Who is the only one of the '92' or '91' now, that has played in all four tiers of English football at TWO different grounds.
-
Would that be Huddersfield Town ?
-
Man City?
-
Brighton
-
Well done hound 👍🏻
-
Yay.
My turn now then....
Which is the only team to have played in the PL, Div1, Div2, Div3, Div4, Div3 North and Div3 South.
-
No it doesn’t mean 8 grounds, it asks which team competed in those leagues.
-
Coventry City
-
Brighton.
-
Correct Draytonian, your turn now.
-
swansea or cardiff i'll try them again
-
Brighton.
SS, Brighton, in Div 3 North, really?
Unless you mean New Brighton in that Division and Brighton and Hove Albion in Div 3 South.
Interesting to see if that would actually work.
-
Brighton.

Interesting to see if that would actually work.
I was thinking in terms of when re-structuring is necessary because of an overload of teams.
For example, Hereford FC play in National North, when you would expect them to play in National South.

Hereford must still be a good hundred miles north of Brighton though!

Well, yes of course, but you couldn’t really expect BHA to play in Div3 North could you.
They couldn’t be any further South.
As it happens, your answer has opened up a trick football question because BHA have played in all of the divisions in my original question except Div 3 North.
BUT New Brighton have played in Div 3 North so if you link the two clubs together you have a question with a trick answer.........if you see what I mean.
-
Wolves did every Division apart from D3 (South)
-
And Grimsby except premier league
-
OK .... back to the original idea.
I will set an easy question (heard it mny many times) to get you going - and try to solve without Google please
The first person with a correct answer sets the next question. In theory we could have a question relating to every one of the 91 Teams / Grounds.
To keep the quiz "going and dynamic" those setting the questions should also put the answer in "Anyone fancy a Grounds Quiz - ANSWERS" Please look to confirm your answer is correct before setting next Question - and then add the answer to the Answers thread
So (easy) Which is the highest Ground of the 91 above sea level ? It is in fact 551 feet above sea level
-
See if we can keep this going and get all 91
-
Hawthorns.
-
Yes answer could be checked in "Answers" Thread
Set the next one Nick and post the answer in "Answers" as well.
-
Which is the lowest ground in the football league?
-
Riverside?
-
No!
-
Tranmere.? Has to be somewhere beside the coast..
Or the Valley perhaps, seen as that ground appears to be below the water table..?
-
Carlisle?
They always seem to get flooded out?
-
No, No, No!
-
Blundell Park, Grimsby. Just a wild guess. Possibly very near to sea level.
-
Correct!
-
Which current English football ground holds the record attendance for a League game.
Cup matches do not count
-
Is it Charlton ?
EDIT - NO ! I checked the answer so I am out lol
-
Old Trafford?
-
Man City, Maine Road.
-
Wembley - when Spurs played there?
-
There is an answers thread people
-
No to all those.
-
Wembley - when Spurs played there?
That was a European cup game, & is the overall highest Club match attendance.
Cup games don’t count.
-
There is an answers thread people
Hopefully they looked as I hope people will to see if they are right and then set the next question if right
Lets get all 91 covered before we finish so please do not pick one off this list below
So far we have these and the one currently in play
Coventry
Grimsby
Huddersfield
West Brom
-
Stamford bridge?
-
Well done IDM
Hope you didn’t cheat? :boxing: :)
-
No I didn’t, but I thought that Maine road may have had a bigger crowd, but that’s not a current ground..
-
I can’t think of a question, someone else can go next..
-
Right ok then.
Which current English club ground had the lowest gate for a league match.
This is not one of those from the 1880s it is post 1st world war.
No one not even Dutch Uncle i very much doubt will know this one.
-
University of Bolton Stadium. Bolton Wanderers v Doncaster Rovers. Tuesday, Aug 20th 2019.
-
Very good BB but amazingly you are wrong.
-
I reckon it is Priestfield - when Brighton played 'home' games there?
-
Is it a Stockport County game?
I remember reading something last year and it mentioned a very low gate.
-
I think most people remember the massive terracing at Charlton in the 70's when looking at crowds. Been there when the crowd was a few thousand made MK Dons look like New Delhi
-
Is it a Stockport County game?
I remember reading something last year and it mentioned a very low gate.
Keep going Idler you are on the right track.
Stockport were the home team but the answer isn’t the obvious one.
-
I reckon it is Priestfield - when Brighton played 'home' games there?
No wrong, good try wilts.
-
I thnk it was AT Edgeley Park but Man U were one of the Teams - 13 rings a bell for the number
(goes off to check answer)
-
Oh damn
Come on Idler you can put 2 and 2 together now lol (thats all I will say)
-

Yes - staggered I could not get it exactly right having rememvered 13 correctly lol
-
Yes - staggered I could not get it exactly right having rememvered 13 correctly lol
Very well done to get what you did.
I hadn’t a clue till I googled it.
-
That's it. I think it was at the end of the article about Rovers and Stockport playing the longest ever game.

