Title: This letter from Boris
Post by: Filo on March 29, 2020, 02:44:33 pm
Is there really any need for it, £5.8m for a letter telling us the same thing they’ve been telling us on TV

As people are not paying attention yes it can’t do any harm

I disagree, sending a pointless letter to every household increases the chances of cross contamination, from the people that have to process these letters to the sorting offices, to the postman to the recipient, a lot of people wil handle these letters and every household is going to get one. And all it says is the same as what they’ve been saying on TV, and £5.8m to send them, how many ventilators could that buy

Blackpool, Agreed, I just posted on the Coronavirus thread about my neighbours having visitors round this morning and they were all hugging each other and each gave a small child in the group a kiss when they left.

That’s a good point about contamination the money factor for me is not the issue if they think it might do a tiny bit of good

People who ignore the existing advice will ignore a letter too..  the folks hound talks about for example.

There’s only going to be so many folks who don’t use the internet who don’t watch tv or listen to the radio either..

It will cost a lot more if people carry on flouting the suggested distancing rules.

I don’t suppose that any of us are not opening the post that we get now, our postie is wearing latex gloves as I would guess are the sorting office people.

Johnson writing to 30 million households at the cost of £5 million is an epic waste of money.

That money is better spent on PPE, ventilators, testing kits or face masks.

There is nothing in the letter he hasn’t already said via MSM.

wearing gloves only stop those people handling mail from getting the virus it does not stop the spread of the disease from letter to letter.

Dear Mr de Pfeffel Johnson ,

the letter you are going to send to 30 million households at a cost of £5 million,
can you please print it on perforated  two ply?

How will it cost 5 million when first class is 70p or second class is 61p ? Plus the cost of the paper and envelopes.
Surely it will cost at least 20 million ?

Bulk sales will not pay retail price.
