Title: Bowyer quits
Post by: ravenrover on June 17, 2019, 04:54:33 pm
That went well then, gets promotion then quits over wages

Maybe they don't want to be held to ransom over wages.

Maybe he wanted rewarding for the success he's brought them?

Not sure you should decide your own reward though. His contract must have had a promotion salary increase clause like most players would so he'll already have something to show for it

He has done a ‘Ferguson’ though and quit late in close season, so they are at a disadvantage already.

It not particularly late is it, only mid June.

McCann to Charlton?

It not particularly late is it, only mid June.

The new manager - who is likely to take a week or two minimum to sign up - is 4-6 weeks worse off in terms of shaping his squad than his peers in the league. He has lost that time and will not make it back this season.

McCann to Charlton?
Why? Charlton are in financial trouble and can't match Championship wages?

Don’t think he was ever comfortable being manager there

Club statement says they’re not bringing anyone else in until the club is sold.

Also it looks like Joe Aribo has just signed for Rangers. Rumours are Bauer will be next to leave and a few expecting a low offer being excepted for Lyle Taylor. Brilliant what promotion gets you eh..

Anything could happen now we’re leaking players , so why not him going as well  . McCann has to know that  we don’t buy players , and board know absolutely f*** all about player recruitment or left back from Central midfielder. The signs are their to be seen , no evidence that they have a plan D never mind a plan A, B or C . The writing was on the wall with our piss poor preseason fixtures , says it all . S*** budget .

Oh my god, I bet we can’t fulfil our first pre season game as we won’t have any players.

Ah but would he leave for more money?
Surely that would be displaying double standards.

Why?
The issue was Andrews negotiating tactics, and going back on his word.

Get over it, he won’t be the first, or last, to try to improve his earnings.
It happens in football.
Marquis signed a three year deal and could be off after two for more money.
McCann is under contract as well.

Ironically though,we had our highest league finish since before Fergie, when Fergie left us at a disadvantage.I don't think either DF or Bowyer planned the timing of their quiting, its likely to be about unhappiness with something to do with the plans for coming season.
Just had a thought, could he be leaving for a bigger club?He did get a club with off field problems and apparently lower budget than the club has been used to promoted.Next Leeds manager?

“talkSPORT understands Lee Bowyer wants to stay as Charlton manager and has been left 'bewildered' by the statement from Roland Duchatelet announcing his exit”

Shambles!

I don’t think so.
Why you think we should give a hostile reception to one of our ex players is more baffling.
DA is only getting the best deal he can for himself and his family.
The injury he picked up a couple of years ago could have finished him and maybe that is in his mind.
Players are only an injury away from not having a job.
I guess you will apply that to Marquis then if he ever comes to play against us(assuming he does move on for more money).

My understanding was that Bowyer never wanted to be a manager anytime anywhere. He just fell into it

Apparently Bowyer and the chairman are holding more talks tomorrow. He probably won't leave.

Trying to compare the Andrew situation to the marquis situation tells me your missing the point.
The 2 situations are completely different.

He hasn’t
Bowyer was out of contract and couldn’t agree a new deal.
The state of their owner makes me think it ain’t bowyer at fault

Well they are different if you think that two players leaving the club for a better deal elsewhere is different.

Nobody questioned Danny Andrew and his ethics when he left Grimsby for us did they?
I remember that some of their fans weren't best pleased.

You make a very good point Idler, that's how football works, money does the talking.

If GM brings in players the quality of Sadlier I would be more than happy with that.

Perhaps Chesterfield would be interested in selling their new super star they signed from Morecambe?

Relax, I jest!!!

Wernt grimsby in league 2 and we were back in league 1? If it was the case then he moved to go up the leagues not stay in the same league. Saying its due to the ambition is both an insult to both clubs and a crock of s**t

I know that godlike. I was commenting on Grimsby fans saying there was a lack of loyalty after they stood by him after injury and then he left.
He moved up a league then but has moved downwards this time.

Not unreal. 12 month extension, presumably on terms he favours , so yesterday did him a favour.

Playing the game, and it seems Charlton's board blinked first.
