No forward on brilliant

No forward on brilliant
????
I can see 4 forwards there. Ok no traditional out and out no 9 striker, but to claim we have no forwards is quite ridiculous..
-
No striker would make more sense.
We’ve a very threadbare squad, a couple of injuries or suspensions and were always going to struggle.
-
Not saying we won’t get a result today but on paper, that must be the weakest bench we have had in a very long time.
-
According to the title of this thread we seem to be playing away at Pompey, rather than at home! :)
-
Hi guys, looking forward to a good game today 2-1, 3-1, 3-blot will do me.
-
Is Kwame ineligible today?
-
Is Kwame ineligible today?
I'm guessing he's not up to full fitness yet. And anyway he's not good enough. Apparently.
-
Looks a nice day to play, around 15-16 degrees without rain
-
Good effort off the bar from Alfie
-
And Taylor goes close
-
Was that Copps doing a cruyff turn in the middle of the park to bamboozle two of their players totally.?
-
How we doing? Sounds like we’ve created a few chances?
-
Another game where we’re missing too many chances
-
They haven’t exactly been sitters though have they.??
We are playing very well..
-
The one of Taylor’s and the sadlier one, should be scoring
-
Thanks, guys!
tjoughnhabe, IDM?
-
Typing and watching.!
-
Good morning everyone. Good to see we are on top, keeping Marquis quiet. Need some goals, who's up for scoring today?
-
Thanks, guys!
tjoughnhabe, IDM?
Ah, predictive text, eh? :)
-
8 shots to 2, 2 on target to 0. Rovers have this coming.
-
Pretty good performance.. Pompey not offering much threat.. we are moving it about well, and just need to make those chances a little more clear cut..
Alfie May very unlucky with his cracker hitting the bar, and what can we say about Copps that hasn’t already been said in the 140 years he’s played for us.!
-
Dieng playing well great move to take thee ball from ???? feet of attacker
-
Marquis subbed
-
Alfie injured.
-
Alfie injured.
Subbed?
-
He’s ok
-
He’s ok
Good news! Thanks, IDM!
-
Shit.. hit on the break after Reece slips..
-
Bugger!
-
Totally against the run of play..
-
B"gger
-
Totally against the run of play..
Sounds like v Blackpool all over again.
-
Bound to happen. Pressing for a goal, open at the back. Not finishing on our part doesn’t help.
-
That's what happens when we don't take our chances, just like VS Blackpool.
So frustrating.
-
Plenty of time left in this game....
-
I’m scratching my head how we’re not winning this game let alone losing it
-
Plenty of time left in this game....
Indeed! Come on Rovers, let’s do it! :bbscarf:
-
Sounds like Dieng is earning his keep.
-
We were up against it at Coventry and managed to score.....we will here too rtid
-
Fingers crossed
-
I’m scratching my head how we’re not winning this game let alone losing it
No striker on the pitch is the answer
-
Feels like we get so far but just can’t finish.
-
Whiteman hits the bar from edge of box
-

So what’s Sadler on the pitch for?
-
Which of our chances would a number 9 have buried then.?
-

Two off the woodwork, May earlier and now Whiteman
-

It's not only about the chances though, it's the presence a striker would offer compared to Sadlier, you'd then have Sadlier in his best position, no May in the pitch, so then it's totally different
-
Get in.!!!!!!!!
-
Good lad.
-
Reece James! Bet he feels great following his slip for Pompey’s goal!
-
Still time for the win.
-
A winner now would net me £150 on a Forest, Wednesday, Rovers treble. GO FOR IT LADS!
Also would be good to win for the 3 points haha
-
Jammy Kitsons..!
-
Fgs
-
Bloody hell!
-
So frustrating
-
Another chance ... just no one there with any finishing ability.
-
FT
-
At least dick Turpin wore a mask..
-
Game over, lost 1-2. :headbang:
-
We are paying hugely for not rectifying the striker situation. Who do we have to send on as a last attempt to score ... Joe Wright !!
-
Oooof. Unlucky. A real smash and grab from Pompey. Rovers were excellent. NEXT.
-
They scored 2 goals from 7 shots, we managed 1 from 25. Says it all. Well, not it all but says something.
-
Which of our chances would a number 9 have buried then.?
Sadliers
But it’s not just that is it, a proper goalscorer makes the right runs, gets in the correct positions.
There’s no doubt in my mind we wouldn’t have lost today or v Blackpool with a goalscorer in the side
-
Says they blocked a good few of our shots and we hit the bar twice. Their first goal was after James looked to have slipped..
Can’t blame this defeat on a lack of a no 9; we created plenty without one..
-
They were well drilled at the back, but oh my god I'd prefer to watch a dickov team than them for a season. If we played them again another 10 times they wouldn't get a point.
-
I’d like to say how good the ifollow commentary was today. Marty Blair was very very good on there with Robbie. He’s very intelligent, gives a good outlook on the players and also the team set up and tactics. I’m sorry we lost but I enjoyed their match broadcast together and their insights. I hope Matty recovers quickly of course but get him back on whenever you can again ifollow
-
After watching the game I’m sure u will know what I was on about

Creating chances isn’t the problem, it’s finishing them off.
A number 9s job isn’t to create its to finish them off so not sure what the point is you’re trying to make

Agreed Dickos, and as for that miss by KS...........
-
Marquis when he played for us missed easier chances than Sadliers.

Look at yesterday”s game.
Apart from the one Sadlier chance, how would having a no 9 have made any difference to Whiteman, Taylor, Coppinger missing the target with good chances.?
With a number 9 we would perhaps have played differently and created different chances of course, but there’s no guarantee that a no 9 would have scored them or not had his shots blocked..
-
Of course not
But we’ve outplayed the majority of sides we’ve played this season yet we’re amongst the lowest 3 or 4 goal scorers in the division.
It’s not difficult to conclude that this is due to us not having purchased a replacement for marquis