-
Come on folks.
Man U were not playing but ???
Stockport v Leicester in a league match but not at Edgeley Park.
Who is 1st to post, come on chaps.
-
That's it. I think it was at the end of the article about Rovers and Stockport playing the longest ever game.
Do you give up Idler as you haven’t completed the jigsaw?
Yes. I think that they had to play quite a few games close together at the end of the season. I think they played at a neutral ground somewhere. Just can't remember it all. I think that it was at the end of a piece supplied by Ray ( Bradford exile). Just seen your reply, so Old Trafford.
-
Is that the game where only 18 people paid to get in but 10000 others stayed behind from a previous game to watch it?
-

Who would have believed Old Trafford having that record.
Well done.
Your turn.

Which club has a ground with a pub outside at all four corners?
-
Brentford
-
Correct BB.
-
Which club has a ground with a pub outside at all four corners?
Far too easy idler even BB knew that one. :chair:
-
Bloody cheek!
Right then. Who was the last club to play in the Football League without floodlights?
-
Was it Scunthorpe United
Going for them as they came into the league after the 2nd World War i think.
So could be a plausible answer..
-
Incorrect!
-
Incorrect!
Accrington Stanley. Whoever they are.
-
Wrong!
-
Wrong!
Gateshead is a possibility but we are only using the current 91 clubs in this quiz.
So i assume that’s wrong BB
-
Was it Peterborough United?
-
Both wrong. I didn't know we were only allowing current football league clubs' grounds. This one isn't a league ground now, although it was before it was demolished. The team is no longer in the football league.
-
Both wrong. I didn't know we were only allowing current football league grounds. This one isn't a league ground now, although it was before it was demolished.
We are supposed to be going through all current 91 clubs with each of the football ground quiz questions.
So your question is redundant. But who is it? You have not put the answer in the Answers Only topic BB
Last guess Saltergate Chesterfield.

How do you know I haven't put the answer in the answers only topic? You been peeping?
Anyway, you got it in the end. the answer's Saltergate.
-
Is that the game where only 18 people paid to get in but 10000 others stayed behind from a previous game to watch it?
Close !
13 paid to get in because Stockport had had crowd troubles
An estimated 2000 stayed behind from previous game to watch for free
-
Have another go BB using one of the 91 but not one listed just above
-
How do you know I haven't put the answer in the answers only topic? You been peeping?
Anyway, you got it in the end. the answer's Saltergate.
I know you hadn’t because if you had the ‘answer only’ topic would have come to the top of the topics list with your name on it.
I don’t cheat BB ;)
-
Campsall, you do realise I was joking, don't you?
-
I do BB of course. :)
-
Your turn then mate. You got it right!
-
Your turn then mate. You got it right!
Yes but your question wasn’t valid in this quiz so Wolf says you can have another go.
Can’t think of anything just at moment any way.
-
What is the only current league stadium to have two players tunnels for the home and away teams?
-
Vale Park?
-
No!
-
Doesn’t Ethihad have their tunnel seperated or maybe just thought that up lol
-
According to my information, there is only one stadium with two tunnels and The Ethihad isn't it.
-
Wembley stadium. Spurs ex home ground.
-
Wembley stadium. Spurs ex home ground.
said current
-
Sorry.😳
-
.... back to your favourite question
I will say its Bolton Wanderers
Remember when they used to say Rovers were the only ones with 2 then they popped up
-
Yeeeeah - I knew the stuff I filed for the future away under "remember that" would one day prove useful
Trouble with getting one right is you need one ready but ....
When in doubt go for the Anagram !!!
Who plays at Dogear Caviar (traditional name of Stadium)
-
A list of the Teams / Grounds we have used.
See if we can use all 91 - though that should make the last 10 or so easier
Bolton W
Brentford
Chelsea
Coventry
Grimsby
Huddersfield T
Man Utd
West Brom

Just going to check in Answers.
Yes correct
-
Next question.
Which current 91 club ground holds the record attendance in the 4th tier.
So that is of course since the formation of 4 divisions which off the top of my head I think was the 1958/59 season.
So that could be 4th division, league 3 as it was when we were champions in 2003/04 or league 2 as it is now.
-
Fratton Park? (Pompey?)
-
Incorrect
Just confirming this question relates to league games only.

