Title: They say you are the company you keep
Post by: Copps is Magic on December 18, 2019, 11:01:09 pm
So not only have the  English Defence League  (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/boris-johnson-parliament-debate-jo-cox-death-brexit-tommy-robinson-a9121201.html") and the  'Football Lads Alliance'  (https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/opinion/how-will-boris-johnson-react-to-his-new-dfla-supporters-attacking-police/09/09/) thrown their full weight behind Boris...

.. but now 'Britain First' is apparently joining up in  full numbers  (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/boris-johnson-far-right-extremists-join-conservatives-support-britain-first-a9252201.html) and is attempting to turn the Conservative party into an activist group.

Interesting article here from Tommy Robinson's own camera man below (a self-crowned 'right wing provocateur')

It’s a complex web of acquaintances and associations, parties and salons.

These connections are far-reaching and were forged at parties overlooking Battersea Park, over drinks on the terrace of my Chelsea apartment, at fundraisers, functions and protests, from the finest hotels to the most chaotic street rallies.

Credit to May, of course, she had the balls to call out Trump over his retweeting of far right groups. I trust Boris will be coming down hard and running this scurge out of his own party pretty dam sharpish... he will right?

There will be many decent tory voters, not doubt, but good to know who you are getting in bed with.

That's no difference Copps to Communists, Marxists, and Trotskyists supporting the Labour Party.

Think back to Derek Hatton and his cronies being expelled by the Party

There are many many nuanced differences Steve. I mean, you draw up three distinctions yourself - non of which are the same.

Anyway, this was not about going tit for tat. It was about the most powerful person in the country, the prime minister, presumably doing his bit to suggest that openly fascist and neo-fascist groups - founded not on economic ideology but on hate of another - have no place in the centre political ground of this country which he now purports to represent and speak for.

You agree with that right?

According to the police and security services far-right terrorism is the fastest growing threat to this country and the number of far-right terrorism referrals just hit a record high.

How many Momentum members have been referred as terrorists Axholme?

I think some of McDonnell's and Corbyn's associations 35 years ago were ultimately very misguided.

Do I think, by association, that any of the contemporary left movements, has any current association with the IRA. No, no I don't - not by a long way in fact.

Now do you have any comment on the contemporary influx of far-right figures and groups into the current party of our government? and Boris' stance on it? That I do know is a very real and prescient issue, but apparently the orthodox position is not to condem it in the strongest terms but to sling mud in the opposite direction. As you did.

Its very stange times we live in.

Wasn't you bp not long ago said I don't want/can't to discuss the IRA?  :)

Britain First say 5000 of its 7500 members have joined the Tory Party.

Paul Golding (BF eader) said "Boris referred to Muslim women wearing the burqa and niqab as letterboxes, so he is obviously a populist nationalist under the surface, like the type of patriotism as promoted by Britain First."

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/paul-golding-conservatives-britain-first-boris-johnson-muslim-women-letterboxes-a9254061.html
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/dec/28/britain-first-far-right-members-5000-have-joined-tories

The type of patriotism as promoted by BF (formed by ex-BNP members) has of course seen members jailed for racially aggravated hate crimes.

So just to recap:

Corbyn kicked out of the Labour Party:

Ken Livingstone
Chris Williamson
Derek Hatton
and 150 or so racists

Johnson kicked out of the Tory Party:
Margaret Thatcher's Deputy
Margaret Thatcher's chief strategist (the man who cam up with the poll tax)
an ex-chancellor who served under Thatcher, Major and Cameron
Winston Churchill's grandson

and has let IN 5000 racists

Funny old world
