Billy, Churchill made a couple of speeches about Europe, The fear of the Soviet Union and communism concerned him military wise, and looked for military co-operation.
Churchills war would be a good book for you to read. Or you could watch on you tube the speech " Europe Unite" made in 1948. I thought it might have been by someone significant.

Billy there are four speeches by Churchill calling for a united Europe on you tube for you to look at. Nobody is denying it could have been a good idea with us at the helm, unfortunately the foreigners took his idea and morphed it into what it is today.

My apologies. Thatcher's original quote was about us leaving the EEC. I thought I'd written that, but if incorrectly said "Europe".
Regarding Churchill, he was a passionate supporter of a United States of Europe. Which the EU isn't. But you still criticise it, even though it's nothing like a USE that Churchill wanted.

You're surely not that dense? The Battle of Orgreave? Every country has internal disputes, it doesn't mean it's EU related. We had rioting not too long ago because someone was murdered by police, by your reasoning would that not have happened if we were out?
The EU aren't forcing France to pay their firefighters unsatisfactory wages, like how they're not forcing us to play unsatisfactory wages for our nurses. Nurses in Netherlands for example pay their nurses on average around £45,000. One day you'll wake up and realise the bad stuff in this country isn't the EU, it's our government, but unfortunately by then it'll be too late.
