At the end of August the DWP paid just over £1000 into my bank account shortly after paying in my usual State pension of £601.
I've just received this month's payment which has gone up to £674.
I've had no correspondence from them about any of this.
Not complaining like, but have any of you greybeards noticed owt similar.

I’m not retired so I may be wrong, am I correct in saying State pension is paid every four weeks? If so the £674 you’ve just recieved appears to be the maximum state pension you can get £168.50 per week, perhaps DWP have just realised they’ve been short changing you by £13 a week and now you have some back pay
-
£168.50 isn’t the maximum state pension that someone can get but you may be right about the £674 payment that TT is now getting based on the £168.50 per week figure.

Could well be Filo, as I should qualify for the maximum payment.
I've had several letters explaining my pension rights in the past, but nothing regarding any changes or about arebate which is odd.

Ok I stand corrected Hound. What is the maximum payment, by the way?

What is the maximum then, only about an hour ago I was looking at my state pension forecast and that is what it says £168.50 is the maximum anyone can get
As an add on to that, I understood that 35 years NI contributions was needed to get the maximum state pension, I have 40 years contributions but my forecast says I need another two years contributions to get the maximum, every thing is just confusing

I am not sure what the actual maximum is but individuals can get higher pensions based on NI contributions or by deferring their pension start dates.
It is strange that you haven’t had any correspondence about this.

I get £704:08 and this is with a deduction for the few years that I contracted out of SERPS in the 90s.
I could also I think have enhanced my pension as I deferred it for a year on reaching 65. I took the lump sum instead though and ended up with about £6,000 after tax I think.
