Everybody has had their say on who they want as the next manager.Maybe today, hopefully tomorrow we will know. There has been a lot of debate on each of the candidates interviewing yesterday and one thing is clear, opinion is split..Most want Moore, some want Appleton, hardly anybody wants Flitcroft and frankly nobody has a clue who Hudson is...
However one things for sure not everybody is going to be happy whoever they appoint.Thing is as fans all we know about any of them is the media interviews they have given, there win ratio's etc etc and that's about it..
The board have done days of background checks into them all, what they have had to work with and countless other criteria they have been examining. When they appointed GM last time nobody was jumping for joy, everybody wanted McCall..Turns out GM came into the interview after analysing everything he could about the club/squad and had a plan whilst McCall expected to get the job on his name alone.GM had a great season,SM got the sack at Scunny..
So whoever the club appoint, they will have done so because they were the best man for the job,had put the most effort in and convinced them that he will succeed..
It probably wont be the one you want, but whoever it is out of any of them, as fans I hope we can draw a line under it and give the man our support, as the season starts the moment he signs on the line..
So for me the biggest hope for tomorrow is not who they appoint, everybodys a gamble but that we can all move on from the old manager, lost players disappointment and start to look forward to seeing a new team,a new manager with a lot more positivity than weve had so far this close season..
-
Completely agree. The board and their process for recruiting managers has earned our patience.

Great post and exactly right.

Spot on. I think that any sensible fan of the club will feel the same.

One of the best posts on this subject

We are a steppingstone club and this could well
Be an annual event . RTiD
-
Wouldn’t want it to be a annual event, but at least it would have been a successful season :saywhat:

Show me the evidence to prove that please.

I agree with all the above even the last but one post
-
We were only a stepping stone for GM, not for Fergie, Dickov, SOD etc.. you could argue Saunders but who is he managing now.?
-
We all have to back the new manager who ever it may be
-
We all have to back the new manager who ever it may be
hear hear
-
Given the state GM has left us in player and manager wise, what are peoples expectations this season no matter who they bring in
-
Here here
I’ll go for “hear hear”! 😀
-
The question is would the board have appointed McCann knowing what they know now about his loyalty, and with that in mind, I wonder if the interviewers are putting more empaphis on assessing applicant's loyalty this time?

So who are you the literature police is so look at every post on here then pick on mine thank you

Brilliant post. Who evers in the dugout first game of the season will get my backing.
Follow the badge on the chest, not the fella in the attire.

It's like waiting for Xmas!
-
Liam Hodens on Twitter doesn't think they'll be an announcement today, reckons it'll be later in the week.

I think I remember us having the “here here” or “hear hear” debate last season.
There is a case for either version.
Anyway, roll on the announcement and let’s get cracking.

Wouldn’t want it to be a annual event, but at least it would have been a successful season :saywhat:
Here’s hoping
-
'eah 'eah as we Yorkshire folk say.
-
Great OP & totally agree, although someone tell me Fatty Evan's is out of the equation, he's the only one I'd struggle with.
-
It's like waiting for Xmas!
it is purgatory waiting like being in a dentist waiting room
-
I put it on because most people want Moore or even Appleton..If Flitcroft or Hudson get it you can see the response now..cheap option, blah blah blah..Some will be negative about them before they even sit down at their desk..We've had enough of that rubbish imo,it's time to look forward,we've all had our moan about GM but that's done because he wont be worrying about us that's for sure..
I've got a lot of faith in how our board go about it,they don't bow to fans demands to appoint someone within a few days. They make sure they get as much information as they can regardless of how long that takes..I doubt there is many clubs in lower league football who put the due diligence our board put into it..A lot of clubs lose there manager on a Monday and have a new one by Wednesday and a lot of the time he's gone mid season...
You can never legislate for a manager upping and leaving but we at least plan for a long term appointment and give our man a decent chance to get things right..
My own choice would be Appleton out of the names mentioned but if it isn't him no problem, because I will know that somebody else had been given better references, interviewed better and had a plan that the club could relate too and work together with..
So if it is one of the names that isn't the most popular so be it,they should get a clean slate,a warm welcome and our support because I firmly believe that regardless of budget if a manager feels part of a close knit group of officials, players and fans that's when you get the best out of them...
-
Another sensible post
-
If, say, Hudson is appointed I think there will be some frustration on here and I think in some respects the board will have made a rod for their own back if that happens by talking up the calibre of applicant. I don’t think that will have any bearing on once the season kicks off though and the new manager should have the support of all the fans from the off (or at least until results start to slip!)
-
Another sensible post
Don't worry DVR,It wont last..haha

Probably referring to previous managers ie , Saunders, McCann & Fergie walking away from the club , 2 of them to a “ bigger” club.
-
Doesn't matter if the announcement is today. What matters is that stuff is moving behind the scenes. If we have a manager signed up, we can start moving on his/our transfer targets whether it's announced or not. All the noises from the club suggest that'll be the case and the new manager will hit the ground running.
It is still annoying waiting, like!

They will make us fans sweat a lot more yet first lol they are good at that, don't you just love em

If the appointment has been made today, presumably the new manager has been told about the transfer targets as a matter of courtesy and for his approval. Does that mean that Gavin can get cracking organizing the transfer of said targets today. If so, we may have one hell of a days news coming up. Exciting times!!
-
I would think that is the case.. I expect opinions on individual players would have been in the interviews too..
-

All those who were interviewed were told of the players at the time of the interview

It's tough one that. Manager interviewed for a job with a list of immediate actions planned before he arrives. To get the job he has to either go with the planned changes in a positive way (either bullshit or genuine), or stake his claim with his own positive ideas.
Just a bit concerned that interview item of the targetted players could be erring towards a bullshitter or arse licker.

Unless, of course, the players are just too good to turn down
-
Potential targets might not want to play for the manager selected though.
You might not like the system that he is likely to want you to fit into.
-
I'm sure the manager will have a sit down with each of the players he's interested in that we've got a deal agreed with and tell them how they fit in.
-
At my age my first hope for tomorrow is to wake up.
It can go downhill from there.😉
