The article makes it sound as though we did not select him, when in reality he has been injured most of the time. It's a shame he is not coming back.

Sterling was, in the absence of the 2 strikers we supposedly had lined up, in effect, the only true replacement for JM and we’ve never really seen him in anger. This, and the non-signing of either of the other 2 mentioned above, is the biggest reason we find ourselves in the position we’re in.
Yes, we’ve had a very stop/start first half of the season and we’ve had our fair share of injuries in the squad, but IF we’d had any mileage (at all) out of Sterling AND we’d signed an experienced striker (1 of the 2), I think we’d be a few more points better off than we are, currently. In which case, we’d be looking well primed to make a sustained charge for the top 6, post December.
As we are, though, it’s simply anybody’s guess what will happen in January. It’s now the only chance we have of being competitive next year, that is, having a good, positive, transfer window. We all know what we are missing most of all, but that’s not to say there are other parts of the squad that need re-enforcing, particularly in the attacking third. Get 2 or 3 good ones in and we could well be flying. Doing nothing is not an option.

It is quite likely Sterling will be going back in January considering his fitness situation, but that is something we have already heard from Darren Moore and the Free Press. "Football Insider", an oxymoron of a name if ever there was one, haven't really got any idea.

Don't want to put him down as we've not seen him in a Rovers shirt enough, but he looked out of his depth on loan at Sunderland and apart from a few decent spells for us where you thought this kid can only get better he's look out of his depth here also

Simply put we can’t miss him. We could maybe miss out on a moment of brilliance but we haven’t had him enough to miss. 1 good game from a 6 month loan isn’t something we expected. Regardless of injury, mindset or anything else that caused it. On paper we haven’t gained, outside that one half, from his time with us.

Jheeze! Its not his fault! He could have been an excellent signing for us, obviously didn't get his chance through injury.

The reliance on loans / short term signings is starting to have a negative effect , injury - Sterling or loan interruption mid term - John , Sheaf . If all the loans succeed is to cement our L1 status are we not just going around in circles with progress.

Not sure what your issue is with what I said. I merely stated the facts of what’s happened. Every signing could be an excellent one. Some are and some aren’t. This one wasn’t. I never state it was his fault did I?
Just another example of this forum having users more interested in starting issues and arguments than actually reading what is written

Give it a rest.! We’re you complaining last year when the likes of Kane and Wilks helped us to the play offs.? Players like Sullivan, Sharp, Whiteman all started as loanees didn’t they.?
It’s a mix and match and I for one don’t have a problem with it..
