4 year deal, they could make some seriuos money if he continues to develop
-
Well done Barnsley even better that you beat the snake 🐍 to I’m guessing one his first choice signings
-
Brilliant that he’s turned Hull down to sign for Dingles... continues to prove that McCan wasn’t as popular with the players as it looked from the outside.
-
I was led to believe by a friend who works for the club that McCann wasn’t particularly popular with the players.

That or the 2k a week more than Hull were prepared to pay him , guess which one I'm going with ??

Personally I don’tcare, he’s not gone to play for the snake, and I’m happywith that 😀
-
He can become a fantastic player if he maintains the right mental attitude.
That he's gone to the dingles fills me with no pleasure what so ever.
-
McCann got his valuations of players wrong again, just like he did with Buts and Tommy!
What goes around........
-
Nothing but love for Malik from me.
Good luck yoing man.

Not too bad if he's out in 18 months for good behaviour ;)
Seriously though, I guess they have a line in the contract that says if you end up doing time the contract is void.

I’ve heard the same
-
Guess that means McCan't couldn't get him

Although the payment to Leeds presumably won't be.

Alex Ferguson wasn’t popular with his players. Weird thing football management.
-
Wish we could have kept him, think he's good now... potential to be better still. Of course this court case thing could scupper his whole career/life.

I’ve also heard the same from someone linked to the players... not one player came out to wish McCan good luck when he left. I heard him and butler especially didn’t see eye to eye

I think he was very popular with the Man U players
-
He would no doubt have been here had we gone up, hence a shame. Be interesting to see how he does at another club.
-
Makes loosing in playoffs that bit more gutting knowing if we went up he would of signed for rovers

Nothing’s guaranteed in this game, green pissed off after promotion
-
Pyssed Leeds fans off if nothing else going on what I've read on social media platforms .
One cheeky tyke even offering up " are you our feeder club now then ? " given we have just taken two young players off them this week .
That went well :woohoo:
The truth is of course is that Leeds are about the here and now and we have to go with potential .
-
Tyke you’ve one hell of a player just joined..im so jealous. A real fans favourite with a shed load of talent and a bad ass attitude. I feel gutted even though he was never ours

Well I sincerely hope so mush , he will get an opportunity with us and Stendel really rates him , this one isn't off our spreadsheet this is Stendel telling the recruitment team I want him at this club .
The club have backed Stendel all the way on this one because there's a few moving parts going on with Malik .
I hope to god both Stendel and Malik have their reputations in tact once the season starts to get interesting .
I get the feeling Malik wasn't on the recruitment teams wish list and Daniel has pushed for this .
More going on politically at the club than what many may realise over this signing .
Paul Heckingbottom never had a say in one player the club brought in .
-
Good on him.
Although, i'd piss myself if he gets locked up. Half my family are Barnsley fans.
-
Our Board backed Mccann , it's good to see that the Hull Board are doing the same...not.
Malik " Barnsley made me feel wanted " poor old Grant , wonder if he's sleeping well tonight and not having any doubt's.
-

From what i've been told, it was Byrne who was the driving force in the dressing room and training pitch.

Offered the lad more money per week , personally I think GM's had his trousers down going to Hull , absolutely no way should we at this time as a newly promoted club be able to offer more than a 3 time PL club with a decent championship season behind them last season .
If I was GM tonight I'd wonder by I bothered in all honesty .
-
Very good player in our league but very frustrating as well be interesting to see how he does at a higher level, he was unplayable in some games in others not so much
-
He was great in flashes but let’s be honest, he could be extremely frustrating. If he’s going to cut it at the level above he must improve the basics and Become much more consistent. He’s got potential but by no means is he anywhere near the finished article.
-
He scored 16 goals, entertained us and wound fergie up. What more do you want from a player🙄
-
Much rather him sign for Barnsley than Hull. Frustrating at times (not as much towards the end of the season) but by Christ can he play.
-
That Rochdale full back that moved to Scunny will still be having nightmares about Mallik, ripped him a new arshole 10 times over that day
-
Tyke - the way that Barnsley develop players, coupled with Mallik’s talent means you could have just ended up with another gem.
Make sure he moves to the area away from his Leeds past
Good luck
-
Got to agree with above comments, he was a joy to behold when he was in full flow, and frustrating as hell some other times. Still, if you don't try things, how do you know whether you can do them or not. All part of the learning curve I suppose. Anyway, congratulations Tyke, so pleased he is with you and not Dull. I hope he can entertain you lot at Oakwell as much as he did while he was with us. Gives us "Pikey's" something to smile about when driving through your Metropolis!! Good luck for the season ahead.
-
What’s the betting that GM comes out in the press and says Wilks didn’t have the right attitude and he only wants players who want to be at Hull?
-
At 0935 it is reported that Wilks signs for Barnsley then at 0945 Wilks signs for Hull!!!!
Who do you believe or does anyone care?
-
Where he goes to I am not that bothered, I am glad the lad has left that weeds lot though.
-
Chickens coming home to roost for McCann - totally embarrassing that Dull couldn’t compete with a promoted League One team to get players in -
-
Last 20 years I'd say without looking Barnsley have been in a higher league than Hull? Similar crowds now and nearer home probably a know brainer

Re your first point, Hull have been promoted to the PL 2 or 3 times in that period. Admittedly Hull were in the bottom tier for a few years at the turn of the century but Hull have definitely been the more successful team over the past 10-15 years.
That said, Barnsley is a club that has a proven track record of developing young players and Hull’s owners are trying to sell up so I wouldn’t be surprised if Barnsley actually offered him higher wages, so I don’t think it’s that surprising a choice to make.

Nah, Hull have been a better and more financially capable team for at least the last 15 years now, compared to Barnsley.
-
Hopefully you lot are right about this kid. Makes a change is buying a player their old fans like.
-

-
If you believe Wiki he’s already played 70 league games..
Whether he succeeds at Barnsley or not, he’s young enough to play a lot more than that..

I'd be surprised if he doesn't play more than 100 games. Infact I would be gobsmacked.

Just watching a John McEnroe at Wimbledon so.........you can not be serious.
-
In a nutshell, he was good against mediocre left-backs but struggled against good ones in league one. In the Championship, the mediocre left-backs will be equivalent to the good ones he came up against in league one, and the good ones will make him struggle even more.
-
I still expect Mallik to improve this season as he becomes more experienced.
