Title: Void of quality
Post by: StocksArmy on January 24, 2020, 10:11:25 pm
As the caption says. They were there for the taking and we created nothing. In the end we have to be thankful we have the best defence in the league by far IMO. Happy with a point? Nah not really! Very easily could have been 3. This no transfer business is now very boring and extremely annoying. If Darren Moore walked none if us could blame him.

The endless posts going on about it are boring..

Nothing personal but do we need ANOTHER new thread on this.?
Yes we need players in but that was a hard earned point tonight.. had Taylor’s header been a few inches closer after Gomes’ shot was well saved, we may have won..

Fair play to DM , the way he set his team up was outstanding. No doubt most folk agree we would be even better if we had a quality striker, but not likely one will arrive, however I’m sure by next season DM will have what he thinks we need.

May be devoid of quality up top but plenty of quality every else on the pitch,
Sunderland have strikers coming out of there ears worth millions and had no
better chacess than us.

So what do we do throw a load money at a half decent striker and his agent, put him on silly wages, upset the rest of the squad and then find out he’s about as good Carl Alford.
I’d love Rovers to sign a good striker but it’s ridiculous in January. Man U, the biggest club in the country are thinking about loaning Slimani or Ighalo, it’s not a buyers market.

Reality last night was the end product from the 9 outfield players playing behind our striker Ennis was poor. Aguero would have struggled last night

I think we missed Sadlier last night. The performance was crying out for someone to have a few shots from distance. I suspect we might have seen another result similar to Peterborough (away) had Sadlier played.

A buyers market it's not, but there must be plenty of young strikers at higher clubs that we could bring in to give us that impetus to help with a play-off push, the first eleven are working their nads off & we can't expect Ennis to play 20 odd games up there on his jack. There must be someone we can bring in to help him. If we don't it's down to poor recruitment for me.

To be fair I don't believe a lot on here are moaning about our forward\forwards, just commenting on how they see it.

I’m sure we’re trying to do that but with the way the transfer window is we’ll probably be waiting until deadline day, they’ll be lots of offers for the same players and when the big transfers finally go through that’s when everything will start moving. Man U have meant to be signing Bruno Fernandes since the 1st of January  but it’s still in the balance, Spurs are desperate for a striker, Arsenal a centre half, it’s a difficult process.

Nobody is saying we should burst the banks. Are you suggesting that we shouldnt sign anybody in this window unless its Messi or Ronaldo then? All I am saying is there is potential there to beat anybody and you dont have to be a mathematician to look at the league table to realise that if we recruit well then we could be in with a shout. That is the most frustrating thing about watching us.

Absolutely it's a difficult process, but one we should deal with if we have ambitions of the top six, I don't care if we leave it until the last minute on Friday, as long as we do the business.

Interesting to hear Lampard speaking after the Chelsea cup tie.
He says that the board know his view and although he has a long term plan there is a need for incoming players now.
I would say that same scenario could be said for us too.
