Another away game I’ve traveled too, and it’s another game of which it’s perfectly clear that we need a striker and to bolster the squad.
The fans were calling for it tonight,
Oh what a night,
Watching donny on a Friday night,
Got no striker, coz our chairmans tight,
What a feeling, what a night
Tonight’s song clear as day in the concourse and in the stands.
Time to act!
-
Shut up
-
Don’t agree with the song but signing nobody will be unthinkable so yes, it is time to act.
-
Ahh cmon – that's bloody quality!
-
The same chairman that must have sanctioned the deals for Whiteman, Anderson and extended Dieng and Sheaf..
Never mind all the transfer workings - yes they haven’t come in yet, but without doubt they are doing what they can..
Pointless chant - f**king ridiculous.
Yes we need players including a striker but sometimes our fans make me despair.
-

No, it’s not
-
Lighten up lad – its Friday night.

It’s what the fans sang! It’s what they want.
I go week in week out. Unlike many on this forum...
I have a picture of my face (albeit with Viking filter) be nice to see a few others from here and debate on the topic!
I’m there for all to see about time some of you joined in the minority that travel...

Mate I’m with you on the passion but quite a few of this forum go home and away as well as you. I might give 3rd of March a miss though. 😂

They’ll of heard the songs then.
We put our hands in our pockets, they need to now!
-
What’s he on about?
-
Still not getting it are you. Yes, we know what's needed. DM knows it. It's not the board who decides on players ffs!
-

What do you need me to explain?

Right,
What more evidence do you need?
6 players named on tonight’s bench!
Ben whiteman live on sky mentioning how thread bare the squad is...
Open your eyes there’s one thing holding signings back! And it’s funds.
-
Bingham was going to be in the bench wasn’t he.?
Did Whiteman mention funds.? No, he didn’t..

It was a pathetic song being sung by about 20 lads none of who looked old enough to have witnessed what a poor board looks like.
I would suggest from the comments around me, those 20 or so are in a massive minority in criticising our board.
Keep the faith and we should see some incomings next week. If we don’t then maybe DM is being too picky but I still put my faith in the set up and wait patiently.

You mean, on top of that £15million they've out in over the past decade?

Its seems pointless to speak of money spent on the journey that has got us to where we are . No matter what the cost it will have been weighed and calculated against looses and profits so it’s benefits are felt by everyone . The board are astute to know that there is time to invest and a time to be prudent . Darren Moore is on a pathway agreed by the club which is to build from the ground up a solid base and work within a set budget and bring in who he feels he can improve that base . Whiteman, Anderson , Wright , James, Gomez Taylor are solid players add to these Dieng and John or even Ennis and Shief to this and you don’t need too many before you’ve build a promotion looking side . DM is on record of saying that promotion isn’t his main target this season but growing the club to a point where it has its own talent . I doubt he’d pass up the chance to do it this season if he can create the opportunity !

That’s the one isolate fans who are of a younger age than yourself!

You are clearly missing the point and trying to spin an ageist argument to support a very misplaced song.
This board are head and shoulders above most of the boards we have had up until JR and this board arrived on the scene.
Fans of the age singing that song would not have been actively following and aware of that type of board.
Don’t bite the hand that feeds.
-
Love the chant! Could hear that song on the tv but couldn’t make out the exact words.
Some people need to lighten up.
:rtid:
-
The song is amusing, I don’t think it’s intended to be serious. But if you really do want to take it literally, then maybe it’s onto something i.e. the owners have made the money available but the chairman’s laboured and agonising negotiation is causing deals to take an age to get over the line.
-
I certainly agree we shouldn’t be chucking money at agents but it’s the industry we’re in, another method is to pay it and simply add the fees back on when you sell the player. McCann, Ferguson and Dickov have all said the same thing.... there’s no money and it’s pretty obvious there the ones no lying.
-
The song is a light hearted joke. Christ some on this forum are offended by everything. As bad as Liverpool fans.

Just thinking as I read the above post........paying the agents fees to get the right player is a bit like having to pay stamp duty on a second or third (and so on) property.
You resent having to do it but if you want what it brings (income) then you just have to bite the bullet and crack on.

There is a line between what is funny and what is not..
We played excellent last night and prevented Sunderland from scoring there - not many do - yet it’s OK to have a pop at the chairman..?
It’s not offensive, just unnecessary..
-
Heaven forbid ! An amusing tongue - in - cheek song sung by the club's supporters on friday night out. And to make it worse they were youngsters !
There was nothing offensive about it whatsoever and the older supporters on here, like me, need to celebrate their wit and ironic way of getting a very justifiable message across. Not criticise. They are the RTID of the future.

It’s nowt to do with age..

Just carry on wallowing in your own miserable world. Wouldn’t want it any other way would we.
You make all the other negativity on here look positive.
-
On the contrary avsuptem. Older supporters have a responsibility to remind some younger fans what a badly run club really looks like - and where it can end up.
-
spot on mate .we have our share of miserable cnuts on here 😡

Maybe change the words to the budget is tight instead of chairman
-
Or, maybe sing about summat else more positive. Like singing the praises of our players etc.

'Pure Burberry'
So Colin care to elighten me what that means dear boy?
The English outfitters specialising in a distinctive plaid?
I art directed the design of The Burberry Annual Report and Accounts about 20 years ago but thats as close as I've got to the iconic fashion brand.
Never really liked the overbearing Caramac brown primary colour in the weave. Always thought it a bit bland.
Anyway...

Aye, not an easy one when agents will be hovering like Sylvester around Tweety Pie, knowing that we need a forward. I feel a bit for DM who must be agonising over bringing someone in.
My take is that we have the makings of a proper team here but going up this year would be way too early for us. So while getting someone in up front would help with the development of the team between now and the end of the season, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the summer before we see something more permanent.

You may be right, but that would leave a hell of a task on in the summer. We only have 8 senior players contracted to the club beyond this season (and of those you’d have to say Lawlor’s future is uncertain and Whiteman and Anderson will attract interest) so if we opted against permanent signings in this window then we’ll need to make permanent signings galore in the summer.

We actually do work with some excellent agents at DRFC, so it's not all one way traffic, there are some out there who are extremely valuable and you don't mind paying.

That is good to hear SM and I had always thought that that would be the case.
I would think it is fair to say that the club sometimes asks agents for recommendations for certain types of players.
I am sure that you understood the reason for my earlier post.
For those that didn’t.......
Sometimes, for the absolute right player, a club would have to pay an agents going rate if it meant that future income would be enhanced.
