Due diligence, references, background checks. It all takes time. I'd rather we did it than didn't!

So players are there and the new manager just has to agree they fit his plans. Who has ear marked said players?.

Glad to hear that we have players lined you ready to join as soon as the new manager is ready.

Can you imagine new manager on Tuesday afternoon followed by a couple of new players on Wednesday morning or maybe all at once group signing

Playing devils advocate what if the new manager decides he doesn’t want any of the players lined up

Every manager has a book of players they know they can sign, one of the things Gavin will have been doing this week is phoning the agents of said players to validate those claims, it’s just one of the stringent measures our board uses to ensure we get the right person so if the new manager doesn’t want any of those lined up they will have players ready who they do want.

My gut feel is that the new manager will want to bring in at least 1 player that he knows will do a certain job. As well as that, he’ll want a trustworthy assistant. Getting closer.

I suspect that the list won't come as a surprise to him before he's appointed and will be one of the subjects covered in the interview process.

The rumoured 4 men on the short list according to a number of media outlet’s on Twitter is Darren Moore, Michael Appelton, David Flitcroft and Steven Robinson

Hmm.  Those are the 4 names that have been most mentioned on here.

I'll take a guess at where the press get their 'inside' info.

We all know that Twitter is nothing more than a gobshite's paradise.

Not very inspiring if they’re the final 4 but need to remind myself we’re not Chelsea/Man City etc... Personal thoughts are no thanks to Flitcroft, don’t rate him, don’t know enough about Robinson to have a strong opinion, Appleton has been round the block a few times and got beaten to it by Dickov back in the day (that worked out well!!), so has to be Moore for me and he was my first choice before so not changing my mind - think he’d be a good fit all round and a potentially very good young manager.

Would be harsh to judge Appleton on the grounds that Dickov beat him to the job. That was on the basis of him being JR’s mate. Appleton went on to have considerable success at Oxford.

Moore and Appleton would both be strong and credible candidates in my opinion.

Appleton is very well respected within the game and a very good coach as to the rumour that is exactly what it is.

Probably from the same rumours..

They may prove to be correct, but let’s wait and see..

On style of football alone has to be Appleton above Moore, although interviews with Moore following his dismissal at WBA do make him more appealing and suggest that his direct football was more a legacy of the players he was left with by Pulis rather than his preferred philosophy.

Still just Appleton

Moore doesn't have evidence of developing players like Appleton. You won't really get that unless you've had a couple years experience like.

Moore has quite a bit of experience managing at u23 level. Just DM for me.

You mean here?

https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/doncaster-rovers-to-interview-managerial-candidates-on-monday-and-tuesday-with-a-view-on-an-appointment-later-next-week-1-9856656 (https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/doncaster-rovers-to-interview-managerial-candidates-on-monday-and-tuesday-with-a-view-on-an-appointment-later-next-week-1-9856656)

The article says

"A number of names have been mooted as potential candidates including former captain Darren Moore, ex-Oxford United chief Michael Appleton - who lost out to Paul Dickov when Rovers appointed a new manager in May 2013 - Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson and former Barnsley and Mansfield manager David Flitcroft."

To me, that only means those 4 names have been discussed but not necessarily that they are shortlisted, there is no hint of that at all.  Nor does it mean that other candidates are not on the list.  The key word is "mooted".

How we can deduce that those names are the ones shortlisted is illogical.  Of course, one or more of them may well be, but there will undoubtedly be other names in the frame which social media rumours have yet to pick up on.

Whether the above names are right or not, each candidate will have to impress Gavin/the board by doing their homework and laying out their vision for DRFC. Who they are or where they've been as a manager and a player isn't enough.

Nobody can prejudge what they will bring to the interview so there can be no favourite.

I know of them, but not enough to determine a favourite. We might underestimate what Moore's achieved as a coach before he was thrust into the limelight at WBA. I think Appleton has good coaching credentials and developed as a manager since he was rumoured to be up against Dickov. Not been overly impressed with Flitcrofts ventures into management and the way he comes across in interviews.

Don't know enough about the other guy so they all have an equal chance otherwise there would be no point inviting them for interview.

I am happy to go along with any of the applicants the board think is the best man for the job.
The main thing I would like is for them to get their No2 and not to upset the rest of the backroom staff who I consider to have done a very good job and would like not to disrupt, and have to start all over again. Just my personal view.

Let's be honest, there's not a cat in hell's chance that any of that could possibly be leaked from our end. Gavin and all the lads are in La Manga; David Blunt, Terry Bramall, and Andy Watson will be getting on with their own thing, and would never divulge that kind of information.

The only way a leak could occur is from the candidates themselves, via a family member or close friend. Even then, it's doubtful it would happen with all 4 of them.

I just wonder how many bets are placed by friends and relatives as soon as they know the job has been filled.
Easy money if you have inside information.

I highly doubt that is the four candidates, but if it was it's a decent group in my opinion. I wouldn't really want Flitcroft but any of the other three would be alright.

If all four were actually on the shortlist it says a lot about us as a club.

Parkinson is expected to stay at Bolton , but GB did say that he had spoken to Administrators about managers.
So that puts Parkinson and who else in the picture.

I thought GM meant administrative staff ie his equivalent, as opposed to company Administrators in the financial sense.?

He say's "administrators " so it could be interpreted either way , i took it as the ones who look after failing clubs .
