Title: Next seasons fixtures
Post by: drfchound on June 18, 2019, 09:06:54 pm
To deflect attention from some of the more negative stuff being talked about I thought it would be good to mention that the fixtures for next season are released on Thursday morning at 9am.
For me, it is always a big day.
It means I can get the matches on the calendar and plan other stuff around them, making sure I don’t miss a home game or an away game that I want to go to.
The wife has never twigged why I won’t book our August holiday until late June 😉.

At the moment we won't get 3 points from anyone but when we signed our players and they all settle in then we will

Key game for me (& I guess most) is Boxing Day.....one of my many gripes is this one.......Fleetwood away last year......taking the p@@@.
My suspicion though this year is Sunderland at home!
Reason - in theory we should be at home this time & its Sunderlands closest game ( last year they played Bradford at home?).
Taxi for Gillingham?........

If it follows the pattern of the last 7 seasons, it will be a home game this time.

Think it's just random though isn't it?

I would like a decent away day first up and probably away on Boxing day too, love last day of the season away too but it's unlikely we will get all three.  Just hope that the likes of Lincoln away,Rotherham,Tranmere aren't on midweeks.
Home games on a midweek suit me much better.

Hunch for either Ipswich or Bolton at home.

Tranmere away on the opening day is probably my preferred choice. That or Shrewsbury, also away.

A home tie on Boxing Day would be very welcome, don't mind who against. Sunderland at home on a Saturday too please.

The races are on on the first day of the season just announced yesterday with rock bands so will be a popular day for race goers. I dare say we will be away first game.

I have the same plans as hound has mentioned, I try and plan weekends away, wives go shopping, the fellas go to the game, see the sights and stay overnight at a pre booked hotel in advance for the cheaper rates..........and then Sky TV spoil things by changing the fixtures

Looks like we'll need to make hay during October, November and early December, then Feb through to mid April as either side of those we have fixtures against who you would expect to be play off/promotion contenders.

It was the first home game for sure, and if I remember quite entertaining despite being 0-0..

It was the first game, two years ago. 0-0 but we battered them, Tomas Holy had a blinder in the Gills goal.

This will be Steve Evans' first game in charge for them.

I think the fixtures are good, particuarly for us over Christmas and Easter. On paper (I know, I know) a reasonable start for us to get some points on the board in August, but yes a tough run-in I expect.

On a personal note, annoyed that Bolton away is on a Tuesday as I really wanted to go, but I am hoping to tick off Tranmere and Shrewsbury at least this season and they've both fallen nicely. The prospect of our away games with Pompey and Sunderland being moved for the F.A. Cup 3rd/4th Rounds is a bit shit.

Oh, and Rotherham at home is on my birthday weekend. Joyous!

Not what I particularly wanted, just a lucky guess that's what it would be.

There was a networking breakfast event this morning for the clubs commercial sponsors. Could it be they got the fixtures there prior to public release.
