-
Oxford as good as anyone last 3 months of season, therefore think they will have a good season.
Only you could argue about something that hasn’t happened yet, let’s just wait and see who’s right eh?
-
It is getting a bit tiresome seeing the comments about DF playing players out of position.

That wasn’t what you made up. You made up that Oxford United had a record as good as any other team in League One in the second half of the season. That was patently untrue.
-
Which I altered a min later to the correct stat of the last three months. But you still kept banging on about second half of the season even after I’d altered it.
3 months is still a good enough period to come the conclusion that they will be looking to carry on that very good form and have an excellent season

Blair right back was a disgrace under fergie, 🙄
-
Put basically, this game, for most clubs, is all about success bringing in more funds.
A few years ago these clubs watched as "man slaughterers" (sorry) and rapists were released from prison and employed by clubs that got a few weeks of stick from certain quarters, but a season of successful football from these sullied characters.
The footballing world watched on and realised, in the majority, that the "cost" in investment of doing that, financial, implied level of morality etc... was far lower than the reward it brought on the pitch. So now clubs are prepared to sell out in order to improve the quality on the pitch.
Twenty years ago the moral high ground would have been a good few metres above pitch level.
-
My experience is that if you judge or even condemn a person for an action rather than for his or her person then you are on unsafe ground .Judging someone from an action that you were not witness to is even more unsafe .Judging that person without knowing him is doubly unsafe ..but that is how social media justice is often dispensed .

That's what we have the judiciary for, isn't Brian?
Plenty of people shout "innocent until proven guilty", but then won't accept the lawful ruling of guilt if it doesn't suit their view.

Blair right back was a disgrace under fergie,
Fergie didn’t need to play him there. GM had no choice. That’s the difference.
-
When mason was injured under fergie we didn’t have another right back,
McCann had Lewis
-
Lewis wasn’t good enough or was too inexperienced to take a risk with him and that’s why he didn’t play him after the end of January.
I thing if GM was honest he would admit it was not his best loan signing.
-
I agree and I also think Blair is a good right back but we’ve missed him further up the pitch for two season now.
The new signing should make a big difference

Yes definitely. Well let’s hope so.