Your turn to set a question.
-
Great question CR - I was nowhere near that one
Heres the Grounds Idler should avoid :
Bolton W
Brentford
Chelsea
Coventry
Crystal Palace
Grimsby
Huddersfield T
Man Utd
Port Vale
QPR
Watford
West Brom
-
Wolf i am waiting for Idler to set the next question.
What time gap do we need before someone else can post one.
Trying to stick to the rules you set and don’t want to jump in.
Doesn’t seem to be many members on the forum at the moment due to lack of football activity of course.
I have a few questions lined up though.
-
Sorry, had to make tea after breaking off. My apple scones are to die for.
I imagine it would be when Palace won the old 4th division about 1961.
They to led us 1-5 at home that season.
Which team moved to their present ground from a ground called the Crow's nest?
-
Portsmouth.?
-
No
-
Plymouth?

Her scones are very scrumptious also.
-
Norwich City?
-
Correct.
-
Is it West Brom. Gone for them due to Their Nick make of ‘Throstles’
-
Posted at same time.
So no it isn’t WBA
-
BB got it with Norwich Campsall. There is a picture somewhere of Norwich's old ground packed to the rafters.
-
Couldn't think of a difficult one so here's an easy one:
Which League club ground had the first cantilever stand?
-
Scunny ?
-
Was it scunny old show ground, bugger lol
-
Is it West Brom. Gone for them due to Their Nick make of ‘Throstles’
Hopefully not as they have featured once (once too many for a wolf lol)

-
Of the current 91 grounds, that would be one..
-
Of the current 91 grounds, that would be one..
Why does it have to be about the current 91 grounds? Maine Road, Saltergate, and the Old Show Ground aren't.
-
Sorry, I forgot to put a little winky on the end..
-
Sorry, I forgot to put a little winky on the end..
No problem IDM. Now, how many grounds?
-
SS - please post the answer in the "Answers" thread then if a person submits an answer on here - they can immediately check if they are right - and set another thus (I hope) keeping the pot boiling by immediately setting a new question
Also for others setting questions - we are aiming to get all 91 teams featured so please pick someone not on the list below
I have added Rovers as I know they have featured even if the answer is a number lol

Im escaping today - waited 2 weeks for a Click and Collect as no matter how I tried I could not get a delivery
So I will say Rovers had 4 Grounds (Yorkshire School for Deaf grounds / Bennetthorpe / Belle Vue / Keepmoat) but even if right I will defer to next correct answer if its after 09.30
-
SS you have spoilt my Rovers question i was going to post. :crying:
Which would have been, who has won the most Div 3 North titles.
Rovers x 4
-
I am going to jump in as no one else has!!!
Who has won the most Div 3 South titles?
-
Yes unfortunate that SS didn't put answer in Answers Thread.
You keep pot boiling
-
Brighton.?
-
Brighton.?
No wrong. They were the last winners. But their only title.
Think they have won the third tier twice since then so good try.
-
Come on folks.
Can we have some guess’s on the last question. Only 1 so far from IDM ;)
-
I can’t have another go as I have looked at the thread with the answer on, to check my guess.!
-
How about Exeter.
-
Donny?
-
How about Exeter.
Wrong hound sorry.
-
Donny?
BB did you read the question properly?
1)/Rovers were in the Div 3 North & Rovers would have been the correct answer. Question though was the Div 3 South. ;)
2) Rovers have been used already
I know we are great club but we were not that great that we had teams in North & South sections.
-
Plymouth
-
Plymouth
Wrong again. They got 2 titles. So good shout.
Someone got 3
-
Are you all eating you tea. Yes looks as though you are.
Crikey we are in for a long haul here to get a question on all 91 clubs.
Anyone would think we are ALL busy.
-
Swansea.

I am now worried we are going to go through 30 + clubs before someone gets it.

Northampton.
Wrong
-
Small clue.
1982/83 & 1983/84 are the only seasons this club have been in the 4th Division.
-
QPR
-
QPR
No hound. Don’t think QPR have ever been in the 4th Div
I better check that one not 100%
No they haven’t on checking.
-
The clue i gave was 1983/84 they obviously got promoted.
Who else got promoted that season from the 4th Division.
-
York and Doncaster, neither of whom would have been in D3 south..
-
York and Doncaster, neither of whom would have been in D3 south..
The question IDM is which club has most div 3 south titles.
This club was in the 4th div in 1983/84
I don’t understand what you are saying as it’s completely not relevant to the answer.
Yes York and Rovers went up in 83/84 & & ??
-
Crystal Palace
-
I am staggered no one has got this one right yet.
-
Crystal Palace
What. We have had them already.
Also never been in 4th Div.
-
York and Doncaster, neither of whom would have been in D3 south..

