Is it time we got some enthusiastic ball boys, the present ball boys look like they’d tather be anywhere else but the KM, it looks an effort for them just to retrieve the ball
-
Amazing you should raise this Filo, because exactly the same thought occurred to me at one point last night.
There was an occasion when the ball went behind for a goal kick to us. Dieng looked like he wanted the ball quickly to take the kick but two ball boys seemed to be waiting for each other to retrieve it.
Never noticed that before but it did strike me at the time.

They look like street corner loiterers .

They seem can’t be arsed if we are winning or losing, it should be drilled into them that when we sre losing the ball needs to be back in play pronto
-
I coach youngsters and with the odd exception they don’t know what day it is! too much screen time, head’s like a rhubarb crumble! The ruling elite have got what they wanted, a passive, zombified proletariat incapable of any thought process.
-
Well Club wDoncaster has close ties with schools and çolleges and should sort this out quickly ...we look third class in this department for sure .
-
We were talking about this last night too.
Surely there are youth groups / youth football clubs who'd love the chance to give it a go !
-
I can remember doing it at Belle Vue with our Sunday league side when I was about 13 and loved it!
Could they not bring that back!?
-
Aren’t you a bit old to do it now
-
They were useless last night they just sat there with the ball close to them
-
They are instructed in how quickly they need to be lad that sits in front of me did it during the Fergie era and he was told if losing run for it get it back asap if winning slow it down.
Maybe the ball boys were under the same instructions
-
Why are the U18s used as ball boys anyway?
-
It's a shame that we can't give the fans a bit of an overhaul, that would be my priority :woot:
-
Why are the U18s used as ball boys anyway?
Maybe its a educational/experience thing?Trying to teach them if they go on to have a career in footy.

Is it the U18's?

Well in my opinion non of them look remotely interested
-
On most occasions the U18s are required to be the ballboys, often straight from playing in their own morning game.
-
It brings to mind that incredible 'assist' by the quick-thinking Spurs ball-boy against Olympiakos!
-
That Spurs ball boy should come and coach ours .
-

I did it back in the day too and the instructions were very similar.
I too wonder why they decided on the U18s doing it rather than local junior teams? It was a brilliant experience doing that as a kid that I remember really vividly. The view wasn’t great from pitch level but being that close to the action was amazing.
It might help to convert a few extra youngsters into becoming regulars at the KM as well.
-
It’s been a problem for a while. I’m guessing they’re using youth team or the like. If that’s right someone should be watching them and if they show attitude bin them off. That would soon wake them up
-
It was the u15s on Tuesday, straight after their training session.
-
Wasn’t there but if it was as bad as people are saying let’s hope their attitude in training was better
I used to coach a youth team and brought them to be ball boys at a game years ago
The lads loved it
I think they’ve stopped that now probably some snowflake health and safety decision
-
There was one occasion where a lad near the SW corner seemed either disinterested or unaware the ball needed fetching..
-
They're kids who likely don't really want to do it and if they're coming straight after training themselves then even more so.
I know it takes a lot more arranging but it was brilliant to have local junior teams do it, they're always enthusiastic and you can help grow the fanbase in this way too.
I did it twice as a kid with my junior team at Belle Vue and loved it, got to score a penalty on the pitch at half time (albeit past my team's 11-year-old - and therefore way too small for the goal - keeper) and also had a front row view of Jamie Paterson chinning a Southport player!
-
I'm guessing the problem with using various Junior Teams is no shows. Maybe that happened too many times? A way around that is to book a few extra. A free adult ticket to go with every kid might already be what happens, but is an idea if not - extra money spent on pies etc, win/win.
Also for young ones, 90 mins concentration is a long time, so have different kids for the first and second half.
-
My son did it many years ago when he played for Hyde Park Knights, he said the Bovril at half time was the best part.
-
From memory the parents of my team got free entry. We brought a coach up from Boston
I can remember the brief they got
If we’re winning towards the end of the game take your time getting the ball. If we’re losing get it back as quick as possible
My lad has never forgotten that
-
I was 65 Boxing Day put me down next home game I will do it !!
-
We should get a team of VSC ball"boys", together for one game. Good for the profile of the club and the co-operative!
-
Count me in 😊
-
Count me in to
-
Did it a couple of times as a kid during Bremner’s first stint. It was brilliant.
-
Any more for any more? #VSCBallBoys
-
I loved being ball boy. Reading at home 7-5 then Exeter.
-

Count me in. What's the standard total at a game?
-

Sadly being 60 odd I'd probably slower than the current ball boys ....actually thinking about it no I wouldn't count me in .......... but only if we are winning 1-0
-
It's look like we have one for each side/end of the pitch so far
-
I'd do it if the option really came up!
-
Let’s organise it boys we’ll show them young uns
