....the manager has left ,end of. So we now get another manager, if he is a free agent that’s fair enough,BUT if he’s employed at another club at the present moment don’t ever complain about someone leaving a job for another job . It doesn’t matter if you are football manager or a road sweeper, EVERYONE looks after themselves.
Are you still employed in the same job you started when you left school/education ?????

The way he’s acted lacks integrity. Not fussed about him leaving just feel angry at the way he’s acted
-
There are plenty of jobs where you think about integrity before salary. Mine for one.
-
I'm with you dickos. The shameful way he treated some of our players, and then p1ss3s off himself. He barely wished any of our leavers "thanks and good luck in their future careers".
I hope Hull have an atrocious season under him, and after DRFC I will be following Hull only in the hope that they lose every game and sack him.
We only needed minor tweaking for this coming season and he has weakened us so far.
-
Incidentally, I had 2 jobs in 43 years until I retired.
-
⬆️⬆️⬆️ You either have a career or a profession. I have a job, I stick it because it’s Monday to Friday,it’s close by,and my work mates are sound.

It's a shame Coppinger's loyalty never rubbed off on McCann.

Totally agree.. and for that reason I hope hes a complete failure at hull. I think theres every chance he will be.

F*cking greedy hypocritical tw*t who got rid of loyal players who just wanted a good wage. Well now you’ve got a great salary enjoy it for the next 6 months cos you’re on borrowed time with the nutters at Hull! F*ck you!

After watching the Rovers since the 50s I feel really let down by this.
The game that I have loved for so long just seems to be losing it's soul.
This is both in the men and women's game.
I don't know if Ican be bothered making the 90 mile round trip next year for home games. I just feel so disillusioned, there doesn't seem to be any honesty or integrity in football these days

Keep your chin up. Managers and boards come and go, only Copps is for life.
-
Our board seem to be more content to let events dictate themselves rather than make stand and just say “ He’s ours now F*** off”

Understand you feeling disheartened Idler, but in case you hadnt seen it take heart from what Copps put on social media tonight:
"To the players and fans of @drfc_official its important we do what we always do,stick together, work hard and prove the doubters wrong...AGAIN!"

If GM wanted to go, which he stated he did, then what else could they have done?

Made it so he didn't want to go!

Booooooooo, hoooooooooo..
If you think whining will do anything other than show weakness in the face of adversity ...think again..
We are DRFC...this is what we do....so quit ya mardy-arce-ing and get that exciting feeling for “another season of struggle”
The Normans, Saxons and Vikings are turning in their graves...

The best post of the last 2 days Idler. It's becoming obvious that the majority of players and managers nowadays are mercenary and self interested.
I'm rapidly becoming disillusioned with football.

My thoughts exactly. Offer him a longer/ better contract, increase his budget?.. perhaps they did offer these things or perhaps they werent that bothered to see him go?
-
When a manager tells you not to be held to ransom and let's players leave would you be held to ransom by that manager?
They had a ceiling and maybe it wasn't high enough.

Or perhaps his head had been turned? not everything is the club's fault. If your partner shags someone else, do you automatically question yourself or do you look at what kind of person they are too?

that is the exception mate I can never see another Copp's in football in this day and age

I might be in a minority but I go to the football for entertainment and a distraction from everyday life..
The politics of football, money, managers coming and going, how many lukewarm chips make a portion etc, are much less relevant to the highs and of course the lows of watching the games..
Why does it need to be any more complicated than that.?

Coppinger’s certainly an unusual case in that he’s spent as long as he has with us but let’s not canonise him...he’s a class player, an articulate speaker, and arguably my favourite Rover of all time but he also got off the bus on the way to a game to sign on loan for Nottingham Forest - he wasn’t displaying a great deal of loyalty at that point was he?
-
Not sure he had much choice in that one. Sure I saw an interview afterwards that said he wanted to stay at donny but needed offloading to ease the wage bill? Of course, my mind may be playing tricks on me?!
-
That's in the back of my mind as well, Lincs.
-

LMA rules, mate. There is a process to follow. The enquiring club has to ask permission of the club but it's up the manager to rule himself out. The club can't do it. It would be a restriction of opportunity otherwise.

That is something like what Copps related if I remember right.
I remember Copps in tears after the infamous Portsmouth game which confirmed relegation. That's how much it meant to him.
-
Not having anyone trying to question Coppinger's loyalty. The club was a mess needing a major rebuild when he left for Forest, and he gave it his all when he returned culminating in scoring the goal that won us promotion and our last league championship that season.
He could've forced a move any number of times at our Championship peak - particularly when Ipswich came calling - but unlike McCann and any number of players over the years, he never did and always has given us everything he's got.
-
Coppinger didn't make the decision to go on loan, no player does that. But he did want to play for Forest (who he has supported since a child), and he did want to play under Sean again, that's undeniably. The way Copps recalled it at the time was that he got a call from his agent at 12:30, he was dropped off at a service station near Bristol and his agent drove him to forest, and the rovers coach continued on to whoever we were playing.
When he went to Forest, he started very few games because they were playing a very narrow midfield with Gillet holding. He publicly stated his displeasure a few times and eventually came back the next window.
Saunders at the time claimed he didn't want Copps to go, so it was a financial decision on our part ultimately.