Yes York and Rovers went up in 83/84 & & ??
Not saying anything really, must answering the question partially about which teams won promotion that season as well as pointing out that they aren’t your answer..
-
I thought we were looking for Div3 South champions, not 4th Division.
-
Oh we are. The clue i am giving is this club was promoted along with us in 1983/84
That’s all.
-
The confusion on Palace and QPR not being in the 4th div is that they can’t be the answer as they are not the club that got promoted with us in 83/84
The club we are looking for got 3 div 3 south titles and was also a club that got promoted from the 4th Div with us In 83/84.
Sorry for the confusion.
Thought I was giving a good clue as may remember who were the 4 clubs who went up that season.
-
I can’t remember who that was and don’t want to look it up, so, how about........
Charlton Athletic.
-
I can’t remember who that was and don’t want to look it up, so, how about........
Charlton Athletic.
No wrong
Reading came 3rd in the league & it’s not them.
Who finished 4th.
-
Notts County?
-
I can’t remember who that was and don’t want to look it up, so, how about........
Charlton Athletic.
They also have not ever been in 4th Div.
QPR are also one of the clubs we have used up in our 91 club list.
-
Notts County?
Sorry BB wrong, good try as they were actually a Div 3 south club which won a title in that league.
-
Ah, what about Luton Town.
-
Ah, what about Luton Town.
Good grief NO it’s wrong.
Where were you guys in 1983/84
This Club are not in league 1 now. That’s my last Clue.
-
Bristol City ?
-
Bristol City ?
Hallelujah, correct.
By heck that took some getting. Well done Wolf.
Your go.
-
Yes .... I think
Wow that is the kind of question we needed. My 3 have been crap so hopefully this one will be slightly better
Without Googling - on which ground was the first Goal awarded using goal line technology ? So it had to be a Prem Ground - and there are 4 or 5 it cant be because this will be a new Ground to add to the list
-
Talking of the list - here it is
Bolton W
Brentford
Bristol City
Chelsea
Coventry
Crystal Palace
DRFC (OK!!)
Grimsby
Huddersfield T
Man Utd
Norwich
Port Vale
QPR
Rochdale
Scunny Utd
Watford
West Brom

-
No - fraid not
Hooray it lasted more than 1 attempt
-
King Power - Leicester City
-
I looked in your answers only to see if i am right so can’t give a reply now.
-
King Power - Leicester City
Can tell you that’s wrong having looked.
-
Have you taken over from DW for this one.
-
Have you taken over from DW for this one.
Sorry hound just thought i may as tell him it’s wrong. Sure Wolf won’t mind.
-
Ah but you could have kept guessing if you hadn’t sneaked a peek.
-
Ah but you could have kept guessing if you hadn’t sneaked a peek.
Yes bit silly of me. But curiosity got the better of me. Still I don’t want to hog the questions.
-
Ah but you could have kept guessing if you hadn’t sneaked a peek.
Well the idea is to keep it flowing so if we have a guess then look at the answer - if correct the person can set the next question
However as CR in this case looks and sees the answer (in this case) is not West Ham he is "out" because he has seen the real answer
-
Bugger,I hav'nt looked on this thread since yesterday, been busy, when I read through the div 3 south title question,I thought Bristol city straight away,I scrolled through each reply checking if anyone got it,then bugger finally Donnywolf right before I got to have a go.Thought it was them,I believe they got a pretty good record in lower league cup JPT or whatever its called now too.
Right, first goal given by goal line tech, was it at st James park?
-
Burnley turf moor ?
-
No - you can check the Answer as its posted in the Answer thread of course
I am glad this one has run a bit but of course still only 3 guesses since 10am yesterday
The clue is look at the Grounds we have "featured" already - and add the incorrect 3 guesses - and then you will have a short list of possibilities - athough you would need to know who was in the Prem in Season 2013 2014
I have added the write up in the answers
-
Thing is with that you look at the answers then you can’t guess again really if it’s wrong
-
Thing is with that you look at the answers then you can’t guess again really if it’s wrong
.......and it prevents you from guessing wrong on purpose to keep the person who asked the question on their toes.
Sorry Paul, just a bit of fun mate.
-
So which Club are we looking for. Wolf has hinted it’s one of the grounds currently in the Premier league.
So come on it’s just a process of elimination.
-
Come on Quiz time :that:
-
Gone very quiet on this quiz.
Wolf i think you need to offer a prize to the person who gets most answers correct.
Might generate a bit more interest?
I thought people loved quizzes.
-
Southampton?
-
Southampton?
Standing in for DW again as his trustworthy assistant
the answer Idler i am sorry is wrong.

-
Campsall, it's your turn on the Name The Rovers Player quiz, if you're bothered!
-
Wolfie, I'd have a go but I know the answer! I clicked on the wrong thread by accident and saw the answer. I was gonna say that team next as well, bugger!
