Title: Glynn Snodin
Post by: donny dave on July 09, 2019, 11:56:32 pm
Was this the other candidate.
No management experience but a well respected coach.

A good shout!

He would tick quite a few boxes with his coaching record. His connections and knowledge of players would be up there.

No doubt fits the bill in terms of understanding of the importance of the club being at the heart of community (from which he came)

Less likely to be overtly ambitious fot his own career and use the job as a 'Stepping Stone'.

A protagonist of on the deck football.

A head start in being embraced by the fans.

John Eustace maybe?

Glynn would get my vote above all the other rumoured candidates.

Although given Grayson has just joined Blackpool, history suggests Snodin wont be far behind him.

I had assumed John Eustace was the fifth candidate, and a credible one at that. Glynn Snodin clearly has lots to offer too, although the inference was that the fifth candidate had never managed in the EFL. I’m not sure if Snodin has been number one at any level?

In any case Darren Moore would still be my preferred candidate above all others - young, developing, new ideas and loads of potential.

Although I'd love him back here he appears to be loving it at Chesterfield.

I absolutely love Glynn Snodin and it’d be great if he did become manager - but I’d prefer the RIGHT man to get the job

Just been announced within the last hour that Glynn Snodin wont be joining Grayson at Blackpool as his  number two, with the role going to Ian Miller instead. Now given Glynn was his assistant at Leeds, Preston, Bradford, Huddersfield and Sunderland it strikes me as a little odd that he is apparently enjoying his time as John Sheridan's number two at Chesterfield so much that he  hasn't gone to Blackpool. Even the news reports in Blackpool saw fit to specifically comment that Snodin was widely expected to be joining him. Is Glynn in the running for a more attractive role somewhere perhaps?

Obviously I'm putting two and two together and coming up with five but you never know....

Always felt that Glynn should have been in charge with Ian as his number 2 back in 98. Thought Ryan perhaps got them the wrong way round.

There were a few games when Glynn was in charge of the team with Ian away and we always seemed to play better and win.

Yes that’s what I would call the dream team. Moore as manager and Glynn Snodin as coach.
Glynn has never it seems, wanted to be a no 1.
His forte is coaching, that’s what he is good at.
I would love it if that come to fruition but not sure the two of them know each other.
Glynn was not at the club when Darren was playing for us.

Peter Wetzel told me that Glyn was happier in the supporting role and as a coach (and was by all accounts a first class coach and particularly good with the younger players) so perhaps it was just an arrangement that suited the brothers?

The next few hours might prove me wrong but perhaps he has deliberately set out to avoid the No.1 position. He seems to have been so well regarded as a coach wherever he's been he must have had the opportunity to step up had he wanted to?

This would be an ideal scenario but we haven't got a no 1 confirmed yet, nevermind a no 2!
